It was nice hitting with you Andy! I think your analysis was on point; looking forward to trying out the Graphene myself and see how it compares to the liquidmetal.

hello, I'm a bit late to the party .. just found this in my recommended .. avid classic racket player here, still have the same racket as well as the prestiges I would recommend Head Gravity MPs 2nd and current gen, dunlop cx 400, as well as Prince Phantom 97 all with the classic feel, decent control, similar flex ratings and balance ps: they're actually all in sale right now so give them a demo 🤣👍

I was wondering if you ever found a replacement for your Radical LM ? I love my Rad LM MP but feel I should modernize it.

Really tough finding a replacement for the Liquid Metal radical (used by djokovic). I tried the Graphene radicals, but I felt they were stiff feeling, perhaps the demo needed to be used more to get a softer feeling like the Liquid Metal radicals like you mentioned. Best of luck finding the replacements!

I think Novak uses some custom pro stock layup in a weird string pattern. This liquid metal radical was quite unique for me in that it was very soft and almost everything I hit was landing in. But you could see I was getting more launch and depth when I switched to his stiff PS97. I think it is all personal preference.
@Javi_C
@Javi_C Год назад
@@tenniswithandy Yes, racquets are all personal preference, and like you said he should stay with the racquet since he hit a pretty good ball. What I meant about djokovic was that he started playing with the Liquid Metal radical early in his career, nowadays he uses a 18x19 95 square inch layup.

@@Javi_C oh thanks for the education on that. I didn’t know that.

Novak uses a custom racquet with the MG radical mold. He has a low stiffness rating and as mentioned, the 18x19 string pattern

I think TF40 18x20 and Blade 18x20 are worth trying.

@@tenniswithandy have you felt a little slower agility wise, when you started going heavy?
@tenniswithandy

@@nd7434 yes I have. That’s why I try to mix in heavy with high reps, low resistance burnout exercises.

I am a bit late to this. But I use liquidmetal radical myself and it is hard to replace this racquet. But someone suggested me Donnay 18x20 racquet and i heard this is as vintage Head as it gets.

I play with the PS97v10. And have played with the the LM Rad MP, and gotta say it is one of the sweetest feeling rackets I’ve ever played. If not the best. And lots of controllable power. Amazing racket. How I wish the Peo Staff felt and swung so comfortably.
@tenniswithandy

Sorry, I forgot to reply to this. It did feel sweet, almost felt like cheating since everything just stayed in.

@@tenniswithandy no worries man. Yeah, it’s soo precise! It’s amazing. How would you compare the sensation on contact with the ball bet both rackets?

I had the radical with the holes on each side in the 3 and 9 position. It cracked in the throat area with just normal play. Bummer! It was discontinued and I couldn't get another one. I have the liquid metal orange & silver model. It (liquid metal) mplays like my Pro Staff but softer and less head light😊.

I've played with the Liquidmetal Radical MP for a while now. I love its crisp, lively feel. Unfortunately, the racket trend nowadays is moving away from the crisp feel to a more comfortable, muted feel. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to find a modern, replacement racket similar to the Liquidmetal. But if you get a racket with the same string pattern (18x20) with similar specs, it will play very similarly. Just the feel will be different. I have an Angell K7 lime with similar specs, which plays very similarly with a more muted feel. Also, the Liquidmetal MP is closer to 95 sq in because it was measured from the outer diameter back in the day. It is ever so slightly bigger than an actual 95. So, your friend might want to look into a 95 or even a 97 sq inch racket. Best of luck with his racket journey (it is going to be a tough, but fun one).

You should try the *Head Liquidmetal Radical **_Tour_** MP:* 98”, 350g strung, 335SW, 18x20 - you don´t even need to add lead tape to it, as it hits monstrously heavy ball off both wings and enables a huge serve in its stock form. (as some other posters have commented below, I´ve read that this and possibly the *Head Flexpoint Radical MP* are the closest stock racquets you can get to matching the Djokovic prostock spec.)

damn he does move like dolgopolov haha. fast and kind of late abrupt. also how did you split your screen for footage? mac? iphone?
@tenniswithandy
@tenniswithandy Год назад
He really cracks the ball off both wings. It took me by surprise because he has such a calm, soft spoken personality. I think I used the iPhone for split screen for this. You can also use iMovie.

Hy! The Head.LM Radical MP has been listed with a 98sinch head (630cm2)but thats not correct. it is 95sinch (615cm2). If you stick on the specs you will hardly find a correct alternative. maybe a Head Prestige PRO if one of Graphene lines, or TOUR if the new Auxetic line (615sinch head, but its a bit heavier.(315g) or you get an older Head Graphene Touch Prestige S, even same weight 300g. this stick was only sold in Europe.) But the old rackets like the LM Radicals are legend, so smooth on the arm in comparison to the more crispy "Graphene lines...

Thanks for the comment. Head used to measure square footage from the outside of the racquet not the inside hence the discrepancy. I’ll let my friend know about your recommendations.
