Love your work Terry. Awesome way of looking at this situation. Whole hearted agree with 100% of what you said and what we need to do. This is about the boys on the park and getting dirty, getting the job done. Always love your take on our Baggers. Well done, keep it up.
Until these boys win a GF then they will live in the shadows as you said. Do they want to be remembered as a team that had a few individual awards? It's up to them.
"I don't want to see us being mentally dominated again." Sharp stuff, Terry. Perfect observation. I also share serious concerns around our narrative that all is sunshine and rainbows. Failing to acknowledge reality? As you say, the game is brutal, so be brutal... be the hunters.
I don’t understand some of the comments that we will win this weekend ,and easliy , There is no way on gods green earth we will win , maybe we would have had a slight chance if hawks didn’t drop that game against GWS, I hate being a sour sack , But we gonna get smashed 50+
The beliefs still there but I always wonder like wtf happened to that team that spanked Geelong? That ruthless, energy filled team is just gone and I'm just confused man 🥲
@@christophermurrell7337tdk is a big out and Walsh I dare say is limited..I feel like we’ve played around with the structure so much that the boys are confused with the message. I could be wrong. I’d like to see Cowan back in the team think he adds a bit to our backline maybe throw saad to a wing.
Really good preview, we haven’t gotten this deep for a while 😅 Look I’ll back them in, but reality is only they know how to figure things out. I can speculate but I’ll never truely have the answer so just gotta trust they know what they need and trust they’ll find it.
It should be a strong fight on Sunday. The hawks are smart and play good footy and Mitchell has built his list well with a lot of promise especially how he’s taken recycled/neglected players to that next lvl which I take my hat off to him for that. It’s gonna be a hard game for both clubs and I’ll definitely be there. Bring it on make or break
I’ve seen your emotions on display this week Terry. It’s very normal to go through all that, the only thing is you are recording it all. The video of the runner celebrating gave me chills. Great review mate! LFG🔥🔥🔥
Damn dude this was a deep one! I agree with you on how often we roll out the past players I love them all and they continue to do whatever the Club asks of them but I’m almost fatigued of seeing them We are definitely stuck in the ‘nice’ club category We can be good people and have the Carlton Respects round and do the children’s hospital over Easter weekend and all those good things But in the same breath we can be brutal players We luck that one or two guys that go bat shit crazy from start of game to end of game Each game Each week We could be 100 points up or 100 points down with 2 minutes to go and he’d still be going as hard as if the game was on the line Think Mitch Robinson type, maybe a Powel-Pepper from Port Our forward flow has never really gotten going this season and that’s on the back of it being a point of focus from last yr and over the preseason In the Pies game we, ONCE AGAIN, bomb and bomb and bomb and bomb it on top of Charlie’s head as our only method going forward Pies defenders quite literally had enough time to run over to Charlie, wait flat footed around him for a second before jumping up to spoil it Charlie constantly had 2-3 defenders around him literally standing there waiting for it to be bombed to him Charlie is in the leadership group and all and I said at the time that I’m not sure that’s his go. And I’m still not convinced at all.
Would be really helpful if Carlton played more than 1qtr of football. The real concern is only beat North Melbourne (not by a great margin) over the last 5 weeks. A loss this week would not surprise me . . . Injuries (like Sydney) are seriously hurting both football clubs! That's the reality of the beast! How bad do Carlton want the win? I would play Charlie out of the goal square and clear out the forward line . . .
Yes as supporters we care, hopefully the players care even more,do they want to make their own history,it’s time for this group to make a statement, win this game and top 4 is still possible, thanks for the preview Terry and let’s go blues
Staring at the ceiling in the dark, same old empty feeling in your heart...wait that's Darius Rucker sometimes called Hootie from the blowfish 🐡 😅😂 Party time is coming Party people 🎉🎉❤😊q
I feel like we are scooting around the major issues. We need some accountability. Like yeah we have not been stepping up to the plate and then the actions are needed
What I’m looking for this week & for the rest of the season is seeing the Ruthless edge that we seemed to have only 6 weeks ago return…… & in the words of the late great owner of the Oakland/La Raiders 🏴☠️ in the NFL who was as ruthless & nasty as anyone in professional sport …..JUST WIN BABY
I said this weeks ago: we lose, and the club churns out positive PR, even though you said that wasn't us anymore. This week has been full of PR from the club, and we're only halfway through. Let's face it, this is who we are. It always has been. Anyways, love your work Tez! Go blues💙
Really thoughtful monologue Tez. For all the ups and downs this year, I honestly feel there is a maturity in the fanbase which hasn't been matched by the playing group nor the club. It's long past time to get serious. If not now, when?
So good Terry. I’m over all the old player crap. Isn’t hasn’t given us what we want (I’ve seen 5 ps wins). Time has come. I looked after my broken heart this week by hiding away. Just resurfacing!
I was spewing when we lost last Saturday night, but I was fine as soon as I woke up Sunday morning, didn’t effect my mood during the week, shit happens, I’m a little annoyed we’re still losing to teams well below us, especially where we’ve fallen from on the ladder. Looking to our next game on Sunday I’m expecting a close difficult match with us to just come out on top Go Blues!
can’t help but notice that the players with the most grit and strongest work ethic during a game, excluding cripps and weitering, didn’t start their careers at carlton. I’m talking about kennedy, fog, newman, hewett, acres, sadd. Why is it that the players who have been at carlton the whole time can’t seem to keep that focus on the game?
I’m confident our team will commit itself from hereon. This league takes no prisoners and if you’re not 100% switched on and synergised as a team plus a strong talented and healthy list, then you won’t win the flag. Remember we lost Cerra and Cots early. The club should embrace all present and past Baggers. I never bought into what was being manifested when we were 11-4. I heard so many fans talk of winning the flag?! Getting way ahead of ourselves. Stick fat and we’ll be ok. Go Blues!!
Expectations of our our big boys are warranted: Charlie Harry & Pitto. I'm over defending Charlie. He's paid big bucks for the player he is. That's the Carlton side of the bargain. Now its time for him to deliver. His team mates have given him more supply than any other forward at Carlton let alone the AFL. He is trying to show strength in one on ones standing in the goal square. problem is he's usually in the wrong weight division to do that. Harry rag dolled is enough. Harry started the season in an awesome mood. Pitto has let himself and his opportunity down. I'm a fan, but can't let him off the hook for last week's performance. Then there's the big boys in defense who have let us down in one on one's over the last month. Just look at opposition marks and goals from I50 in the last 5 games, including our win. Enough is enough. Its time to get back to our brutal best, and play our role like a winner. I've seen all our GFs since 1968. Its time for the younger generation to experience the thrill of premierships from a team who has won the most....sadly, none in their life time. I have those kids. They are 16yo and 20yo. Come on Baggers. Its time.
Our club puts to much emphasis on the past. Forget the past and create your legacy. Also with Weithering saying we will learn from last week, well when do you stop learning and do. You learned in 2021 and 2022. Just do.
Nah, various combinations of this group have gone 8-2, won 9 in a row, and smashed all but one of the top teams this year when they were in form. Even when we play poorly it takes the absolute best plus usually a near career-best year from a star to beat us by at most two goals. They're ready, all the pieces are there. But once again they fall off when the brain trust starts trying new things, uses guys wrong - or not at all FFS - and has a game plan that's trying to react to chatter and existential fears and overcompensating for perceived weaknesses. Some of the players having to play out of their strengths is forced by injuries, I get that. But most of this is self-inflicted. You want brutality? Stop worrying that the midfield is too slow and put the real bulls where they belong. It's dumb and short-sighted coaching that Cerra has to be injured in order for Kennedy and Hewett to play together with Cripps and even Walsh. Stop waiting for turnovers that may or may not happen. Go where the opponent is instead of trying to be clever. You don't get numbers on the ball by playing a zone and guessing what happens next. Stop forcing long kicks just for the sake of quick ball movement and play the game that's in front of you; pass it to the open teammate in front of you rather than hope Charlie can do a Phil Krakoeur every time. I don't give a flying #$%^ what Buckley or Cornes or King say about short kicks being the anti-Christ. Move bodies ahead of the ball with purpose and you can move the ball quickly enough. Every opposing team is going to flood our forward 50 unless we control the center bounce and get quick scoring opportunities. This group set the league record for scoring out the center bounce but somehow we're slow and shouldn't try that anymore? Opposing teams are happy to do it to us every week but we're supposed to think nobody does that in the modern game because shiny turnovers? WTAF. When it takes longer to get inside 50 look for the open man instead of bombing to a contest. We have two guys open every damn time but don't use them because instruction has been "play the percentages". @#$% that. Stop trying to keep the ball in our forward half with the back line up too far and spread too far and hope to Christ a wing can get back to the goal square in time to stop a loose opponent. We used to be able to control territory without doing that. Take the shackles off and keep them off. Let the players play to their strengths. It's not that complicated, and they've already done everything I'm talking about with success so we know it works. It's good that Hawthorne is another chaos ball and run-and-gun team, because it's almost like getting a do-over. I think that will help with decision making and reaction time.
To be 100% honest Tez i think you are WAAAAY overthinking the stuff with the old players. That's the club rolling em out, marketing etc. Lets be real, we are EXACTLY where we deserve to be. Past 6 weeks we've gotten ahead of ourselves and had far too many passengers. In saying all that, ive got a strong gut feel that we take care of Hawks comfortably I thought after Geelong game that we were a genuine flag threat, in the games since ive realised we arent quite at that point yet, we're not ready. It is what it is. Our best is great but we just can't do it often enough or for long enough. Our brutal list calls will be made at end of season Tez, there's a few that will be gone Go Blues
