A small but fair sized proportion of the population is incredibly ignorant of everything, let alone economics. Lets hope they have a tiny bit of common sense and realize the economic problems they are facing are precisely because of democratic policies and huge amounts of inflation, creating money out of nothing, called counterfeiting if you and I do it, but called quantitative easing if superrich and evil private bankers do it. @@raybod1775 additionally, Venezuela specifically did not get most of its income from crop exports so even when sanctions don't apply to that industry (they did under Trump) it's a but facetious to say that sanctions aren't affecting its economy
One thing missing from this report is differentiating between essential, basic, raw food items like fresh meat, onions, carrots, potatoes, rice, flour, sugar, and so on, vis-a-vis canned, processed foods. I'm not sure what the situation is in the US, but in Australia, for the first category, supermarkets have markups anywhere between 200% and 500%, perhaps going up to 1000% I would guess. That's why they are making billions of dollars in profit every quarter, while the average Joe is struggling to make ends meet. I believe some government price controls on basic raw foods are necessary when this is happening.

Living in the country north of the USA, I'm not sure the printing of trillions of dollars is the culprit in insane food prices. Our govt did not print trillions out of thin air yet food prices are astronomic. I'll give one example: a can of coffee used to cost 6.99 - 7.99 ea...now that same can of coffee is 24.99 ea. Yes I know there were some rumored rumblings that coffee crop yields might be down, but that was in 2020...we've had four years of reduced coffee yields? That would have made front page news! I realise profit margins are tiny on food items, but I believe food manufacturers saw an opportunity to increase their profit margins under the guise of 'inflation'. Imo.
