Pre-tensioning and Post tensioning both are effective under their own circumstances. Post-Tensioning is generally preferred for slabs especially in commercial buildings like malls, IT Parks, etc, whereas, pretenioning is used basically for the infrastructural works like in bridges the girders are pre-tensioned at the casting yard.

Hello , we learned about modular ratio and all that is based on the contact between concrete and reinforcement..I would like to know how this entire modular ratio and other design factors get effected (or remains same ) in post tensioned concrete since there is no significant contact in post tensioning .

Thank you I think we can shall may vphv understand the importance and value of prestressed concrete in our daily lives but also acknowledge the losses associated with it like steel itself plastic due to excessive stressing at the end points and hence can shall may vphv be prevented at any cost, thereby we can use prestressed concrete with timber blocks to support it and prevent plasticity as steel is an important natural resource and spoiling it further and making permanent damage can be detrimental to society at tradition family value level........................

Sir fir v agar deflection hoga thora sa v toh bhi to crack aa hi jayega....crack toh aayega hi kisi bhi kimat pe kyunki thora sa deflection fine cracks toh aayega hi..kya ye bs koi accident ya failure ko rokne k liye hota h..

I have one question on post tension. What is the compound the duct is filled with. Because if the duct is trough and trough from one end to other then only random wires can be put and if they don't stress the beam then it is no use. So the holes must be so tight that with post transitioning it must pull the main beam structure otherwise no use. Pls explain and which is better for casting pre or post. Pls compare.
