Never paid to watch a UFC event. Seen all of them since around '97

Higher ticket prices will only have the hardcore fans not go anymore. The seats will be filled by wealthier people who care less about the fights and are less intense and loud fans. Gates will go up, seats will remkain full BUT the atmosphere will slowly move into that business party feel we saw in Saudi.

Did anyone else notice the empty seats at UFC 299? There seemed to be quite a few of them considering how big the event was.

Some friends and I went to the Overeem/Rozenstruik Fight Night at the end of 2019. We had good mid-level seats and the tickets were about $150 each. Not long ago I looked at the ticket prices for the upcoming Atlantic City card. Nosebleeds were like $300.

As a long time UFC fan pre tough boom I have to laugh when I see the ticket prices. Let me put it this way....I spent something like $25 for a seat and the following guys fought on the card: Tito Oriz, GSP, Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin, Trigg, Evan Tanner, Lawler. Thats just one example. Once UFC went mainstream forget it. Insane prices. I haven't been to a live UFC in well over 10 years. Spend your money on small regional shows and watch UFC on tv.

Sports are an escape from the drudgery of life for a lot of people. Asking them to abstain based on price complaints is a fools errand.

It's not a monopoly. There are other organizations. There are other combat sports.They only have only cornered the market on the product they built, the UFC. That's not a monopoly. That's like saying Taco Bell has a monopoly on the Mexican pizza.

I had the opportunity to go to UFC 287 and UFC 299. Tickets for nosebleeds started out at 1K and $500+ respectively. Mind you, most outlets have $200 tacked on for several different fees. I didn't go to either.... I did go to the UFC Fight Night: Jacaré vs. Hermansson paid $180ish for row 6 in lower 100's. A few years and a fight night to ppv make a big difference.... 😮‍💨🤷🏽‍♂️

Until people stop buying them they won’t lower the price.

UFC Ticket prices are like concert tickets. Depends on the time, the location and the Venue. Example: UFC Apex tickets average $1,600 - 4k as it's generally VIP UFC in New Jersey at the Boardwalk hall those tickets are only $140 (Affordable) If you want to Travel to Saudi Arabia at the Kingdom Arena it's $400 - $1,900 I went to see an Amateur fight in Stockton last year and it was $120 per ticket, and that's an Amateur Promotion. Now that's pricing. I've been to 2 StrikeForce, 1 Bellator and 2 UFC fights. UFC was well worth the money, everything about it was top level Production. StrikeForce was just fights nothing spectacular (Fights were amazing, not the production value). Bellator was actually pretty decent, Production / Ticket price was actually on point. Never been to PFL but if a live event is anything like Video Entertainment Production then I bet it's sh*t. But I'm telling you, UFC was worth every bit of money, expensive yes, but I am so glad I went.10/10 experience both times.

Just an observation. This mirrors the same issue fighters have with trying to start an association or union. If all fighters stood together on fighter pay, they could get something done. Similarly, if MMA fans collectively stopped buying high priced seats and PPV, the prices would have to come down. But fans keep buying them, and the fighters won't negotiate together.

I agree Luke. However, you could apply this to fighter pay. You and many others advocate for better fighter pay but still tune in and consume UFC media. Is it not the same?

I do think the better viewing expierence is watching via espn+, but when i went to topuria vs emmett in Jacksonville, Florida, i didn't think it was too expensive but then again it was in Jacksonville

I agree for the most part, however I think the UFC has a monopoly due to quality and not due to monopolisation. They're technically a monopoly because no one wants to watch One, or PFL/Bellator because they offer such a diminished product in comparison. BUT, like Formula 1 the UFC is just becoming a rich mans sport. I've accepted the fact that I'll probably never see a live UFC event again in my lifetime.

Id never pay to go to a UFC event or for a PPV. Most id pay for a UFC PPV is $20. I thought attendances were down since they run shows at the ApEX like 2-3 times a month.

In my opinion, UFC live events should be a 1 time deal just to experience it live. After that PPV is the way to go. You get more bang for your buck watching it one TV. Youre paying highly expensive tickets for everyone at the stadium to be looking at the big screen anyways.That was the experience i had

It’s not a monopoly there are other options but people don’t like it or want it, you talk like their wants bellator, or PFL or one and the many others that fell off, yes their maybe cheaper mechanics but you’ll get crappier service. It’s like telling a NBA fan to go to a WNBA game because it’s cheaper to buy tickets. It is, but who cares!

It’s like the Super Bowl. Somebody will pay it. I’ve been to three UFC events in Kansas City, Milwaukee and my hometown of Detroit. I saw DJ fight and Francis nearly decapitate Overeem with my son. So if that’s it for me ever seeing live UFC events again I’m good.

I see it more as complaining about the broken system. UFC priced out the average Joe fans and replaced them with celebrities and socialites who can afford to be seen at PPV events. So even when the loyal fans boycott, the rich will keep the gears grinding. So for now, there is no course correction in sight. The same thing is happening to my beloved Oakland A's. They are deserting their diehard Bay Area fans to capture the LV tourist audience who will pump out better attendance numbers and make current boycotting efforts by diehards null and void. The system is broken, so yelling at neighborhood kids is all I have left Luke! Lol.

Your great idea is every one band together, don’t buy PPV and don’t go to fights. Your idea is just as dumb as the people complaining, if people won’t come together on basics like politics, race and all the other major issue what world are f***ing living in where you think people would do that. It sounds cut but it’s not realistic so your just as confused thinking people will effect the market enough to change the way UFC business.

There's enough rich people to sustain all of the unreasonable over priced products. $500-3,000 is throwaway money for shit ton of people. Saying people need to stop paying is the only way to lower the prices is a half assed take. That isn't the way. Luxury products exist. Rich people exist. "everyone needs to stop paying" isn't a reality. People buy Bentlys and Lamborghinis. People buy $500 shirts. These companies and brands exist because there's enough rich people to sustain them. UFC has chosen their events to be for rich people or really dumb poor people, much like the playoffs and super bowls. They are a luxury. That's it. It doesn't mean fans can't or shouldn't complain. You don't lower the price of over priced luxury products by telling poor people to stop buying them. They literally exist without a penny from poor people, they are luxuries, they exist for rich people. They are sustained and used by rich people.

OK, Understand this, the price is ALWAYS set by the market. The day the tickets are too expensive is the day nobody buys them. The UFC would be stupid to sell for less. If they sold tickets for $10 then all that would happen is they'd sell out in 60 seconds and then most of those tickets would REsell for market price. So why does Dana brag? Marketing. He let's you know that his product is worth buying and the longer you wait, the more it will cost. And he's right. Tickets cost what people will pay.

So every event sold out, average attendance like 20k. And you get 10 comments with complaints, so are there really complains or it is like with "pronouns" only 0.001% of loud mouths on the internet?

The weirdest thing about these comments is that so many people think this is pricing out “hardcore fans” as if a pre-requisite of being a fan of MMA is being poor. Just because YOU can’t afford these tickets doesn’t mean people who can afford them are less of a fan than you.

Only Luke can go on a 7 minute monologue with clunky metaphors and repeating himself to death, to convey a simple point, which can be expressed in one or two sentences. And then, probably, think, it was so profound, he should make a separate video out of this. Jesus.
