Chrissie Hynde can still sing and knock it out of the park. Great to hear her voice is still going strong when many other singers lose their voice over the years (e.g. Bob Dylan, Beach Boys' Mike Love and Al Jardine, etc.). Her voice is a gift.
She sounds just like she did when I seen the Pretenders way back in 1980 and 1981. No Martin Chambers on drums; I hope he's okay; they been playing together for over 40 years
Yes, Chrissie still sounds great, but let's not overlook guitarist James Walbourne. He has been with the band since 2008, and as we seen and hear in this clip, he totally embodies the Pretenders aesthetic. It would be nice to see some tunes get stretched a bit and him getting the opportunity to rip a bit.
No, that is not Martin. Not sure what is up, though I understand he is still with the band. Possibly he wasn't up to doing these dates. He also did not do Glastonbury 2023, where there was yet another drummer, and Dave Grohl sat in, with Johnny Marr joining the band on guitar. You can see that on RU-vid.
Agreed. With Martin sitting these dates out - not sure what is happening there - they have another player who is very fine...but then there is this guy. I think he might just be a temporary fill-in.
