Considering that they can out DPS shadow priests (top parses) and some hunters / lower DPS, absolutely! I'm searing light spec this week to speed up our trash time / Loatheb / Grob / Noth kills with DMF.
@@epjones366 With it's half uptime it kind of suffers overall for dps. You're not really gaining a lot casting it over smite. Where it shines though is casting it when you have to move.
@Chris Osoniak The reason smite priests are not brought to raids in Classic and TBC is they give no buffs or utility, other than Power Infusion which is up 1/12 of the fight. 40m group with 5 locks, your shadow-weaving alone is like having 3/4s of a Warlock added to Spriest's damage(over 1/2 of Warlock's damage). Long fights within warlock party, you can heal them for a minute while Vamp Embrace allows them to life tap allowing them to not go OOM if shit hits the fan and half the melee dies(happens a lot). Neither are meta in Classic, but a spriest holds their own if you have 4+ locks in the group. Meta is 1-2 locks for health and +20 warriors. In TBC, not only do you give 10% shadow damage to whole raid, but you give 5% spell damage and around 200-350MP5 to the party and triple-quintruple that in HP5.
I once met a true holy priest while questing in Zangarmarsh. I asked why weren't they casting Shadow Word: Pain or Mind Blast? They responded "I'm a holy priest, I never trained any shadow spells."
Thanks for the fantastic and informative content as usual @WillE FYI I'm looking for a skilled priest for 2s on Faerlina once TBC hits. I'll be going S1 glad, maybe 2, 3 depending on how fast it goes
I'd like to say to my fellow priest healers: do NOT underestimate the 2-piece bonus from tier 5. It's worth losing a little bit of overall stats from other pieces of gear to keep that two-piece bonus for a long time. A lot of time it's very efficient to be downranking greater heal all the way to rank *2* and if you get clever and follow rank 7 with a rank 2 to top off high HP tanks like Druids you can keep your mana up through very long fights.
Also! Primal Mooncloth! If you've any inclination toward tailoring at all I can't recommend the Primal Mooncloth set enough. It really is comparable to t4 and you can get all the way through Kara on the +healing from Mooncloth and dungeon prebis. As an additional bonus, you can pass on t4 tokens in favor of your guild's warriors and druids, which makes you a lot of friends.

Jeez, i really don't know what class I want to play. Every time i see those IIABN series, I think that all classes are so much fun and so interesting... I dont know if I even will play TBC, becouse it's too much to choose and to low time to play all :(
all priest "im so hyped for healing" me the one shadow priest "should i go healing i dont really want to but ik its better" tho tbh in classic spriest are the best pvp class we counter mostly everything in 1v1's but in bc mages and locks are both buffed in pvp
Maining healing priest throughout Classic I've been so eagerly awaiting this one from you, but never wanted to be the guy to pester you with "pwease do pwiest!" comments. So thank you for following through!
priests are my second favorite class in wow. in classic it's right behind paladins and in retail they are right behind demon hunters. priests absolutely got better in BC and then again in wrath.
Oh priests in classic WoW (vanilla classic or TBC) are so much more interesting... Even Mind Flay visual effect are much better than in retail. Just look at this, it's looks like Sith Lightning
It's amazing that this just occurred to me, but another intro idea that exists would be "I'm here to ask and answer one simple question: Is your class any better now?" :P
Think you'll find there will be a massive increase in resto druids, tree form takes poly out of the equation, innervate, shape shifting great tbc heals
I know it's subjective but...imo, the priest tier sets in TBC are THE BEST looking collection of tier gear for any class in any expansion. Blizz art team were really on top of their game here.
I dont wanna be a well accuuuly andy but specing deep holy for pvp is pretty good early on before you get resilliencr. The talent Blessed Resillience is pretty good and i usually run it til i get some gear.
Been counting the days till I have debuff slots on boss fights, classic was pretty brutal to raid as shadow after bwl when debuffs and other specs became more viable.
The improved divine spirit is more to buff the priest is self, because it stack with spiritual guidance you have 35% of your spirit as extra healing and with more spirit come greater mana regen.
I tried leveling a priest solo in Vanilla. AWFUL! However, in TBC, it wasn't awful. Especially with Draenei and Belf zones. Get a decent wand with specialization then go shadow. Wonderful. Still takes a bit of work. Disco actually became something worth using. But my favorite is still holy because zing all the time. I just leveled my hunter, shammy, and DK in retail. Next will be priest. As well, tier 5 is the best looking set. So awesome.
warlock and hunter are gonna be as over represented in raids as warriors are in classic. im not saying you shouldn't roll either of them but just know that there will be a billion locks/hunters looking for the same raid spots as you will be.
@@Cynsham Well you need as much warlock as you can have in a raid, so you will never struggle to find a group. You need a single mage/spriest per raid however
@@guillaumeanoufa1076 Not necessarily. While it's true that you're going to want to bring more warlocks/hunters than other dps in an "ideal" raid comp, just like Warrior in classic there will quite literally be tens of thousands of them on every single server trying to get into an even more limited amount of raid spots than in Classic.
I was hoping we'd get the version of Circle of Healing that isn't limited to the target's party from when they buffed it before the Sunwell patch. I remember CoH being just okay before then.
I was warlock going into classic, now a Hpriest preparing for TBC!! Such a hard choice, shammy, Rdruid, and I played both those already in wrath. Priest time, all raids, I will do all tbc raids, I can't wait fellas!
I still dont buy this idea that shadow priests only leveling ability was wand. I stacked +spirit gear and I was able to use all my abilities (Mind blast and mind flay) on every mob doing max damage and i still never had to drink
Imp DS is one of those talents that sounds great, but really isn't. It'll benefit a Balance Druid by about 42-ish Spell Power in T4 and Mages/Shadow Priests by about 20...and that's about it. Warlocks, Prot Warriors and Ele Shaman (who also use Spell Power) will have very low Spirit, meaning it kind of sucks for them. The overall benefit to the raid is practically nothing, especially since you sacrifice throughput to get it.
ALways liked the idea of shadowpriests, unfortunately its current iteration in retail is just not fun at all, the baseline DoTs are weak as hell, including mind flay and most of the damage comes from mind blasts and void bolts, it just doesn't really fit the fantasy when the damage is suppose to come predominantly from DoTs.
do you even play retail? mindblast hits like a wet nudle without talbadars and void bolt does pretty low damage without the conduit. Top damage on any single target encounter is devouring plague which is a dot..
@@mvpeteb1044 Get a legendary and do up to 20k mindblasts, the hell are you talking about. DoTs are laughable, aside from DP, have you even seen VT and SWP dmg? non-existent, the 2 iconic spells of a shadowpriest. then look at classic, tbc, wrath, where those spells actually do damage.
