Few musical artists have enough cachet in the fashion world to be able to take over London Fashion Week and use it as a backdrop for one of their music videos. But Prince did just that in 2007 when he shot the video for “Chelsea Rodgers,” a track from his 2007 album Planet Earth that he wrote about a mysterious former model turned “21st century hippie.”
The lyrics for the song are a sharp contrast to the high-fashion glitz and glamour of London Fashion Week, with Prince singing about leaving the modeling world behind in pursuit of spirituality. The verses are a reflection of Prince’s ongoing relationship with the Jehovah’s Witness faith and his ever-evolving understanding of his own spirituality and beliefs, with references to vegetarianism and forgoing the celebration of anniversaries and birthdays. “The day that we stop counting, we live as long as a tree,” he sings. “Go ahead Chelsea, teach me!”

The man had such presence. That casual stylish and effortless strut up the catwalk to get his guitar to play was everything. Let’s face it he was genius in everything he did. It’s never ever old to hear his music and watch his videos and concerts or hear the stories from other band members.

And with the visuals of the models and fashion world, then Prince stepping out in that damn outfit, there will NEVER be another brother with this kind of cool and creativity in our lifetime... I've never heard this song until now. I'm still amazed how one artist had so many different styles of music. I see now why Warner Bros. had to cut Prince a special deal to just let him be himself. So, for my defense your honor : I can do the difference, between Disco, Funk, Funky Music, Boogie, Italo Disco, European Disco, US Disco, Jazz Funk and P.Funk. For example Parliament and Funkadelic even composed by the same members, didn't do the same music. One is P Funk, other did Rock Fusion Funk. Prince did a lot of funk you can even call it modern funk. But that tune, this one we post on, is Disco. "Tom Tom Club - Genius of Love" is more funk compare to that song.

When he says this is for "Jersey right here" I was excited as hell cuz in my mind this was for us house heads in NJ. That bass line alone was enough for me and when I have played this in the past everyone instantly likes it and wonder why it wasn't mainstream. I know one thing though.....that entire look with the gun mic, that pimp walk and stomping them stairs was fucking fabulous as a visual....thank you Mr. Nelson.❤️

I agree, this song should have gone top 10 easy. I believe it was ingnored because of the positive message. If the estate, WB or UNI decided to repacked and re-release it, I think this song might get another shot or if it gets licensed out to a film project. It's a dam shame the masses can't appreciate and accept a song like this at it's first offering.

A DJ busted it out during a popping battle at a dance festival in Taiwan just before Covid-19 ruined everything, it's super funky. I believe this man will grow in popularity as time goes by - knowing how to play 20+ instruments and learning all on his own through hardship-- entertainment and stamina through the roof!!! I saw him before purple rain, and never saw any other concert like it- I saw David Bowie, Rolling Stones, etc... I loved them all- but Prince won the entertainment category by miles.
