My little niece listens to Young Thug, and there is a clear difference with his music. Young Thug has a serious ear for quality, so I get it. I get what he means though because Young Thug is heavy on melody so it looks one way when its not, and people try to emulate how it looks, but the quality and sound isn't there.
The decline started 20 years ago. Andre 3k did 4 interviews speaking on why he was singing and it went over heads. Nas spoke on the business side killing hip hop and that went over heads too. Laffy taffy and crank that era started the point where "i can do that too" where before you had guys like rakim and andre had you saying "i wish i could be that good". Young thug came so much later and looked around and said "why bother thinking too hard about bars when i can just make noises".
I used to think that too...until I went back and dove into his music.....THUG different fam frfr. He can't be duplicated. I've never heard anyone else like him.
