If your thinking of coming to Prime Inc or want to get your CDL license. I honestly believe Prime is a solid company to start your trucking journey. Make sure when you fill out the online application @ www.primeinc.com put my driver code STREXA on page 2 of the application when it ask who referred you. Thanks for watching my video 🙂🤙💯
Do you haul fuel for Prime as a lease driver? You aren't doing lease to purchase right? You are doing well because you are hauling fuel in a tanker, , probably.
The good news is, as long as you're willing to work from Thanksgiving through the first few weeks of January, your average is probably going to go up. That holiday surcharge starts sometime around Thanksgiving and it is significant.
If you're in the Southwest part of the Country, less snow to deal with ! And if that's the busy/best time to be out OTR....i can go for that,. I can be out OTR for 3 to 6 weeks at a time !! to make bank 🏦 , you have to keep rolling ......
Awesome video! Appreciate the insight! I’ll be with prime August 22. You’ll actually make a little over 102k. Can’t take the monthly x 12. For instance If you make 1,000 per week that’s 4,000 per month. 4,000 x 12 is 48,000 But 1,000 x 52 weeks is 52,000.
Wutz up man grossing $95g’s ain’t bad for your 1st year.Keep up the good work & keep the videos coming.I’m taking my CDL class A in 2 weeks. As soon as I get my license I’m taking my Tanker/Hazmat test & I wanna start hauling smooth bore tankers.
im two, years away from having a decade (10yrs)in trucking. 1.) your dispatchers control your money , not you. 2.) 1 load accross 4 days , can make you the same ammount of money as 12-13 drop and hook in a week. 3.) get your own authority and haul your own load 4.) leasing is a nicer way or renting 6.)empties trailers are designated to lease drivers , you cant simply choose any as employee driver could . 7.) you work the same 7 days as a lease contractor and or employee driver 8.)get your license work dedicated loads for and double your money 9) Hi trucking with rex. your ability to earn , is dependant on the experiane your dispatacher has and account he has controll over, coors light mc kinely metal , it isnt definite that other recuters will give them the dispatcher you have. (1-8 )isnt for" trucking with rex". I'm proud Rex made it this far.
Thanks for all that great info, i tend to believe i have a good working relationship with my dispatcher. I'm trying to save money to buy my own truck. If I get my own authority what load board should i use? Or should i run under someone else's authority like landstar etc? Thanks again! Im a rookie trying to learn as much as possible
@@truckingwithrex landstar has many divisions, secondly look into natural gas trucks. You can write off the fuel as an expense. Lastly you won't need IFTA stickers. This type of truck is acceptable in all 50 states.
I did 88k gross as a company driver my first year w/ TMC. My 4th year I was on track to make 134k (including 12k bonus) as a company driver w/ XPO hauling doubles overnight. There is money to be made out here in driving, but it WILL come with sacrifices. I'm thinking about going back OTR w/ Prime/Lease/Tanker (I hauled bulk milk for my 2nd and 3rd years driving), as I just simply do not care for local driving or overnights w/o a sleeper.
@@paxmaac1 Net won't matter between you and me, because I put a large portion of my salary towards my 401k, IRA, and HSA accounts. My insurance premiums are likely different too, so all we can actually compare are gross incomes, as nets will differ vastly for the exact same job.
How long do you stay out OTR ? 3 to 6 weeks at a time, I figured to make money, and can you stay out longer ? Will be getting my CDL license this year and looking at different companies !
@@Mike-fo7jo 52 weeks. I lived out of my truck. No bills other than car pmt and cell phone. You will not make "great" money w/ TMC unless you stay out over the weekend (that just about applies to all OTR companies). Honestly, I would just get your CDL then apply to one of your local LTL carriers. We had a guy get his CDL paid for by XPO last year and he made 100k (gross) his first year as a CDL holder.
Howdy Rex, well done sir! In California, we have this law called AB5, I believe it ended leasing type deals like you have in Springfield, here in California. I would like to have an option like this. I need to move I guess!
I've been out of the game but Walmart was the Best Company to drive for back then. I see & hear as of 2023 they are paying $100k plus a year for Company Drivers. That ain't bad & less headaches. Krogers & Amazon pay well also.
Iam a company driver and get a annual minimum guarantee of 93600 and I don't pay of my company's truck and I have benefits don't forget to set 250 per thousand aside for taxes plus beware Prime is known to starve lease operators out of miles till you can't afford the payments anymore if they decide they don't like you anymore so beware
I work as a prime lease driver we don't get paid by the mile..we get 72% of the line haul...I drive 2,200 to 2700 miles give or take a week and make $2500-$3500 give or take no starving here.... Walk away lease
Wow I am impressed. You done quite well. ? what's your average M.I. per week when you don't take time off. I am trying to see how much a company driver makes pulling tanker.
Hey great content.. are you going to do a 2023 update? I’m actually going to Texas next week to join get my permit in order to join prime and your videos will be informative. Thanks
Congratulations question buy u leasing does that mean ur buying the truck from prime . What r the requirements for that. Thanks for info and Congratulations again. Be safe
There will be good and the bad playa should of mention the worst case scenario just pray your truck is in top notch shape and don't be home all the time. But actually when you do a whole year then make a video of how much you make.
Probably standard lease, they currently aren’t doing the lease purchase because shortage of trucks. He said he was on the tanker side which I believe pays 71% of linehaul.
Got 2 friends that got their cdl license through prime the same day as me. 1 chose reefer the other flatbed both are making good money 2-3k per week after expenses. I haven't seen their checks but that's what they said.
Whatever they give you, I've never turned a load down (as a lease driver you can turn loads down). No load board at prime. I just accept whatever they send to me and run it.
@@rifles75 paid $365 for inedible fittings and $435 for food grade. Lease drivers have to buy the fittings. After i deliver this load I'll be asking for my 1st food grade load
What was the process for getting the peterbilt? Was it just available when you were ready for your upgrade? Or did you order it? That part is confusing to me, most times I see people go to a big lot of a random hodgepodge of trucks of various years(primarily freightliners), my biggest concern is that process, if I’m paying for a truck and putting my name next to it, I want the truck I want period, not just what they have on a random lot. Can you explain to me what that process is like? Once I complete TNT and I’m ready for upgrade or ready to sign my lease, can I do that with whatever truck I want? Is it just a matter of how long I’m willing to wait? Thanks so much.
How it works after TNT training you’ll upgrade meaning you can go company or lease. If you choose lease prime will have all different kinds of truck available to choose from. For me in the tanker side that peterbilt was the ONLY truck available so it was take it or leave it. I took it, lease for 90 days and ordered my freightliner I’m currently in now. It took 7 month for them to build my truck how I wanted it. Hope this helps
@@truckingwithrex when you ordered your freightliner did you do it through prime/success leasing? And the difference between your original 90 day lease and the freightliner that you had built is that the freightliner was a lease to own where you put 14k down? How did the pay compare between the 2, do you regret going lease to own? Thanks for your help, I appreciate the information.
@@ChrisDavis333 I ordered my freightliner through success leasing (it’s a standard walk away lease) I only order the freightliner because my Peterbilt broke down 4-5 times in a 3 month period. I’m trying to save up now to do a lease purchase for my next truck hopefully in December.
What options, if any, are there for healthcare as a lease opp? Your totals didn't include paying taxes correct? Those numbers are gross after paying all of the weekly deductions/fees to prime for truck, insurance, etc. right? Great content btw.
Correct my numbers are after all prime expenses and before taxes I'll have to pay. I know Prime offers insurance, dental, vision and a retirement option for lease drivers. Don't know the pricing, haven't looked into yet. Trying to stack my $ to purchase my own truck
@@truckingwithrex Another question if you don't mind. What/how will you run your own truck? Load boards? Landstar? Curious as to the options other than chasing brokers around and haggling over every load.
@@JohnDoe-sw9zq Currently im a 1099 employee through prime, lease my truck with them also. I only run Prime loads They are sent through an app on my phone. I don't have to chase loads or use load boards etc...
Before taxes but after all other expenses. I put back 20 percent of my net and still I over estimate it every year lol. Lots of write offs. I bring home about 9k a month leasing after I set my taxes aside, but I only pay myself a grand a week and leave the rest in my business account, I can always pay myself a bonus later if I need more cash.
I’m sorry but prime inc has to be the worst place to lease a truck from and I only say that because the lease trucks are governed at 65 mph. I leased purchased a 2019 international lt and a 2023 wabash 53 foot dryvan from super ego and the trucks paid off and the trailer will be paid off march of next year my truck was governed at 68 but I took it to the dealer and got it governed at 100 mph. Now super ego holding is terrible also but it got the job done. Only reason I wish I went through Schneider is because they have new freightliners and when I had one as a company driver I only had to fill up like every 3 days and saved fuel.. Now going 65 isn’t bad because you want to have a low fuel cost but sometimes you just need that little “ boost “ to pass all these assholes out on the road. Truck looks sick though… One last thing is did prime inc trucks get governed higher or anything? Because last night and the night before out in Ohio and Pennsylvania I was passing 2 prime inc trucks and I slowed down to match their speed and they were legit going 70 mph on flat ground!
Am I missing something here? Don't get me wrong, 95K is awesome! But since you're leasing don't YOU pay for gas, maintenance, monthly lease payment and higher taxes? So minus all that, whats the actual amount you're getting??
95K is after all those expenses, truck payment, fuel, maintenance etc... I will have to pay 24% in taxes. Also my numbers have increased a lot with how freight has picked up. So I'm on pace to make 110K. Will do an official video after a full year and paying taxes. Thanks
@@truckingwithrex if you're paying anywhere near 24% in taxes, you have the world's shittiest tax accountant. Get yourself a proper trucking CPA, and make sure you pay your quarterlies so you don't have to pay the IRS one penny extra in late penalties. Abacus sucks.
What if u don’t finish your miles with a trainer wit prime and go to another company 1-2 months in? Do they make you pay something or try to take your cdl?
@@AM0908 no not every does taxes the same just because you have certain expenses doesn’t mean every one else has the same.. If someone has a truck that get 5mpg and the next person get 8.5 that’s a massive difference in fuel.. Also what if one person pays 1100 a week for a truck note and I only pay 1500 a month because I put a big down payment.. There’s a lot more to it.. Gross is what’s important and you can make your own calculations from there and figure out your own net..
I wish they can show us how much prime made off of them including a fact they get no benefits. Oh and half of that goes to the truck if you're going to properly take care of it. He pretty much made less than me without the benefits.
No dude you're numbers are off. You're lease truck is 1099 pay & your TNT time is W2. It means your TNT pay & mileage shouldn't be showing on your lease truck's settlements because that's an entirely separate tax return. 55k is 6 months not 7 & you're at 111k/yr.
