This!! It's hard to imitate the state of mind that one had as a beginner, and disregard all the muscle-memory like art fundamentals knowledge. Eg things I see in beginner art (and also did myself as a beginner): chickenscratch lines. Much too thick lineart (because it is easier and more comfortable to do). Not keeping small details from the sketch (the details like how this artist added thin lines to help show volume changes) so it looks slightly empty. Uneven proportions (not having the half-point of body height being at the hip, elbows by the ribcage end). Shading with black and white only! And not having a consistent light source, but often shading around all the lineart even. Very uncohesive cloth folds as the beginner knows they _should_ be there, but hasn't yet learned to visualize the tension points behind it. Often hiding the hands, and one eye beneath eg. hair... etc. Gosh, it makes me nostalgic somehow to think back on all of these :'D

@@sugoish9461 In the second drawing where the hair of the "scuffed" piece has a part shaded completely black, it's a big giveaway. Beginner artists don't usually go for that kind of stylization because it's tricky to do, and the fact that it was done well shows some art experience. That being said, it might take another artist to notice stuff like what you and I are mentioning, so I certainly don't say this to doubt the veracity of this video/challenge.

Nah bro, it's just looks like an experienced artist sat at your computer, opened paint and drew for 7 minutes. The dynamic, proportions and confidence in everything gives it away imo.

As a complete beginner, I have to say I am very good at "imitating" the mistakes beginners make...

Not having any pressure sensitivity or dynamic linewidth, and not knowing how to sprinkle details consciously in the drawing, so eg. the hair may be full of only individual strands drawn, or there is no details to help show it is hair. Colors picked are often very bright and saturated, as the understanding of how to make dull-er colors look saturated through comparison comes later with color theory. Eg. feet being only shown from the side even in front view is also very common, as learning to draw foreshortening takes boldness and some help on how to understand how to do it.

Somehow in someway it's both bad and better than mine Better than mine cause... She knows how to actually sketch!!! (unlike me 😢)

Holy cow thank you so much Keep going Adever, I’ve been drawing for I don’t know how long, don’t compare yourself to me! Ive been told that im very bad at making bad art, so you shouldn’t take my attempts at making “scuffed” art as real beginner art! I was more or less recreating how I used to draw when I lacked fundementals ehe. Practicing everyday might not make perfect, but perfect practice can definitely get you somewhere :)

To expand on what Orb said, I very much agree that you shouldn't compare yourself to them, but also not to anyone else - everyone has their own level they're at and their own style. The only art you should compare your own with, is your own from before so you can see how you're improving as you go along! :)
