Gary, I used to work with Marilyn Thompson when I interned with Judge Ray Reynolds Graves back in Law School in 1996. She used to talk about you all the time. The Brothers is one of my favorite movies. Hopefully you're doing good during this time. I also met your brother Geno when he was interested in joining my Lodge. Keep up the good work Bro. 👍
GARY… any chance you can change your thumbnail for this video? Hardly flattering and worthy of someone who gave so much to so many and strived for perfection! 😬
Turn up as you need to get back on this show of yours its the best I'm from Phoenix Arizona that's my mom's side my dad's in casa grande side but man you make us all laugh as a family please try to get back I love Prince you're a good man I hope you can read this get back to your to me
The more I listen and watch Prince I realise he is.... in my opinion one of the greats when it comes to playing the guitar!!! He's up there with the best!!
As are tens of thousands of talented musicians. What makes Price stand out is his showmanship -- part James Brown, part Michael Jackson, part Jimi Hendrix.
@@NelsonMontana1234 Tens of thousands? Yeah, but tens of thousands can't play like this. He was on a totally different level. As Dave Grohl said when asked how it felt to be the greatest drummer, "I don't know, ask Prince."
One of the most UNDER RATED ax players of all time Prince could and did make a whole album all by his self mixed played all the instruments this man was FUCKING AWESOME!!!! MISS YOU ROYAL BADNESS!!!! RIH!!
There are stories of his blackballing female artists in the industry as well. Keeping them in their place as backup artists - even tho they had bigger talent than the artists themselves. F#'d up industry.
I could pick 10 "better" guitar players from mid air. I get that his fans love him but in a guitar sense, he is good, not great. The way some people talk, he was better than Hendrix. Weird.
@@theknowlodge8294totally agree that Hendrix wasn't technically great, although he was far more innovative than other players, Prince included. But if technique is your yardstick, Guthrie Govan, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie et al totally destroy Prince. They can do things he could only have dreamed of. That is not to disparage him as a songwriter and performer; I would rather listen to a Prince tune than any self indulgent guitar instrumental. It's just that being a Prince fan, and imagining him the best guitar player ever seem to go hand in hand, and it simply isn't true. What we can say was that he was the best guitar player for the music he wrote.
Prince was incredibly human, and that was so much of his strength when it came to songwriting. You don't write "Manic Monday", "Nothing Compares 2 U", or "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" without _feeling_ as hard as you possibly can.
I have watched many people try to analyse how good Prince truely was as a guitarist.. I find that insulting when they compare him to guitar greats.. Yes , he could match it with the very best there has been . BUT... Prince could play bass, keyboard, drums etc etc on that level ...Not to mention vocalist, songwriter, producer etc If Prince only played the guitar, we wouldn’t been wondering who was the greatest guitarist of all time, we would have just been looking at him...Amen
I am a bit of a fan ( but i dont like his vocals so much) however, it took me years to learn the diatonic ten hole harmonica. He learnt instruments in a month He is/was the mozart of his generation
Yes. And he could dance too. Lets not forget stage presence. Just go to 3:45 . Prince drops his guitar pick, and plays perfect notes as he retrieves it.
The reason why idiot humanity cannot perceive Prince as one of the greatest guitarists of all time is because Prince transcended being just a "guitarist" - he transcended being a singular "anything" (singer, songwriter, producer, drummer, pianist, etc.), so people's brains just could not cope with trying to classify him. He was the greatest musician ever born into the homo sapiens species.
@@jimisi7424 He hired a harp player to record on one of his songs. He wasn't satisfied with what she played so he hired a harp and played it himself on the same day. No lessons.
Oh my god, I wasn’t prepared for this. Prince ABSOLUTELY earned his place as a top tier guitarist RIGHT ALONG SIDE THE FEW THAT ARE CONSIDERED THE GREATEST. Then, throw in all his other musical abilities, creating and songwriting, singing and dancing, then his business savvy intellect, movie writing skills and him being a chick magnet....................GOD hand crafted Prince with extra care and attention to detail!! Rest In Peace PRN🙏🏻.
Can imagine Mozart beeing impressed with the guy, genius. Writes lyrics, music, compose, sings, moves, dress, plays multible instruments and masterlevel Guitar. But most of all he invents and captures the time.
Did anyone notice how he activates the Flanger pedal (Boss BF2 MIJ) on 4:24 !?!?!?! He steps on it and goes his way… I've never seen anything like this... What a detail!!! A beast on stage!!!
It isn't just hitting clean notes that you makes someone a genius guitarist...It's the ability to move the listener, and Prince could do that every bit as well as any of the so called ''genius'' guitarists throughout history.
Timothy Rice it’s always a failed, unknown guitarist or never-do-nothing-in-life armchair critic that gotta say some dumb shit like you just said. Meanwhile, all the guitarists you think are great are saying they KNOW Prince is great and absolute genius.
Naw, he wasn’t all that on guitar and no I am talking about myself so don’t go there, he just was just a show man and people “oh” and “ah” his noodling
It blows my mind every time how insanely talented Prince was. There was no one like him. How he could play the guitar, so melodic, musically and shredding whenever it fits the music. He was the best, no discussion. Genius.
To me this musical genius took off when Hendrix got cut off. Don’t know know anyone left alive who plays guitar as raw and electrifying as the Purple one did. Thank you Prince for sharing your great gift with all of us.
In my opinion the greatest entertainer and performing artist of all time man the music industry will never be the same without this guy some people get it and some don't this is a real musical genius as a musician myself I get amazed every time I watch him perform thank you for posting this video
@@wojciechpischinger6564I think that was Princes best guitars. The strats with floyd roses. He could really beat them up without knocking them out of tune.
A few more weeks and it will be five years since this iconic and musical genius was taken from the world. One of the very very very few true stars that is missed by his fans. Never will there be another like Prince Rogers Nelson. Rest in funky peace 🙏
This guy just oozed talent. He was put on this earth just to entertain and show everyone how to master multiple instruments. After he did his job,he departed and went to heaven and is now showing them up there how it is done. Thanks to the Lord for giving us Prince and thank you Prince for giving us long lasting memories.May you Rest In Peace.
He's the best technical overall in every style. What one great technical guitarist is great, they tend to lack that across all genres. Prince was ALL genres
He was a gift to music, to the entire scene. When he passed I had been far off grid and out of touch. Didn't know he was gone until almost two months after. I still feel ashamed of that. So much of his music is a large part of the soundtrack of my lifetime.
Yeah they murdered him like MJ and then tried to ruin his reputation. SMDH. His journey was controversial but where he ended up spiritually and morally speaks volumes.
Brian Beran he is VERY underrated. He is up there with Hendrix, Clapton, SR Vaughn etc. I wish he did more stuff like this. The video of him playing in a super band inducting George Harrison into the rock and roll hall of fame, playing “While my guitar gently weeps is a masterful performance and shows his serious chops on the guitar.
