No emotion left for this team, but listening to you guys speak of the Kennedy move has angered me. This guy has been the whipping boy since Bolton was coach. Why is he always the guy that gets dropped ? Absolute bs that he got dragged.

Possums, my brain has been in a fog for two weeks! I’ve just woken up! How did we fair with the Lions? Oh, I see best not to ask! Same Brocken record then? The players seemed to have caught my disease for the first two quarters it seems. Did someone mention no pressure? Dismal performance. Inconsistency is basically poor football. That sums up my team! Sick of hearing we will do better next year! Or indeed that woke expression of “We have learnt lessons” etc. Etc. Too many players punching above their real abilities (Does that include the coach)? No need to name them. We know who they are. I’m lowering my expectations for next year. That way I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we are capable of getting somewhere of note on the Ladder. Tez, you’re a gem and I have a soft spot in my possum heart for you. You are my real Carlton! Can I wave my paw (virtually of course) to all the blue baggers who are feeling down. Don’t worry possums, in life there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Let it shine!

I'd suggest that the opposite might be the case. Hansen and the Brain Trust in the Box started "trying a few things" (Walsh's words, not mine) and went away from what Voss wanted. Who was saying Pittonet is miles better than TDK? Everyone wants him gone. We got beat in the midfield later because they split the band up and @#$%ed things up. Here's where it went south: R17 v GWS (2nd time): Hewett dropped. Pittonet dropped. We beat them handily the first time with Hewett in and 2 rucks. R18 v Bulldogs: Hewett still dropped, Kennedy as sub! Two rucks this time, probably not necessary, but I'm okay with it. Elijah thrust into the midfield playing the second bull role, FFS, obviously without much instruction or coordination. R19 v Roos: Fab 5 back on the field, but Cerra played back. Pittonet dropped. Beat them easily but Xerri broke TDK, and we played him after he punctured his lung until Xerri stomped on his foot. R 20 v Port: Cerra played at halfback, no time in the middle, obviously TDK done for the regular season. However, Cincotta starting in the middle because he was tagging Butters. Which worked great for the first half, until he cried to Hinkley and was moved away. Then Cottrell went on him instead of Cincotta (my fault, I admit) Butters went to town. Also no Big Shot Blake and no Harry, both super important for ball movement against this team. And we made Ratugalea look like an AA lock, not the midfield's fault. R 21 v Collingwood: Cerra still down back, Cincotta in the middle to tag DeGoey for a bit, Kennedy as @#$%ing sub again. Underdone Cottrell and Motlop not helping. R 22 v Hawthorne: Cerra out with the hammy, everyone else dropping like flies. No need to revisit that nightmare. R 23 v West Coast: We beat them with our VFL side, revenge for 2021. Meh. But now Binns, Lord, and Moir are the Magical Kids who will save the season. R 24 v St. Kilda: Oops, the Magical Kids couldn't beat a mediocre St. Kilda team where Ross had a plan and our Brain Trust in the Box didn't see the space he was happy to give us because he knew they're a bunch of muppets. No Cerra, Kennedy playing forward not on the ball. Our amazing midfield got beat and they're to blame because there were no injuries? Really? When did we have it intact for any length of time here? And through all of it, we forgot how to rotate guys through the middle except for cameos, and worst of all Sam Walsh very possibly used wrong and spending 80% of the game on the ball inside and chasing, forced to do what Kennedy should be doing instead of setting him free like he was in last year's finals and in his first breakout year. This smash the contest and pressure is unsustainable, Voss is a fool, we can't do it? Really? How do we know? We didn't even try to do it for a full season, certainly not with the right pieces together or right setup. And that wasn't even the whole story, as we have cohesion problems down back and still spastic getting the ball inside 50. Start here, and then we can address the issues that follow from it.

Young had more than four spoils, surely. And he had 10 interceptions. Daniher at times was strolling around with no one near him. Weitering was trying to do too much elsewhere. Saad was the object of attention by Lions. Often two guys trying to cut off his angles. And I'm on record hating it when he's assigned a lockdown. Cowan got hung out to dry by teammates a few times. This keeps happening. McGovern probably most guilty, but they keep demanding he covers for them when they run up looking for an intercept or whatever, and Cowen is already trying to lock his own man down. A couple times he was stuck between two opponents and then expected to handle a third 15 meters away. Stats won't show what they put him through. All a symptom of the larger problem of a discombobulated back line in dire need of a structural rehaul. They've been relying on hero ball rather than playing as a unit for much of the year. This also affected how Ollie was able to play back there, obviously. And he did better on Zorko than anyone, FFS. Never mind the stats and heat map, I want to know how much Cripps is able to lead the game plan and adapting to the game in front of them. And he could have had help, but no, the Brain Trust in the Box made Kennedy a forward again then subbed him out early. I had the same expression on my face as he did. Kemp needs to figure something out or he'll be spending next year in the VFL once Jack Silvagni comes back and one or more of the kids start getting games. They started Kennedy forward, and he was smothered. Disaster. Not starting TDK is moronic. Mo-@#$%ing-ronic. We know the number one priority of this game was to smash the center and get the work done early. Of course TDK is required from the start. Sub him out once he's tired. For Carroll or something, whatever. Elijah is tired, been that way the last three or four games. First full season, more or less, I think? And in a very active and physical role mostly. Harry didn't move up the wing to present a target because we traded him! (Sorry, couldn't resist. I will let it go now.) Hansen didn't have him move up because Charlie wasn't there and they panicked after seeing the forward mess against St. Kilda. Wrong call, but there you are. I got the impression Motlop was told to follow the ball and hang around stoppages. He was actually helpful there, stats won't show it. 4 tackles as well. Wrong instructions this time, I think. Possibly due to lack of faith from coaches? Another weird one. The kickouts in Pittonet's direction were mostly garbage anyway. Nowhere near him. More reactive, whacky decisions. Cerra was involved early, then faded. Acres hurt his shoulder early and had a rough time. Worked hard but with little help. Pommy keeps asking about roles I'm thinking normal roles went out the window for most the way Brisbane pushed them around and had numbers on and around the ball. Panic in the box. Big questions need to be asked now. PS: Kennedy as sub? Pommy is fired. PPS: They subbed out Voss! WTH is going on?

As an outsider looking at your entire club's performance it seems to be death by a 1000 cuts from top to bottom, from the present & its past. The final's debacle was the culmination of not just glaring & basic errors by Voss, selectors, mgt & players, but a culture of saving face by doing whats considered 'safe' or at least 'known' so that recriminations r avoided from the media/fans (& maybe advertisers??.) The culture doesnt seem focused on footy success but on marketing & business success, using PR spin in place of honest output. The vibe seems like its stuck in the 80s & 90's. Of just throwing paper bags of $$$ at top players & coaches so the rest can somehow take care of itself. That era has long gone, but as it worked back then that blueprint seems entrenched. Team selection illustrates this PR mentality, even I know no team can take in 6 or so walking wounded (albeit stars) lacking wks or months of match fitness & expect to beat a lowly team much less a finals team. The 2nd half comeback was not so much Blues getting better (notwithstanding TDK's great input) but Lions just playing out the game unscathed. Had they seriously wanted to keep scoring the result would have been much worse. 0 - 60 doesn't happen by chance. Junk time goals is nothing to be proud of. The entire game was a complete disaster, not just the 1st half. Selection integrity has been non-existent for yrs, jobs for the mates it seems. What young player would risk going to CFC knowing only the inner circle (clique) get games even if shite. Where's player development integrity, ie reward for performance? Rather, its reward for player price tag (marketability) or simply mateship with Vossy. Or is mgt trying to get ROI out of its top players (investments)? And injury is not only about luck but also about skillful management once injured but also injury avoidance in the 1st place via strategic & tactical mgt of players, lists, & games to avoid the need for players to put themselves into high-risk situations to save games or cover ever growing team vulnerabilities or weaknesses. Add strange tactics, & many other odd activities by the club, coaches/selectors, & players, & its easy to understand why a 1000 cuts was enough to undermine their finals contention. Anyway, just my 2c worth, for what its worth. Great show guys keep it up!!! Pom has incredible insight & analysis, & showmanship to boot.

Jesus christ listen to the interviews by Walsh and Weitering. If these are on field leaders then no wonder we dish this shite up Both players hopefull this will fuel the hunger for next yr. Wtf ya hoping for.. it has to fuel it. Explains how you can replicate season 2022 and learn nothing when ya just hoping. Hope is for the fans who cant influence the game other than supporting Weitering said the fans were brilliant and that it "took a little while for them to get on the board" mate it was fucken 60-0 23mins into 2nd quarter How about taking some accountability and saying to the fans that its not good enough and they group vow to not let it happen again. Show some strong words. He said hes "sure the furture is bright" i wouldnt follow this bloke across the street let alone on a footy field if this is his mentality. Same as Voss, fuck all conviction in his words. Compare it to Sam Mitchell and then look at the results. These leaders are fucked

I hate when club go like we need supporters...we need your support...our aim for this year is such and such number of members...what the Hell...we can have 1 million paid up members and we will not do anything...CFC has to make a statement...to publicly apologise to us....hardcore supporters...I sacrifice absolutely everything including my own fam to attend games...to travell interstate...to lose my own voice in 1st q......I will never give up on Carlton but what we get in return is radiculous..I agree with Jed 100 percent.....reality that is....love yous all....and get use to it....we r not ready......P.S. is there such thing as a motivational coach? If there is,he should of been sacked half way this season...if there is not, then employ someone to do the job......

Voss is a poor mans Macrae. Good and patting people on the back and talk the talk! But wontwalk it tactically inept and lives 3 years behind were the game is heading. Carlton were stupid bordering on delusional for allowing Inept Russell continue with his outdated training methods. Every year same shit. Mounting injuries top five in the AFL. Cant have continued success when there is no contuinity ! Simple top sides have better injury management high performance people! Had the chance to pick a tactically acute coach who knows where the modern game is going. But instead chose a failed coach who rarely turn it around second time coming! Reason bc Voss was a champion player and was good for marketing purposes! But not only that they surround with yes men hacks for the expetion of hansen! High performane rubbish coaching staff average. What do you get a mid table team going nowhere! Rinse and repeat! And by the way keeping perianally injured players on the list were younger players could have been drafted/recruited! Psyche. Bringing back Docherty with no game time in a final mind due is insanity!! No selection intergrity poor management of injuries. Its bc you have the wrong people in positions who are making these decisions! Another rebuild is around the corner if this mediocraty continues!! And it will bc they wont overhaul the line coaches! And the new fitness guy needs time to fix the ineptness of Russell if he can!! Over and out!!😂😂

Thanks for another great year of content and engagement. And thanks for letting people even on the other side of the planet who have no ide what's going on contribute, even tangentially. Was that a game review or a season review? Numbers. Numbers on the ball, numbers around the ball, numbers where the ball is going. Blues got outworked and outclassed, beat at our own game. Simple as. Sickening stat, end of the 2nd Q: Lions Center Clearances: 9 Blues Center Clearances: 2 Lions Goals: 9 Blues Goals: 2 The two sets aren't direct cause and effect, of course, as we scored more out of the center bounce in the end. It's just a sign of how we got beat at our own game. Although before everyone blows up the team and sacks everyone except the water girl, remember no Charlie, no Owies, no Fogarty. Not that they would be been able to change the fact that the ball almost never went past the arc, but still. The main story will be "lost at selection", although it's more about the worrying mindset behind it. Ultimately, have to accept that we were an out of form side struggling with consistency issues and having to absorb yet another significant lineup change. Never a recipe for success. And I promise I'm not saying it's an excuse for what we witnessed. Just one of a few ugly facts. And they subbed out Voss! We started with equal pressure, more or less, then it fell away. But we approached the center bounce and other stoppages wrong from the start, and that was the beginning of the end. Not all Pittonet's fault by any means. He was not supported and our best midfield setup wins clearances regardless of who taps it. We ran into a team that was better prepared, and better organized. And is it just me, or did Brisbane bodies look bigger all game? Must have been an optical illusion, but it sure seemed like it. No, playing the kids wouldn't have helped. They'd have been monstered and worn out. They couldn't even beat an average St. Kilda squad, but if Moir runs out three quarters they can beat this Brisbane team? Please. We did get slightly ahead in the stoppages eventually, but too little too late and our ball use under pressure prevented anything from really taking hold. And they subbed Voss out! The Kennedy thing was not my fault. Those were not my instructions! I know I said he better not be sub or everyone is fired, but I also explicitly said TDK can rest forward and play the game. Instead we get Kennedy stuck under the tallest tree and forced to play a foot taller with impossible delivery. And then take forward ruck duties against McInerny? What are we doing? He should have been smashing the center with Cripps and have Walsh outside where he can help us spread. That's one way to get free from Brisbane's pressure. TDK forward from the start would have made a difference, and having him take a couple center bounces would have helped us turn it around more quickly. Especially with Kennedy in there. They sure subbed TDK in fast enough once they realized they @#$%ed up, so nobody even try to tell me they were that worried he couldn't play a full game. If you're dressed out you can play the game, period. Dealing in half-measures is a loser mentality (which I will fully contradict with the Willis Reed story, of course, but not really). Start him and then sub him out for whoever later. Instead, we're forcing ourselves away from the proper brand of football and getting beat at our own game at the same time. Embarrassing. And the defensive structure: diabolical! Lions allowed to waltz around unguarded, Cowan stuck trying to guard two guys while McGovern is miles away doing something else (been an issue for a while now), Weitering not taking charge of anything other than his own direct opponent. And not even then as we put so many different people on Hipwood I half expected to see you out there taking turns on him by the end of the 3rd. Meanwhile, everyone else getting loose. Rayner running around like he had a five meter wide protective bubble around him that nobody could touch. It even seemed like Fagin had the Gabba crew set up a forcefield around a 10 meter-wide circle at the top of each arc that only his players could cross, since Ah-Chee and others had no trouble taking marks there and nary a Blue guernsey near them. Again, more numbers where they belonged and we didn't adjust shape. Not set up with a chance to succeed, not taking chances to get it back. That's kind of on everyone. But this zone-but-not-zone business has to stop. It makes guys late to the contest, for one thing. Also sickening: 42 tackles. We were nowhere near the ball carrier half the time. Out of position, not being responsible. Don't try to tell me the Lions are a bunch of speed demons and we're too slow. It can be done if we set up correctly in the first place and don't get drawn to the ball while an opposing player skips gayly behind two Blues for an easy outlet pass. And they subbed out Voss! And yet another instance of the Brain Trust in the Box listening to the football chatterati (a clear pattern now), this time to those who tell us nobody tags anymore and you're just taking a spot from a better player. So Cincotta rots and Motlop then Fantasia on bloody Zorko. Sticking Ollie on him later basically took Ollie out of the game for a while. Not helpful. Seriously, what are we doing? Cincotta has more notches on his belt this year than Zack Butters has fines, but no, don't need that this time. Durdin simply not up to playing against those bigger bodies. Sorry, love the guy, I thought he supplied a lot of good pressure and tackling when Fogarty went out earlier in the season with a broken wrist, and can do again. But not right now. Motlop was actually pretty okay. Four tackles, at least some pressure effort, even helping out in stoppages a couple times. He might be seeing what's around him again. They subbed Voss out! What are we doing? I bet you wish we did a Willis Reed with Docherty now. Instead, they burned their powder two days early and his biggest contribution (apart from the goal) was giving the dopey journos the chance to make most of the post-game presser all about him and distract from the fiasco on the field. Having said all that, we did get beat by the better team. No shame in that per se. It's just they're not really the better team. They played one of their best games this year, which you have to do to beat this group. And they were much better prepared and for whatever reason our boys couldn't get their act together. All the mistakes under pressure, looking at each other instead of where they were supposed to be. Why that keeps happening is a discussion for another time. But I think the clues are there if we want to see them. And they subbed out Voss! What is going on? PS: Is it bad that the thing I'm most angry about is there's no good way to shoehorn in a final joke about how we traded Harry? Okay, I'll let it go now. But I'm back in if someone starts something like the Petracca clown show again.
