On this day in 2000, Prince William was joined by his father, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales for a press conference on his younger prince's plans for his gap year. Speaking in the gardens of Charles's Gloucestershire home of Highgrove, William described receiving his A-Level results while up a mountain in Belize, his plans to go to Chile on his gap year, and how he went about raising the funds for his travels. he also spoke about how upset he and his brother Prince Harry were about the publication of a book about his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Of course he was and is well spoken. He was and is extremely well educated. That interview was the year before university, so at that age, a well educated individual is, indeed, well spoken. In addition, his upbringing was the best, where education, respect, and good manners were on top of the list. Prince William has always been extremely well mannered and respectful.

@ He was only 17 or 18 here. It doesn’t matter how much education one has, either you have the ability to vocalize eloquence or you don’t. His brother who received the same education by his 18th birthday was busy dressing up in a nazi costume and could barely string two words together.🙄

Put that next to the picture of William as a baby with Diana & Charles trying to keep him on the blanket with a hoard of photographers there in line. Or better yet when he was a toddler also with his parents, but right in front of the photographer explaining what a camera does. It was one of the sweetest pics.

@@MaliKamicak I understand what you are saying, but there was a demand & expectation for Charles & Diana's to show them. It was not every day but she was the 1st royal to travel with children so that was different. It seemed like it was initially 1st day of their school, royal events & probably inc. interest after Diana passed. Now there is too much coverage of PH & MM. It's constant, too much complaining when they live in luxury & we in the states don't see them doing anything productive.

This shows how thoughtful the training and education of William was, as it must be for a future King. Beyond an excellent education it included hands-on working with those less fortunate and to improve living conditions. His hands-on helping continued with his rescue pilot work after college. No wonder he connects so well with everyday people as he goes about his public duties.

@ someone from the media went down during his stay and interviewed him and filmed what he was doing any environmental work was only a small part of it besides DJ, cleaning and cooking duties, he taught English in schools besides other things and they were building wooden walkways, great for the environment but he talked about the other things he did more

I enjoyed the interview with Prince William. He and his Dad looking so relaxed and having a bit of a laugh together, probably at all the cameras clicking, before the interview started. I had a few giggles at the cameras going off ❤😂 Even back then 22 or so years ago he was choosing to do things that would be of benefit to others. What a great young man ge was then and still is. He has a wonderful heart for service for others. ❤

You can tell that Prince William has grown into an adult who understands that our parents were "growing up" too, when they were raising us. That we settle into the idea that they have done their best, and now we must do *our* parenting best, and all move forward as family, and as *ADULTS.* Unlike some folk who think they must have an apology for how "horrible" our lives were as children. The eye-roll was for the Sussexes (Harry in particular) who seem to be dead set on having an apology from any and everyone they think has "wronged" them, including his own father.(Rather than be a mature human being, like William, who has realized their parents were human also, and made mistakes.) I have always thought Prince William to be a carbon copy of his late mother, however I see that he also has some of his father’s features as well. I don’t care what Harry says about KC3 not being a loving father, anyone can see the love he has for his boy’s. You absolutely cannot fake the way he looks lovingly at William and with such pride. The same look is there whenever he looks at his boys.

This is about the time my brother hung out at the same party as Will’s: the Polo Ball during the Queen’s Cup. I remember telling my brother “Do you know the amount of girls who would have changed places with you?” My brother was care less! Lol😂
