after the movie scores in Purple Rain and UTCM, it always felt to me like he'd be the top composers altho its not typical for music composers to be famous. but then he's always been an incredible instrumentalist, thats what he initially described himself at the early days of him making music.
You’re right! The casual Prince listeners don’t know of MadHouse 8, or the N.E.W.S. cd, just to mention some of Prince’s instrumentals! Just like they don’t know who Camille is either! 💜💜💜🕊️🕊️
in just under 5 minutes Prince shows us very aspect of his genius. One of his best tracks and didn't make the Parade album. RIP Prince, still hugely missed
I would love an album that features all of their work together with special attention to pieces that didn’t make the cut. I wish they had done more instrumental work together.
LOVE THIS SONG! I really hope there will be a Parade Deluxe collection that contains all the great full length B-sides and vault songs from the Under the Cherry Moon period.
A 17 year old English lad living in Virginia in 1986 dreaming of the south of France and a world full of promise. I’m 54 now….this takes me right back.
I was eighteen when this movie came out and my dad owned a bar at the time and he had a jukebox with lots of rock and r&b on the playlists and one artist that stood out on this jukebox was Prince. A lot of the music from the soundtrack made it onto the jukebox and also the b sides as well. After watching the movie in the theater, the next day I went to go help clean up at the bar and I was thinking of one particular instrumental Prince played in the movie. I thought it was something I could listen to forever. I didn't know the name of the instrumental at the time. I went over to the jukebox to play some music as my brother and I cleaned up and low and behold the b side of "Mountains" played and there it was.......Alexa De Paris. I was so happy I found the song I was looking since I heard it in the movie the night before. I must've played that song well over 50 times. I was stationed in Europe in the Army right after this and every time I would visit Paris or any other Parisian city in France, this instrumental would play in my head and remind me of Under The Cherry Moon.
♊️💜 O(+> 4ever Maestro - Webster's definition of a Maestro is an eminent composer, conductor, or teacher of music and Prince was all of those things and more. ☮️🕊💜🎶
@@carlbrunswick8762 CORRECT! To me I feel because he had Wendy and Lisa with him they made his music better then it was!! Those girls added the ingredients needed in his music!!Prince was LUCKY to have met them!!
The B side to Mountains....with prince crazy guitar work, the great claire Fischer composing and conducting a full orchestra and cant forget shelia e on the drums....masterpiece
Michael may have had the sales but PRINCE had the power to make things seem simple with his genius, integrity, soul, electricity, I really am missing this man, I am having trouble coming to terms with the fact that he is not writing any more symphonies of life for us, thank you Prince for showing us how to live life through beautiful vibration..........
I literally go to any random Prince video and always find this kind of comments, and it sincerely makes me sick. Can we please STOP comparing MJ and P? Yes, they were similar in many aspects, but eachone was unique and a master on their area, Prince's being mostly musical work and MJ's being performance. Both are great artists and I don't really understand why do we gotta keep arguing 'bout this. Music is everything but a battlefield.
The loss of Prince is DEVASTATING. There was a time when his music was my largest motivation to live. And my Alexa De Paris LP was my favorite. Been trying for YEARS to find it on a downloadable source. You can't even buy this single-- ANYWHERE. I thank you SO, SO much for sharing! And I think Prince would be totally OK with you sharing this one. You've made my day. Bless You Xo
LOL Forgot about that. Definitely was a 12" record-- same size as most 33's. Either way, no way to play it without a record player. Wouldn't want to do that even if I could find one. LOL
I wish there was a place where all the Real Prince fans can go party and Jam. Notice I said the real Prince fans, not the people who just know the hits. Infact the people whom I speak of are the people on this thread. Only real fans know of Alexa De Paris
I loved that he would throw little gems like this at us, on his albums, like it was nothing and these are the songs that all true Prince fans know! When you start calling out songs around people that are say average Prince fans they always say 1999 or Purple Rain, but then you come across a true fan and he/she will mention a song like this and that's when you know they are a deeply devoted lifelong Prince fan!
I have been sobbing, and then found this song. Prince wrote the soundtrack to my life at a very troubled time and helped me through it. This made me smile because my name is Alexa - it sounds familiar but I don't recall the name. Thank you sir, I will treasure this always. Rest in peace, sweet Prince. I wasn't lucky enough to meet you in this world - maybe I'll see you on the other side. I Wish You Heaven
This song this sound shows a side that Prince Fans didn't know about, the Guy was a genius with music! Wasn't afraid to play whatever no matter who liked it!
I remember hearing this when it came out in 1986. I was 16, haha 😄 I would go to "TOWER" records pretty much every day back then. ( It was my internet for music in the 80s and 90s.) I managed to buy close to 110 prince albums and about 150 copies of "controversy" and "uptown" fanzines. Good times. Miss you Prince.
What an astounding tune. What other major artist would create something so musically rich and not even put it on the album he had out at the time. He hid it on a b side. Proud to say I bought this when it came out. 12" vinyl. The a side mountains was ok. But this has stuck with me ever since.
Of all the songs in Prince's cannon and vault, this is my absolute favourite. I owned a copy and lost it some where in the 90's. From the bottom of my broken heart, thank you for uploading....
I have a happy blissful out of body experience when listening to Prince's music. It's like Heaven is supposed to sound like his music. It almost makes me feel free from this body my soul is trapped in, and this evil system we live in.
Thank you Patrick, He was indeed otherworldly and has apparently found his Way Back Home to Space. Having nothing but tears of joy for all that our Prince shared with us. This one makes them flow. Wishing Blessings, Strength, and Heaven _ to all who Adored him, peace,o
U see brian all the other princes of the world are just adored for being a prince or a king but they bring us nothing we dont learn anything from them they dont come with talent. But this prince hear man has not only shared his gift with us that GOD has blessed him with, but also taught almost every musician how to really love music and taught every human how to love! This prince that GOD made really helped us man not just exsited! Michel had talent but NOT ANYTHING like this man!!Love mike just the same but its a reason why he cried like a baby when he sat in the theaters to view purple rain when it first came out!
Love love love you PRINCE!!! You are the answer to all life's questions. Thank you for sharing your creative, spiritual musical and lyrical genius with us There will never be another who encompasses even a small percentage of what you are RIP
WOW. I thought I had everything by Prince but I don't have this... Im actually traveling to Paris tomorrow and been playing under the Cherry Moon album songs drinking champagne getting in flow... Cheers to the Purple Life
This was a beautiful song especially seeing him dance with Kristin Scott Thomas on the ocean view , even though black and white it’s a beautiful song and set , god bless you Prince ! Missed so much
I played this the WHOLE summer as a teen --- watching the Sun set --- living in that moment everyday... not many musicians have the spark -- none but PRINCE --- tragedy he is gone -- but I know he's playing up above -- can't wait to see that concert - for all time !
My absolute fav Prince instrumental song. 14 years old when it was out as a B side and this stuck with me since. Sheila E. was great the drums on this song.
If I ever were to get married to my Stasia, or Kalina over in Bulgaria 🇧🇬 I would pay good money to the guitarist who can play this riff on their axe. Yes, it is nothing short of criminal that this song wasn't on the Parade soundtrack. Makes absolutely no sense. RIP RPN 🙏 ♥
I love love love this beautiful Instrumental from the beautiful soul, legend, my favorite guy Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson. #GOAT #LEGEND RESTINPURPLE 💜💜💜💜💜🎹🎸👣 #WEWILLSEEYOUINTHENEXTLIFETIME PRINCE AND JOHN BLACKWELL, JR.
Thank you for adding this B-side cut, my father had it over thirty years ago and his record collection has since been lost. This is my favorite B-side cut from Prince that only a few people talked about. Again thank you so much for posting it.
Thanks for this upload!! I LOVE this B-side. It shows the direction Prince could have taken the Revolution after the Parade album, had he held the band together. They were just hitting their peak. And as gutted as I was when they broke up, I was absolutely devastated on April 21st. But the legacy that is his music will stay with me until I see the Dawn.
Beautiful instrumental from Prince Rogers Nelson, the guitar is speaking on it's own. I bought this LP on amazon a couple of years back and will listen 2 it on a loop...thanks Prince.
The Dream of Dreams this song ... when I 1st heard it .. it made me Fly through all the galaxies milky ways & back again! Prince from another planet.. Incomparable 🔥🚀
thank you! we used to use this at my drum lessons for triplets. I've been agonising for days what my favourite Prince record is, and you put it up just in time. Thank you Patrick.
Since February 2017 you can stream Prince's Warner Brothers/Paisley Park catalog, and you could always buy the MP3s. But for some stupid pointless reason you can't stream or buy all his superlative B-sides including this one. You can stream or buy the 20 killer B-sides on Prince's "The Hits/The B-Sides" compilation (if you don't own a physical copy of that just for the liner notes, you are not a real fan), but as this track and "♥ or $" shows, that's not enough. Get it together, Warner Brothers/Paisley Park!!
