I witnessed everything evolve in Minneapolis. We would play his piano together in his room down at his mom's. Love reading all the beautiful comments about my cousin Prince. Thank you-
My mom & dad were 16 year old in highschool when this song came out. I still have the pictures of my dad with makeup on & his hair was like Prince. I'm so glad Prince touched so many lives, even from the early years in his career.
When they announced that he died, my whole world seemed to stop. He came on the scene during my high school years. I love him from the moment I began listening to his music. This song bring back so many memories. The music is timeless. What a pleasure it would have been to meet this artist face to face. Rest in peace, cause you have earned it!! 😭😭😭 What a SEXY man. Performances were on another level. There'll never be another artist of his caliber to come.
Born in 88. I only knew him for the most beautiful girl in the world, I loved that song growing up as it was always on the radio, but then I saw purple rain and I was instantly a fan, but didn't go too much into his catalogue just anything after the new power generation. It wasn't until he passed a part of my love for music died with him tbh. All our greats are gone.
Yes. You said it all. There will never ever be another ever like him. Miss him soooooo much. I remember too, when he passed, they showed how the world look from space, and it was all lite up in purple. Just amazing. He would have loved that so much. He never knew just how much he was truly loved by everyone.
@@Detroitblueas an adult now it wouldn't strike me. The draw was something otherworldly. And what my parents definitely would not approve. It started a few years before that. And really some of the best music of my life.
@@shethingsd I was definitely under the spell that was in the music and only instruments that promoted lust. I think that is what you trying to say. As a youth that is what fixated us, love and lust and relationships. As an older adult I have been delivered from many of the trappings of my youth. But if going back mean going back to that time and being that age again I would take it without a 2nd thought .
@@Detroitblue it wasn't really a lust thing for me but rather a rebellion. I was a good Catholic girl until I met my now ex husband at 24. Even my mom worried about me being unusual romantically. In the beginning, especially the early songs and videos, I just knew the priest, nuns, and all the people I despised would hate it. Later, around Purple Rain time, I was old enough to be wowed by his amazing talent. The ability to play so many instruments. I was recently surprised to read/learn, Prince recorded When Doves Cry alone. And it's one of the very few #1 hits without a bass line. Someone told him, "You're Prince. You can take the bass out." Part of the reason I fell in love with my ex husband was he was a self taught master of many instruments and a writer of songs. He was probably more of an ass and abusive, but he was super talented.
I was fortunate enough to be at this concert. My sister and I had front row seats. From this night on we are hard core fans, as well as my 5 girls. He lives on in his music.❤❤
The instrumental beat to this music sounds so smooth with the guitar bass, this is one of my favorite top 5 songs to Prince ever along with purple rain.
That's maybe it's one of the sexiest song he made. My personal favourite... It's from there that he created the Prince type of balade which i call Spiritual Orgasmic song. The next one will be over the year,: The Beautiful Ones , Slow Love , Adore, When 2 R In Love, Scandalous, I Love U In Me, Insatiable.... Only him Can mix high spiritual sensuality with Orgasmic metaphoric sexuality. His insane and out of this World falsetto was and Still is the truth...
People don't understand how difficult it is for Prince to scream on records and it not sound bad or out of pitch a distinctive vocal range for sure. His lower and upper registry on full display.
This was the times when you had real musicians playing real instruments and a real singer singing their song .No need for a backup recording. Real artists got this down pack..
Also a time when I Remember Slow Dancing to this Song in the Club, The DJ Would play it Twice, Because Everyone would Recommend that Do Me Baby Be The Last Night. Great Times
I was trying to say that Do Me Baby was Highly Recommended The last Song of the Night. But when I went to the Concert in New Orleans, Prince was Unreal, even to this Day Absolutely The Greatest Performance Ever. And When Sang Do Me Baby, even I Had to Admit Prince was Sexy as Hell. That Concert will Always be With me and my cousin Which was his First Concert Ever, Great Times, Great Memories
I was there 💜. I sneak out from Richmond Virginia to washington DC with friends. Parents worked at night. To this day they never knew I went. I was 17 years old 🗝️
This performance is just one of a kind he just brought the audience to his bedroom down in the basement, freaky, intimate, and erotic, just a genius performa, the piano sounds like a silk sheet, the base is just funky and on the spot his voice is just divine.
@@darlenecurrin6953 music is a gift from The Most High. So of course those he blesses with such immense talent should be in no rush to silence their gift. & what if Jesus didn’t want some of these people to give their lives to him. & what did people do before Jesus??? Is the world less evil because 2.3 Billion people who can’t love their neighbors, their wife/husband or people who look &/or worship different than themselves. All because they claim to love & pray to a man whom they’ve never seen, never heard his voice & thinks his supposed likeness to Kid Rock, Kurt Cobain & Machine Gun Kelly makes any sense as I also can see how Yeshua, Kid, Kurt & Kelly could easily be mistaken for Ancient Egyptian Ancient Sudanese, & Ancient Ethiopian. All who’s DNA markers descend from Sub-Suharan y, where humanity was birthed. ALL humanity, traces back to ALKEBULAN/Africa. But for thousands of years their were only ALKEBULANIAN people in the world & only on 1 Continent. Where humanity actually sprang from, Alkebulan. The world is actually populated because some of the Africans had m TV out
Yes too long but his music and video of his performances puts you in the place for a few moments like he is right here singing to us, besides those moments and songs he left for us yes there is a huge void in music, and much modern music leaves you wanting, disappointed, wishing artists like Prince were still here, I and many others will keep his music alive and present in our lives, there will never be another like him 😭💜😭💜
You would have dug it, it was a major east coast stop before going into Manhattan, any… mostly rock groups from the 70’s who were large made a stop there, you name it, they played there, by the time Prince played there they were in my opinion on there way down, I’m sure just a few years after that they shut down.
Yes I remember when Parliament funkadelic's perform at the Capitol Theater Led Zeppelin Rolling Stones Chaka Khan and Rufus just to name a few the Capitol Theater used to have the shows before they went to New York City
@@sterlingrozier6380 So my man that means we're probably closer in age, and remember when real musicians, playing real music got on the stage, I saw some good acts there, but I'm truly sorry I missed Led Zeppelin, I think I might have been in my way teens then. But I remember looking in the Star Ledger and seeing who was coming to the capot
@@sterlingrozier6380 oppps sorry, I got excited...seeing not only Zeppelin, the who, black sabbath, the stones all came to the Capitol, it was a great time for the neighborhood in passaic n.j.
He was, you know what kills me? that Brown Mark had really been his bass player early on, and was great, but what gets me is that Andre Cymone who was his original bass player left after the “Dirty Mind” album. After all they probably gone through as teenagers trying to break into the business, he just leaves, I often wonder what it would have been if he would have stayed, him and Prince had such good chemistry on stage…oh well we’ll never know.
I graduated from high school in this year and it was phenomenal seeing him in concert on my birthday December 31st 1982. Thank you Prince. Love you for life.
Idk if he felt jealous of Prince but prilly felt he had a tufer road to success compared to James. Prince was the opening act for James at 1 point then he became more popular by the tours end.
@@michaelwashington4408 ... What you say is true... I think the jealousy part crept up because Rick James could see that Prince was stealing his thunder so to speak. The headliner never wants to be upstaged by the opening acts..
@@Killerbrick It's Rick freaking James we are talking about lol the guy had music flowing thru his viens and was great in his own right ..should he in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fsme as well. But it's Prince who rose to top like he should. One the most influential artists of the Last 50 years.
💜1982...I was 15 and bought his first vinyl played over and over and fell in love-like. The eyes on the cover stared back 👀...I think he even winked a few times after staring at photo so long. 😉 Wink Miss u my Gemini ♊ Genious 💜
Shout out to the prince estate for allowing us to be able to see this on RU-vid .PS Prince put the eighties on notice that he was not a Flash in the Pan him & Michael was gonna rule the decade
I mailed Prince a can of popcorn at Christmas 1989 n He mailed me a single I wish You Heaven in 1990. Guess what,, Prince is also prophetic, I was down and out one night playing that song and got Born Again. My life changed for the best even to now. See you in heaven Prince. Sorry I never mailed him a thank you note was busy reading the Bible.
I don’t care how old this video is, whether it’s black and white, or not the best film of his performance of this song especially, to me this is the realest emotionally expressive awesome performance of this song I’ve seen him do
I was 12 years old living 5 minutes from Capital Theater on this day and wasn’t aware of the musical genius about to take over my teenage and adult years. Miss you Prince 👑
Prince is a musical genius... What I love the most is how he appreciated the guitar player. It was very humble. That was his passion for music we witnessed.
This is the purest evidence of a great talent. Only 3 chords the whole song, the bass playes almost the same the whole time, so does the piano, and you got a song which does not boring you, not for a single moment. Pure genius. We lost a lot...
Back in the day when this song was popular, you weren't able to just turn the radio on and randomly hear it, unless it was between midnight to 3am on a Saturday night. That's the only time they played R&B, I was living in Portland, Or. You'd have your cassett player ready to go. It didn't matter if it recorded with flaws. There was so much appreciation cause it took effort and the sacrifice to get that song. And it just made the music sound so much sweeter and intimate. It was like having a private rendezvous with PRINCE 💜💜💜💜
I miss this version of The Revolution. Also, I never thought that there would be a time when so wouldn’t be able to see Prince in concert. In Detroit we had a special relationship with him. He would get on the radio and talk to us, he did shows for an entire week, he was just a special dude. My whole rap in high school was Prince based and it got me a lot of girls. Between him and Morris they taught me how to be cool. I really hate that he’s not around for me anymore but I appreciate the time that he was my friend even though he never knew it.
Absolutely no comparison. Was he a control freak? Did he play everything on his albums? Did he give credit on stage performance? My regret is I never saw a live performance.
Everything about Michael was choreography. He definitely had a lot of talent but he wasn't allowed to be creative. He only sang, maybe wrote lyrics. And he quite probably did bad things to children. If I listen to him, I have to go way before the allegations. I was introduced to Prince on Saturday Special and nobody was controlling him.

I saw him perform this concert in Dallas,TX even back then he was one hell of a performer. He evolved so much over the years his playing, his showmanship, and his style. He's my favorite artist I loved him and I truly miss him. This is one of his best ballads and he's singing about sex Adore is my favorite Prince ballads and he's singing about love.
