Oh my. Why oh why did you drill into your roof. You could have just used VHB tape and stuck it right down to your roof and it would never have moved again. Plus you used grease to seal the holes you drilled. Grease is not a sealant. You should have used Dicor Sealent. That is what is used to seal roof access points on RV roofs. I have to admit I was in pain watching you drill holes in that roof. Please get Dicor sealant on there soon or expect rust and water intrusion very soon.
I’ve never seen anyone drill this amount of holes into a car. Anyway, do you only need a charge controller to prevent back feed when the car is running? Or do you need some kind of diode as well?
What I cannot understand is why the hell you didn't adhere the solar panel to a piece of sheet metal or maybe plastic and have that attached to the roof rack . Jesus
