I've got a Pike in the PNW. I paddle it on class IV or "easy" Vs if the water is lowish. I'm a bit on the heavy side (200lbs) for this boat and definitely get scared in harder rapids, or if I get behind someone who is paddling slow. This boat requires the paddler (at my weight) to be VERY aggressive, be in the front of the pack, and really pay attention to where their weight is, especially in steep, ledgey stuff. The boat doesn't boof very well, even for a half slice and with the seat all the way back. The bow rocker isn't great and the balance from side to side feels like you're sitting on a 2x4. However, this boat is very responsive, accelerates to top speed in two strokes, is faster than all of your friends boats, is very precise and is a blast to paddle on rivers that you know well. This isn't a Steeze or a Rewind so don't compare them. It's more of a slalom boat that you can take on real rivers and not worry that you're about to break it.
I got a Pike in June, 2022. I just made it into a Party Pike last week. Then I took it for a test drive down the Upper Yough yesterday. Oh yeah, the Party Pike is the way to go.
Hey sir, totally off subject, but I’m still pretty new to kayaking. Have basically nothing figured out. Other than I enjoy the heck out of it. But anyway, got the sweep roll fairly dialed in. Trying to learn the back deck roll now. Didn’t know if maybe you could post a quick video on that. I’ve watched a few other vids but the second half of the back deck roll is not clicking for me. Also idk if most of your audience would appreciate it or not but I wouldn’t mind seeing some instructional type videos from you. Rolling. Bracing. Surfing. Getting out of sticky holes. Catching micro eddy’s on the fly. Just general kayak knowledge. You can pick up a lot of stuff just watching you pick apart a river but some slower paced more instructional specific videos would be appreciated as well. I know there’s others out there, and maybe that’s not what you see for your channel. Just throwing it out there. Thanks.
Exactly what Shane said the ovens and molds are insanely expensive prijon was on the blow mold train early so they kinda have it to a science and my guess have figured out how to do it and make a profit
