Disgusting to have one of the best regular car restorations and _that_ in such close proximity. Absolutely disgusting; I mean make your money where you can sure, but keep that trash away from something as meaningful as Miles....
There's a Škoda Octavia in Czech Republic that have done 1.000.000 km (that's 621 371,2 miles). When it hit it that 1mil km, tacho didn't even shown numbers, just x's. It's now in Škoda museum, and Škoda gave the man, who owned it, fully new Octavia. Class.
Man my father made about 8.7 milions of km on Skoda Felicia some time ago and no one gave a fuck 😄 (driving is his for and he had the car for about 10 years)...
should have gave it back to the original owner if it's the last episode, he could put another 400,000 miles on it. felt wrong he really wanted it back...
Why? The last owner can't have loved it that much, it was in a horrendous state aside from the mechanicals of the car. And the CT team and/or their associates spent lots of time and money to get it looking how it does now. The old owner doesn't deserve to be given that for free.
Give that man that pristine car back. You brought #Miles back to his original owner= #RusselRelentlessservicemaster He is proof that if you care for your vehicle it will care for you.
I get that everyone wants CT to keep it, but honestly, Russell deserves to have it. I think CT should consider giving it away to Russell. (Oh and if he still has the transit van offer, do something fun with that)
From time to time I revisit this whole series. It makes me so happy and proud to be Czech, that you, all around the world love something from our country. It's pathetic from my side, but I can't help myself. We take these cars for granted, just honest hard workers. And you appreciate them. Thank you.
What's gonna happen to him now? I personally would have given it back to it's original owner and stayed in touch with him, with regular update videos regarding the mileage and condition... But I guess Alex could also use a car that actually has an engine in it and can get him from A to B without breaking down 😂
Stimpy&Ren I think it’s because the whole interior was second hand. (That’s why Skoda did it for free. If you look, the drivers seat is also quite worn. And a bit damaged.)
It's good to see an old friend for the first time. And I'm glad that car didn't get send to the scrap yard. Cars like that deserved a second chance in life.
lol its a vw it wont get past 500k without major bottom end work. also next time u go on the motorway looks how many vw's are on the side broken down. i counted the other month 12 from west-midlands to Plymouth
Bernd but you saw how happy the original owner was to se it restored, it hurts seeing your car being sold or scrapped, i recently sold my old car it was a shitbox tbh but i was still devastated when i saw it leave, that's why i tought it would be nice for the original owner to get miles back.
this is the best thing someone can do, i would love to sit in one of my old cars 1 last time, it brings back a lot of memory`s. great series, i am also a proud owner of a skoda superb dsg with 405000 km and it drives perfect(i was actually inspired by your series to buy it ). good job guys
Are you kidding me? Been following since the beginning. This car really should go back to the original owner if it’s not going to be daily driven. Gotta hit that 1million mile mark!
stijn spoelstra Do you understand the concept of selling something? You sell it, it no longer own it. It is not his car, therefore Alex has no obligation to give it back.
I’m late to the party, but I loved this series!! You have inspired me to try and buy back my old lost friend (2012 Honda Accord Coupé ~90,000mi I used to call Hondaghini) and restore it back to when I bought it brand new. It would be awesome to see it and see how many “Miles” it’s accumulated since we parted ways.
It's only been three hours and this video has over 100k views and 1.9k comments. Super work, gentlemen. This has been one of your most satisfying series. Bravo to everyone.
New to the channel. Fantastic series I'm a big Skoda fan especially the Octavia. Brilliant to see how good they are and one restored to such a high standard. Well done all involved.
I think I speak for many when I say I want a Miles T-Shirt. But the biggest question I have is, what will become of him now? Car Throttle camera car? A company pool car? Or will Skoda be taking him to show off at events of how well Miles has done? If not, I’m sure I’m not the only person here who would quite happily make an offer to buy him.
I think Skoda is not really interested in this car, because there is Fabia mark 1 out there with more than 1 million kilometers on the clock. I think the Fabia is now in a museum.
Bear with me here, even though it does not make alot of sens Just give this great guy his old car back man. Don't be greedy. You know it's the right thing to do. This is just embarrassing for everyone. Gringeworthy Go back to this guy and surprise him. It's never too late (to be great). The positive karma will help you with other projects and more people will give you stuff for being a great dude. We will pay you to give him his car back. I know you will do the right thing EDIT: being going through the comments and everyone wants you to give it to Russell. I cannot imagine anyone saying: "nah, Russell does not deserve it". What a great guy, Russell was clearly very emotional. Oh well, guess I'll just keep watching Car SOS.
Though i do agree, plus the fact Russel owned it, and Alex has done all this, i think, i don't think it was more greedy than getting your change back from the supermarket, and i don't think it's something to say such, but at the sane time, it would be a good say to give or offer it to Russel, it's the end of the series anyways.
I spent several minutes of my time watching this series, and I'd personally be happier if Russel gets Miles back. Maybe some of you others don't agree, I'm just saying what makes sense to me. SERIOUSLY - it's just an old car with new paint & interior. 108 horsepower? That belongs with Russel.
Cars are special and like he said, it is very emotional... But don't let that get the best of you, I'm sorry to say but that is a great car. And if he should give it back, how about the original, *1st* owner? I don't have an opinion on the matter, but I want you to think about why he shouldn't either a *bit* more... Edit: you could even say it isn't cliche and doesn't clickbait for views by giving the car back. :P
Came in 4 years later to say that this was my favourite video series made by Car Throttle. Miles always was in my mind for all over this year's, being a big Vag fan, I think that in all Europe it's the best series of a diesel shitbox with a high mileage.
I've throughly enjoyed this whole story. I love my Skoda and I've been inspired to get mine retuned and chipped and pampered forever. Skoda definitely has had the last laugh!
Car Throttle There is no last episode. These are the videos we want. Old cars/affordable cars. like under $5000. This stuff is way more fun to watch. Nobody cares about expensive cars. If you do, your a child. This is the real world, do real world cars like this and your mx5 etc. Thanks I have a 92 Mercedes Turbo Diesel in the states with 360K and I love it.
“You look after a car and it will look after you” 100% agree. Please do another season as this reality you have out light to is awakening a greater reality inside each drive/owner. There is a genuine relationship possible and hopefully now encouraged. Love it
My first new car disproved that Axiom. I had to go back to the dealer for a repair before I made it home! It went downhill from there. 42 work orders at the dealership in 18 months and 30,000 miles. Only once did it limp from one scheduled maintenance to the next. It took three pages to list everything that broke in that 3,000 miles! It was hopeless.
Seriously mate, neck up and give him his car back. We all want to see it. It's the number one request being made for Miles. Don't let us down, your viewers and Russel!
Alex is the stingiest dude ever. Every post has ads. Every video is promoted. Even on every instagram post he has the second tab reserved for his store. He makes a fuck ton of money and still wouldnt give away 250 pounds. Pathetic
It's not just Alex, it's CarThrottle. I best CarThrottle owns the car and perhaps Alex did want to give it to him, but he couldn't. Whoever it is, though, the guy should've gotten the keys handed to him
Well the guy probably sold the Octavia because he got a new car. No matter how cool the transformation is, I doubt he had the money or even wanted to buy it back and have 2 cars.
Disappointed that you didn't give Miles back to Russell. What happens to Miles now? It wouldn't be as loved as if you gave it back to Russell to put another couple of hundred thousand miles on the odometer.
You're a very talented presenter and car journalist Alex! I wish you the very best for the future and hope the channel gets the recognition it deserves as I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. This series has been my favourite by far for showcasing exactly what every motorist should do and that is simply "look after your car" and it will go forever and a day. WELL DONE ALEX AND THE WHOLE TEAM AT CAR THROTTLE!
Duvanie Smart It's a '99 Supra. No turbo, automatic gearbox. Not much of a legend at all. That's like someone claiming their "girlfriend is an Olympian", but you find out that she competes in the special Olympics and she looks like a munter. Technically true but still disappointing.
Angel G.S I'm actually currently helping my cousin 2JZGTE & Manual trans swap his 2JZGE automatic Supra.. So I know first hand that with the money you'd spend converting it to "make it better" it'd be cheaper to just buy a standard TT Manual. If only his dad didn't give the car to him and it costed him nothing he probably wouldn't have bothered to convert the car at all. N/A Autos just aren't worth it.
