If I have to think about it, this is a 9.9 classical clown performance... which makes it easy to discard a 10.0 performance if they're dressed up as Puberty Pikachu or whatever other things I had never thought of.

I’m always blown away by Puddles. That voice is NO gimmick, that’s raw talent. Dio is difficult to sing, up there with the national anthem in technical craziness.
Puddles does have an amazing skill with his voice, his composition skills are equally impressive. I can’t hear War Pigs without thinking of his cover of it. Like hearing Hurt and not thinking about Cash’ s cover of it.

I love when Claypool fvcks up during shows. It doesn't happen often but when it does he'll let EVERYONE know about it. This is rad. I got to see Puddles sing "The Hollow" during the SESSANTA show in ATL. That show was fvcking EPIC! I wish PRIMUS would've played ATL on this tour. Such a bummer. -
I'm something of a Dio purist, I don't see most Dio covers as a tribute because they don't capture the energy. I thought Tenacious D was the only one that could cover Dio with the respect it deserves But Puddles fucking KILLED IT
@bradley1048 Kinda. Personally, I couldn't sing that song because i dont know the lyrics, but I could probably get close while humming the melody. Someone better than me (no shortage there) could probably nail it, or at least get too close to notice.
I agree, not Ronnie but Puddles was channeling him there at times. I’m not surprised, Puddles has an amazing, big voice. You could tell he was enjoying it too, kinda different presence for him. A little bizarre but very entertaining.
Every single aspect of this song is so dead on… the bass tone, the guitar, monster drums. And Puddles, like everyone else, leaves me with my jaw dropped. This performance was epic 🤘
I was there. When Puddles came out i said, "Oh shit! What sing will he do with PRIMUS?" When they started the chords for Holy Diver i lost my mind. If it was meant as a tribute to a local legend...AWESOME JOB!
I know everyone is going nuts over the vocals and rightfully so but how awesome does Primus sound playing this on a few hours of notice. The solos, the drums, that insane bass sound...Awesome to see Puddles and at one point Claudio from Coheed joining them onstage...they are having a good time it seems.
@@ashuggtube I'm not sure if it because Dio is from the central NY region but Les approached Puddle a few hours before the performance...this is pure talent to pull it off at this level with no real notice...that is why Les f'd it up and Puddles is referencing his phone. Most bands practice their own songs for weeks before hitting the road.
The fact that he can absolutely kill it without having totally committed the lyrics to memory just proves he's the real deal. And talent recognizes talent, that's why he's on the stage with Primus.
No, that just means he’s unprofessional. He has to go to falsetto when Dio was still using his normal voice, and doesn’t even attempt the higher parts at the end.
Puddles Pity Party. that man is an absolute fantastic singer. and he's so versatile. he can also hold his own in a rock setting. Puddles Pity Party gave a stellar performance.
Stumbled upon this... and so glad I did! My first concert was July 30, 1976 was Blackmore's Rainbow with Dio as lead vocalist. And have long digged Puddles! He has an amazing voice... and it works so well on this!!
I deployed with a guy who played "Holy Diver" on repeat on the shop boombox for like three months straight. I never thought I'd actually enjoy listening to this song ever again. You killed it, Puddles!
I had a guy in the shop that played ICP non-stop! I finally convinced him to jam some Rage Against the Machine ever now and then hahaha! Glad ya made it back safe Brother!
Saw Puddles' solo act like 10 years ago, right after he went viral the first time, largely because of his "Royals" cover. Dude can really put on a show, all by himself.
it's the weirdest interactive karaoke show EVER, but he really is an amazing singer. he comes with props, visual aides, pantomime, coffee jokes, puns, and a REALLY STRANGE obsession with Kevin Costner.
I've wanted to see Primus since the early nineties, but never got the chance until this show. It was awesome; loved every second, but the highlight of the night was watching a 6’8” Pagliacci sing Holy Diver with Primus as his backing band and nail every note.

I've been following Puddles for years, it's great to see him doing this well. I didn't know he was this good at Dio, this is amazing. I saw Dio and Sabbath in about 1998. Puddles is nailing it here.
Getting to watch clips like this on YT is why I never complain about people bringing cell phones to shows. Thanks for recording and sharing this moment

One of the most important aspects of doing a vocal (or any instrument) cover is getting the timing and phrasing to match the original recording. Few can do it well, usually off on their own "interpretation". I'm really impressed at how tightly he nails that down here. Just spot on.
Having seen dio multiple times with rainbow with sabbath and solo I can tell you with absolute certainty he sounds nothing like him not to say he isn't good

Two days in my life I know exactly where I was & what I was doing. 911 I was sitting in a dentist chair & there were tvs in the rooms. We watched it live. The other, the day Ronnie died. I was at one of my best friend's wedding reception. It was a bummer. RIP dude. ❤🙏
Saw Puddles at the local theater with my daughter a couple years back, it was a VERY entertaining show with a wide variety of music. Definitely worth the admission price!
Fantastic performance! Any messing up a little on a cover just adds to the live experience, reminds you they are human too. Roll with it and have a great time Puddles killed it, amazing talent
