I'm in my 70's, so I haven't been out "Backpacking" or Wilderness Camping for nearly 14 years. BUT, I really enjoy your channel! As a teen, Camping out with Scouts or our Church Youth group, we didn't have anything like the dozens of choices available to campers today! I was particularly good at starting a fire with "bow and drill" friction techniques, so I nearly always had to demonstrate these skills for the benefit of the younger/newer members of the outfit! But, in reality? I loved doing it. And later, as an adult, I continued to be an adult mentor with the kids from Church. Going with other Parents on weekend Camp-outs so those kids that were stuck living in the City could get just a taste, for three days or so, of life in the Forrest. Thanks for posting all these fun and educational videos! I'm beginning to love "Stoves"! And have even begin a small collection of my own. CHEERS!

Greetings from Romania! I bought this stove a couple of days ago after watching this video which really convinced me. I watched several of your videos about different stoves and at a moment I couldn't decide between the Soto Amicus and this Primus Essential but after watching and rewatching them I finally decided. Thanks for everything you do, I love your style of presenting gears and I am truly a fan of yours.

Greeting from the Republic of the Philippine Islands. When a campfire is not an option, we have three primary "heaters," all customized to better fulfill our needs. We use Trangia-style spirit burners, folding Esbit-style pocket stoves, and a gasifying twig stove. We genuinely appreciate reviews on currently available products since we decided to add one or two butane canister stoves like the one you demonstrated to our inventory. Honest reviews significantly speed the process of making a wise choice and save us money in the long term by not purchasing junk that disappoints.

What's up, Doc?! Thanks for a budget option. I love my Windmaster, but I want a couple other burners to try out too and quietness is a concern. I like this one for being wind-resistant AND quiet. Take care down there and have a great week, Ernie.

I thought i would like the knob on the primus classic. But if you have a wide pot/skillet, you have to reach deeper under to adjust the flame. In that mind its nice to have the longer wire adjustor. On a table the knob version is great. Great vids, keep it up!

This, together with my Soto Windmaster are my two go to stoves. I do own several more (not like you, but inspired by you), but I always end up with one or the other.

I have 3 Coleman ,Classic Trail stoves, each 10,000 btu's . Still after a few years now, using the first bought, excellent stove. And yes, my compact little stove does boil a liter of water in less than 4 minutes, that is fact. Thank you.

The biggest problem with all these stoves, is I have too many stoves. Never can find an absolute favorite, but most work well enough:)

I got this stove. I caught the Essential trail kit from primus on an extreme sale for peanuts. An aluminium pot, a lid that is also a non stick frying pan and this stove. Mine came with a nylon bag. I have never used it because it is so bulky and with so weird edges sticking out. It really isn't practical to transpor at all. But now that I see that is a bit quieter, I am curious to try it. The gas burner roar really disturb the calm when in nature.

More like a car camping stove methinks...nicer to cook on than a Pocket Rocket I imagine.

Which type of gas cartridge did you use? I've got a no. 2037 Primus gas cartridge but not sure if it will work, the instructions seem pretty strict about it.

I'll stick with my excellent and dependable Soto Stoves! By the way... Stoves are a very boring subject. They are like wrenches, knives, and backpacks... Just a tool. Buy a Soto Stove, boil some water, make some coffee and move on!
