This is one of those videos where I naturally flip pacing when doing a tempo just to maintain a higher overall speed, I think it just makes sense to do this on anything more than a 20 minute run. It's nice that I'm using a system which just came naturally to me the same way the experts do.

Very interesting, but Moxy is $800, so for pros only and 5, or was it 6, Ketone IQ shots for one tempo session is 20-24 $/€/£. Ouch. It would be nice to discuss a fuelling strategy which costs less :).

I’m actually not sponsored by moxy, but you can find rentals and gain knowledge etc.. then send it back. It’s worth getting some knowledge, and I did similar with a glucose tracker. Learnt and then didn’t need it as much anymore or at all

Could you make a video on why we should stretch/how much/how often etc? I struggle a bit with lower calf and achilles pain, and I don’t do any stretching because local physios have told me it’s a waste of time, that it just creates more pressure on the muscles (for runners especially). Would like to get rid of these pains before it turns into an injury, without having to cut down on the training which will slow down the progress

If you’re doing specific to calves feet and knees I would do it daily not just 2 times a week, especially if it’s low impact like single leg balances, calf raises and ankle strengthening.

@@justinlam1515 definetly, but the strength exercises I do 2 times a week id heavy weight lifting like squats, RDLs, glute bridge, as well as weighted single cakf raises. What and how many workouts a week do you introduce after base training where I have only been doing strides @50 miles per week. My normal mileage is 75 per week but I have been taking it easy as I just moved across the country (US). Think I should do one or two sessions? Prioritize threshold sessions? Any answer will be appreciated! You’re awesome man!
@stephenscullion262
@stephenscullion262 2 месяца назад
I don’t think just threshold is the answer, but a good threshold session can help. If you’re planning 1 session per week for now, then consider something like 3 x 1 mile at threshold, with 90 secs rest, then 4 x 2 mins a bit harder, with equal rest. Each week the 2 min efforts could progress in pace / intensity, up to harder V02 efforts, but break yourself into that week 1 and 2, to help prevent injury.

Hi scullion, this is laxman from India. I am a 5k runner and as of now, I am using the super shoes for my track and tempo sessions and wanted to switch to the spikes for the same. I was wondering if you could make a video on how to use them for toe running as I heard that spikes help you a lot if you do them on your toes.

Potentially could have been faster than Kipchoge’s best if he responded better to the PED’s than other runners. Response to the actual drugs is key and practically unmeasurable until you’re on them, could have even made him worse if they effected his health/resilience long term. Hard to say for sure until he’s ran them in a marathon prep.

i really admire ur work but there is no real data that keton supplements work, especially to justify high price, obviously tour de france guys need some excuse
@jimoconnor8597
@jimoconnor8597 2 месяца назад
Actually, there is data from studies that showed some benefit and there are more recent studies that showed no benefit and even worse performance. The data is very inconclusive. My guess, just like with all other types of fueling and supplements, its individualized whether you respond or get benefit. I have tried Ketone IQ in 2 blocks with almost no observable benefit. Some mental clarity and maybe faster recovery? I have tried other ketone options out there and have had some far better success. As you point out though, the benefit does not seem to outweigh the cost. Probably be better to just run more or do more mobility work and save the $$$$$.
@CDhunt
@CDhunt 2 месяца назад
I think they have some benefits when used on an empty stomach. But I do feel like you build a tolerance up, like anything the initial intake is good but then you plateau. The price is ridiculous too. I’m guilty of buying into the hype but not stupid enough to realize it’s not making or breaking my runs.

Is it the same as believing those who are given shoes to review and expect an unbiased review form them.

They certainly put you into ketosis, I’ve checked (multiple times) and with a ketosis tracker (live tracking a bit like glucose tracking) which has benefits. I don’t think 3/4 of the peloton at the tour would be using if there wasn’t a benefit, and I know they’d be testing if it helps from a data perspective. I don’t think Team visma started using ketones because I plugged them on social haha
@karlbratby4349
@karlbratby4349 2 месяца назад
whilst I love your videos and content you create and have done for sometime, what im not keen on is the plugging of Keytone Iq, its the same on some other channels as well. this stuff maybe amazing but it is very expensive, 24 shots on a subscription is over £100 so even if use one shot per run thats a month supply. you mention you use 3 shots per your run in the video in that case will get through a lot quicker. What did we do before Keytone Iq? can we not focus on a natural cheaper alternative nutrition regime and fueling program?? Sorry to be negative but this is not good content to plug something so pricey, add that to the gear we use the gym membership etc etc so lets keep it real.

I use the product in training and so it’s natural for me to talk about. A - yes it’s not a cheap product B - nobody said you have to buy it, and if it is unaffordable, like super shoes, other supplements etc.. it doesn’t mean you can’t be a great athlete or benefit from other advice on the channel, C - I hope you understand support from sponsors is what makes all of this possible, and the channel can’t exist without sponsors covering costs. D - if you’d like to cover the costs of camera gear, hiring people to video, lights, microphones etc.. then sure in future I’ll consider 0 plugs. Let me know.
