Reminder to viewers that swing vision measures average speed, aka travel distance (measured from contact point to bounce point) divided by travel time (in frames). This is very different than the peak velocity at contact that pro tour radar guns measure. Peak speed is, in general, ~25% higher than average speed (60mph average = 75mph peak)

I'm still using my 2021 MP-L. 4g split between 3 and 9 and a leather grip. The feel on impact is really nice. Crisp and plush at the same time.

Sounds like a dream setup! I have to say I wish I had the opportunity to try the stiffer 2021 version, having now been exposed to the '23. I think I would have liked a crisper feel but alas, there are too many sticks out there to try them all.

Nice move from Head. Being able to purchase a real pro stock is very valuable for some players who want to expand their limits. Even nicer to show us where to get one (or more). But be careful what you wish for. Having the perfect racquet means the end of all excuses: if you fail a shot, then it is your own fault.

9:26 in the table in the predictability row there is TF305 mentioned twice and there are no radicals. So is the most directional/rightmost TF305 or radical?

Hi Beckett. Coincidentally I just bought the MPL 2 weeks ago, and didn’t realize it was a “platform racquet”. Looking forward to customizing it. I wrote before about what a difficult time I’ve had choosing a new racquet. Jimmy at Courtside gave me quite a few suggestions and then almost as an afterthought he threw in the MPL. From the minute I hit with it I knew it would be in my short list. I liked the Speed Pro but the string pattern didn’t suit by flat shots. I also found it a bit too low power. I tried about a dozen frames Jimmy recommended, including various Pro Staffs, plus the Blade, Pure, V Core…. I just love the feel of the MPL and I definitely play better because it encourages me to hit through my shots. My previous racquets had too much power and not enough control and I found myself holding back or hitting long when I wanted to go for power. Finally, after years of searching!

If you are still playing mostly dubs, it might be better to keep the MPL stock assuming you like how fast it feels at net. Glad you found something to replace those old Princes! Jimmy, or Carlos or whoever, should be able to help you match the swingweights of your old sticks using their machine if you ever find yourself wanting more plow.

I play about half singles half doubles, so I’ll experiment at some point. For now I’ll just enjoy it, stock!

Hi, crazy how your story is similar to my experience. Back in tennis since 5 years and was missing something with more modern frames; not enough feel, too much power etc... leading to an endless search of that perfect blend. Tried the MPL 2021 version and all fell into place almost instantly. I'm keeping it in stock form however, and combined it with a good multi string to add some extra free power. Enjoy the racket man!

I haven't tried it since it was called the Ultra Tour (navy blue with sky blue at 3 and 9). Amazing stick. One of the original Prostock/Prestige knock offs. Loved hitting with it but never felt like i could play my best with it.

Would work 100%. You'll need to add a lot of weight to handle, which might be tricky if its foam filled behind the trap door though.

@@TennCom Thanks, Beckett. This makes it the Prestige variant with the highest twistweight, despite being the lightest and lowest for swingweight. The Prestige Pro and Tour have twistweights around 13.5. Presumably this was HEAD’s design choice to ensure adequate hoop stability in a lighter racquet.

I bought the Prestige MP (2.0 aux), which as far as I heard is available only in Europe, but I don't understand why no one has yet done a review of it. It is an amazing racket with 18x19, and I finally got the right balance between power/control and top spin. I believe it's very underrated due to the availability.

I am looking for a racket that allows me to send the ball exactly where I want it. Since I have strong power, I am focusing solely on control. I aim to hit the ball hard and accurately, like Marat Safin or Sinner. Is the Prestige Pro the most suitable racket for me among the models currently on the market?

I think the prestige tour would better suit you. The pro is ridiculously unforgiving and demanding.

Do you find that the SW1 measures the same as a local head or RDC machine?

No its better. The RDC would give you a different value if you flipped the racquet the other way. Plus, you never know about the calibration of the RDC. When I worked at Courtside, we didn't calibrate our RDC in the 3 years I worked there. I can calibrate the Briffidi every time I use it and the results I get are incredibly accurate from day to day (within 1SW). RDC could vary by 2-3 easily.

TBH I only tried Wasabi red in this and didn't try anything stiffer like the ReString stuff. No reason for this other than I wanted a string that photographed well. The other day I did ToroToro/Sync and it played pretty nice but Toro kind of overshadowed Sync.

Not sure why but to me platform racquets weighted up never feels as good as their heavier counterpart. Like weighting up vcore pro 310 or ps97 would usually end up both harder to swing and still less solid than a vcp310 or rf 97

For me it depends on the frame. I think in the case of the rf97 specifically, there are more changes than just weight, to the layup, string pattern and maybe more things that aren't necessarily on our radars. But other sticks, like the EZONE 98, for me, plays better weighted up than the tour version does stock.

No other review has pointed out the true nature of this platform frame. Then you go and turn it up to 11 and say it's like a pro stock for us hackers, when actually... it is! I never thot of it that way, but its 21.5mm box beam and softer flex definitely make it pro-stocky, even as the 16x19 strings make it accessible. You keep introducing us to new ideas. What're you gonna come up with next?!

How did this play versus a weighted up gravity MP?

I never weighted up the Gravity MP but you are right, they are pretty close. I'd say the Gravity feels more than just 1 square inch bigger so the stringbed feels a little more vague in comparison, whereas the MPL is quite direct in terms of being able to feel where on the stringbed you struck the ball. Spin edge to the Gravity, MPL a little more connected feeling, but all in all, surprisingly interchangeable.

is "layup" the new buzz word? I've never heard the word associated with a racquet but I've heard it a few times within the past few days in racquet videos.

Layup refers to the gravity composition of the frame. The mold would be the geometry of the frame. You can have two racquets with the same mold butt different layups and they would play differently. Its less of a buzz word and more of a technical word.

Tbf I don’t watch very many racquet reviews since I don’t want to have my opinions influenced by the experience of other reviewers so I can deliver the most honest video possible

For the average Joe it’s an absolute waste of money buying a Pro Stock racquet given the price and the fact they can’t even demo it…Like you said with the Prestige MPL, I think if people demo a bunch of racquets and find what suits them and then tweak it from there if you feel the need…my current racquet is the Speed Pro 360+ from 2021 and I felt I wanted it just a fraction heavier (strung weight with dampener and overgrip is 336g) after demoing the 2024 Speed Pro strung, dampener and overgrip came in at 340g and felt a little more head heavy which I like, even though the specs say it’s the same weight and both 7points head light…the swing weight is about 10g heavier though on the 2024 so that’s what I like…so I’ve kind found a racquet I don’t think I need to touch(if the ones I buy weigh in the same as the demo 😅)
