I have seen this movie many times with all these scenes in it. Probably on the DVD I have. Now when I watch this movie on streaming services, I realize that these scenes have been deleted. Why would they do that? There’s nothing wrong with these scenes!!!
@@shacks29 no it actually really works in the film. I only ever saw the movie with them in until a few months ago and it’s much better with because it adds more to their relationship
She looks prettier with her red hair. I know, she's beautiful with her blonde wig, too, but she has such a pretty smile, and she looks better with her hair down and natural, with no makeup.
I'm glad they made the movie the way they did. To me it's perfect. But the scene outside the club would've been cool if they toned it down a little bit. Only because it shows that he is willing to stand by her and protect her if he has to. Also shows he is a lot tougher than he comes off in the rest of the movie.
Firesite - I agree totally - it showed how he really cared for her and would protect her. I also think it was a bad idea leaving out the scene where they were horse riding.
It's my favourite scene, along with the one where he is playing the piano all alone one night. To me it exemplifies power. Power doesn't have to show off. Power is confident, self-assuring, self-starting and self-stopping. Self-warming and self justifying. When you have it, you know it
They made good decisions as to deleted scenes. Amazing how important how many crappy scenes there are in movies. The film editor's job is so important!!!!
Jason Leeman But in the movie, when she's flossing her teeth he thinks she's doing drugs in his bathroom and she's like outraged because she says she'd never do that ...
I recently saw the film again and felt that something was missing... It was that last scene outside the club. I guess I've seen it before and thought it was part of the film. :D I loved the horse riding scene, wish it had made it onto the movie!
The original script is Much darker and more dramatic. Kit is a Junky two snorts away from an OD at any time, and Roberts herself is a user. A few times in the final cut that you all are used to, Gere keeps telling Julia to "Quit Fidgetting" Due to her jonseing for a hit. Anyway, the final version was decided a better choice to make a flightier, romantic comedy rather than a drama to appeal to a wider audience.I suppose they made the right decision.
xtraflo so they shot the movie with scenes that both showed her as a drug addict (the fidgeting, the night club), but they also shot the "flossing scene" where she says she's drug free. And then decided to not use the scenes that allude to drug addiction. Am I correct?
1 of my favorite movies! I like seeing the deleted scenes...adds more to it! I like that it shows 2 people can become better than what they are if they work hard and have some hope! The Beverly Hills scenes are awesome
Pretty Woman is a classic movie. It's nice to see some of the scenes they deleted, but none of them would have changed the movie. That last scene though where she comes out and he says "I'm in the middle of West Side Story" and then has Darrell show his gun were pretty funny.
We friends had bunked college and did not know where to go. So we went to a DVD shop got this movie and watched in my friend's house. Can never forget how much we enjoyed the movie
They should have left the last scene in, adds color to Vivian's world. We only see Edward's world, not hers. This adds more similarity to the movie being like My Fair Lady. Thanks for posting, these scenes were a treat!
I love how the way the movie is edited as is. Pretty Woman is a fairy tale - as alluded to the beginning and the end. Too much gritty "realism" takes away that fantasy element as well as the beauty of the story. Fairy tales are sanitised and this should be the way to go. As such, the Hooker talk and rough scene outside the club detracts from the magical tone and quality of the movie. PS: I am of the opinion that the horse scene does not detract from the fantasy element, but I guess to make the movie tighter in terms of pacing, it could be deleted. PSS: Can't believe how I still love this movie after all these years... it does not feel dated. Timelessness of fairy tale (and I am so glad that they have resisted any attempts for a sequel)
When Pretty Woman first came out in the theaters it did not have these scenes in it. I remember going to see it when it first came out. It's one of my favorite movies. I bought the DVD years later and these scenes were in the movie. I don't know how that happened. To me the movie is better without these scenes.
I wish I had the DVD with the Director's Cut and all the deleted scenes left in. That's just how I am. It makes a lot more sense to leave in some things than it does to cut them. I neveer mind the extra time of watching those types of scenes.
I see her in the same light as in pretty woman, my favorite Julia Roberts movie of all time. Too me seeing her on letterman and 25 years later she still looks stunning as ever. What Can I say I love her
This movie was released in 1990, a lot of cell phones were like that. My parents had one and the battery pack was TWICE the size of the phone! You had to keep it plugged in if you were talking longer than 15 minutes! The car dealer sold it to them with a leather case disguised like a purse. I don't know how much people paid for those because it was a promotion: the first 25 buyers of the 1990 Jeep Cherokee Ltd got free cell phones with each purchase!
I like the movie the way it is except the scene outside the club and the "left pocket" part was a little funny! I also read that the script was originally darker and Vivian was a drug addict but they changed it to keep it lighthearted.
I grew up watching the movie with all these used in the movie. My grandma has it on vhs and I always loved it this way. Whenever I watch it on Hulu or somewhere else I always forget it was the uncut version I'm use to and none of this is shown.
Not all of these were deleted from the film ... I really wish they’d have kept the scenes with the horses though! They were both unbelievably beautiful and I know every line, just like you do!😽💋
I remember buying this on dvd directors edit version which included all these scenes put in place in order in the movie so i just assumed they always belonged. I prefer these scenes included
I didn't realize until today that I must have been watching the director's cut all this time because I know the film with these scenes in it. Rented it on Google Play tonight and realized a lot was missing
I have watched this movie like lots and lots of times and thank god these deleted scenes didn't make it... it kept fantasy, as its suppose to be fantasy love JR and RG in this.
I USED TO WONDER WHY THESE SCENES WERE NOT IN THE FILM WHEN IT CAME ON TELEVISION THEN I REALIZED IM USED TO WATCHING IT ON DVD AND IVE GOT THE SPECIAL EDITION 😆
