Fun fact. Mercedes wasn’t the best car in Singapore that year. It was only 3rd fastest behind the Red Bull and Ferrari. Everyone expects Max to be on pole that time. Lewis putting it on pole in qualifying by over a second is simply astonishing. You should watch that.

Looking closely at Checo's car it seems he got massive understeering. He committed to corner and front wheels were just sliding and not steering enough to avoid Ocon. That is technique I have used on track with pushy car, but fatal flaw is you can't do anything after turning as braking would just make car go straight to wall and accelerating would do the same. Then he crashed to Williams when car switched from understeering to oversteering as rear wheels lost grip making a fast jerk as turned front wheels got grip. That car was accident waiting to happen, but he should have known better not to push it over the limits. No guts no glory style.

One thing to note about the 2018 tyres is that they weren’t the same as what we gave now (soft medium hard). There was a MASSIVE range, from hyper soft, ultra soft, super soft, soft, medium, hard, super hard … yeah it was kind of insane. 😅

I think Singapore is a city state almost like Monaco. I really hope Merc build a decent car next year for Lewis to get an 8th title, i do think it would be a tough battle with George and Max as well, Ferrari will find i way to shoot themselves in the foot as always.
