Felix Gall should have rode with BO'C in that last 750m, he may not have been able to help him draft wise, but could have offered psychological motivation (much like Martinez did for Bernal in the Giro a few yr ago). I know he was trying to protect his GC position at the same time, but in a Vuelta that 'could' be decided on seconds, it hay have made the difference that allowed him to form a bridge to allow O'Conner to latch onto that 29 sec gap group, (Vollering is a prime example of this!). RED at the end is better than if they end up with a 3rd and 5th. Also this was IDEAL territory for Roglic, but was probably the worst type of climb for BO'C, so today's Queen stage will be more telling.

Thanks Pat, Roglic can thank IPT for his win, they chased all day (some say as a punishment from their DS for not getting in the break) and that allowed Bora to sit back until near the end when the breakaway was just over a minute away. It was entirely opportunistic as Primoz himself said at the post race interview and I believe him given that tomorrow is the Queen Stage and Bora likely wanted today to be relatively easy so would have let a breakaway win as long as there was no GC threat in the breakaway.

Tough finish with the very steep incline not suiting O'Connor. He still has a lead of almost 4 minutes, so it wasn't a disaster for him. Tomorrow could be hard work for him because he used up a lot of energy today. I'm hoping he doesn't blow up.

Pogacar staying away from the Vuelta to give these guys a chance at leadership (per G's podcast)... is such a waste when you see how badly they're performing.
@ElSantoLuchador
@ElSantoLuchador 19 дней назад
The original reason Pogacar wasn't going to do the Vuelta was because of the Olympics. I believe what you say about the podcast, but it's still revisionist history, no matter who said it. At no point in the season was he pencilled in for the Vuelta, and it had nothing to do with teaching his team leadership.

@@savagepro9060 I believe you're right. The way he won La Vuelta last year was a fluke anyway. Visma is SOOO ruthless and cut throat!! They don't care how they treat their riders. They are heartless over at that team!! I really wish Sepp would leave that team. He's done SOOOO much for them and they don't give him the respect he deserves. He could possibly be the sole reason they have been so successful with the Grand Tours. He's such a selfless rider and they do NOT give him enough credit or respect. The way they treat their riders at Visma is the main reason I don't like that team. They are TOO ruthless!!! They don't care how they win or at what cost or at WHO'S cost!!! 🤘🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
