Shared values, justice, respectful, willing to work hard, not rape and murder little girls...Except you're allowing people into Canada who don't have any of those values or beliefs!!!

I really don't know what the hell he is saying, he hasn't even seen the changes that have taken place since he stole office on his name, I really don't think he really understands anything he is saying, I will say as a drama teach, he has become a great actor.

The closest thing canada has to a national identity are the acadians and considering the fact the english control most of the nation by commiting unspeakable atrocities agienst our people it's unlikely the acadians will be seen as canadians national identity. So bassicly qubec is the only Canadian nation with anything resembling a national identity.
and freedom of worship. Christian Religious freedom has taken a beating under Trudeau, also freedom of assembly, freedom of thought and freedom of speech. The distance this man is from true democracy British style is frightening. The Magna Carta, the greatest gift of the Anglosphere to the world, and where it is in play, those places enjoy freedom and stability. The government is NOT above the judiciary. Worst move this man has made is to sue the speaker and to refuse to produce documents demanded by parliament. This man is a fake, a fraud, an a dictator at heart with waaaay too healthy an ego. And he hasn't a clue what it actually means to be a Canadian. Notice this speech is directed at "newcomers". He thinks he can play Captain Canada if he keeps ushering people in willy nilly. He despises old stock Canadians because they know he is a total fraud and the worst Prime Minister in the history of Canada.
From an exterior point of view: Canada (british part) is british america. It's the royal mounted police, maple syrup, great forests and cold mountains, british explorers, british wooden forts, lumberjacks and great cities, hockey... Beside of that, you have Quebec, that is french explorers, runners of the woods, french forts, maple syrup, hockey...
Of course culture is going to be different over a large landmass. The point is though if you take in a bunch of different people who don’t speak the same language, Who worship different god(s), who look different. If you set up a country to be this different what you will get is one group will push for power over all the other groups that do not wish to fight. The Quebecers knew this, anglos don’t and soon that said nice and open culture through simple Game Theory will be replaced by a completely different culture.
I understand and respect what he is trying to highlight. But, there are other countries which advertise for the same values like kindness and being kind to your neighbours and accept other ideas and beliefs and be welcoming and etc, These values do not differentiate Canada from those countries. The Canadian identity should be unique to Canadians. And yes, stereotypes and slogans and...always are part of a country's identity for the outsiders. I personally found his answer superficial and not compelling.
What if you don't hold those values, what if you keep letting people in that don't hold those values? I actually agree with his statements but you have to enforce these ideals.
The canadian identity is the Joual language: A mix of french and english. The canadian identity is in the food like donair, hawaiian pizza, pâté chinois, tourtière and so on. The canadian identity is causian with european culture and architechture. The canadian identity is in being anti american, not violently but politically and competitively. Do not trust justin trudeau, he doesnt even know what joual is. He is just winging it and trying to sound good. You'll find way more if you visit the oldest Canadien cities: Montréal and Québec. As well as all those smaller towns along the Saint-Laurent river, because this is where Canada started.
I see that Trudeau has no idea what this means Сanadian Identity! In reality, He is talking about universal human qualities and how to be socialized in another country. Kindness, openness, compassion, the search for justice, respect, the desire to be close to each other, the desire to work hard, to be a good neighbor.... So, many people with such kind of values live in the world but this does not mean that they are called Canadians. Achievements in culture, arts, sports, economy of Canada on the real values of Canada: Freedom of assembly Freedom of the press freedom of speech Freedom of thought Rule of Law Political Freedom in democratic society Democracy....
As an American, I think Americans could learn a lot from this. We could reassess our cultural identity and adapt it to who we are in the present moment, rather than stereotypes and myths about our historical identity.
Trudeau's hearts in the right place, but we should evolve away from a cultural mosaic, it's going to create major division in this country one day (its already starting to happen). I think of those brave Canadians that fought in World War Two as a expression of who we are. President Eisenhower would never say it publicly, but he did say in private "Canadian soldiers are the finest soldiers I've ever seen". We are compassionate, diverse, and open (thankfully), but we should also be street smart.
Hey Trudeau I am all about God save the Queen. A true leader, smart, prudent and poised. Never browbeats people with her opinion. Diplomacy and grace. You could take a few lessons. The Queen is a true lady, and all that is good in our Anglo tradition... which is most of the country in case you forgot. Yes, I think you did. Shame on you. It's called history. Crack a book and you'll know. Forget the hockey and poutine. I'm sure Butts thought it was a good line, but it's more tired acting like the rest of your speech. The shared value most Canadians hold in unison, is the disbelief that someone so corrupt as you can have the gall to preach to people.I understand my Canadian heritage VERY well, and it is not YOU.
