I am a Sociology major at Clayton State University in Atlanta Georgia. As a baby boomer returning to school, I cannot imagine growing up with the media bombardment that people are subject to in 2014. About that "not physical force" thing? It doesn't work on all kids. Grounding mine did no good. They were either out the window or sneaking out the door. Mine were rough necks, the only thing that saved me from being an abused mother is that I was able to show them who the Alpha really was. The never got more than 3 swats for regular misbehavior but when they got to be teens it was a battle to see who ran the house. I was a single mother and they were always in trouble.

Thanks so much for this post. It has helped me to understand the agents of socialization . However, I think you are speaking too close to the microphone so it makes listening very difficult.
