Minor tip for wanding. It's tedious min maxing, but you can alternate cool downs between wand and melee auto attack to get a slight dps boost. Not sure what the % works out to, but you get a nice 2h staff smack in between each wand cool down. I make a macro for shoot and auto attack and stuck it on my mouse wheel to flick between them. Helps out a fair bit especially at lower levels. Glhf
Leveling as holy-disc isn't bad at all. No enemies have resistance to holy spells. And there is synergy with spirit tap and that 25% of spirit>spelldmg in the holy tree. So since you front load your spells into wand, they will have increased power. It is probably more efficient to go shadow, but the difference isn't much to write home about. Just make sure to go disc+spirit tap up to 40ish before you respec holy, early on it is much better imo.
Ill definitely be playing priest. I was tempted by tailor/enchanting because I finally could, but thinking about it, its likely gonna be much easier and cheaper now to just buy the wands others make off the AH for the lesser and greater, and after that can just get by without. But target dummy is engi exclusive and too good to pass up I fear.
I levelled mostly disc with some talents into shadow and holy. The survivability is amazing. Very slow levelling, but chances of dying are low unless you do some stupid mistake a pull too many mobs.
Dwarf Priest is only really best if we are talking group content. If you just plan to level solo and not care once you are 60 then Human Priest is better as they have better intellect/spirit base stats as well as Human Spirit racial which helps to decrease downtime. Fear Ward to buff yourself has minimal use cases
“Nowhere close to not being the best racial ability”? No. At the very least it’s debatable whether troll priest racials can touch dwarf priest racials; stoneform which cancels poisons, bleeds and diseases plus provides 10% more armor class is amazing, and nothing touches desperate prayer which heals for over half instantly for no mana, and then of course, fear ward at lvl 20, which dwarf priests get exclusively. Troll regen may be decent but the dwarf racial package of 3 ultra useful abilities are unbeatable. Btw, night elves not getting desperate prayer makes them lacking.
