Hi Sian and Neil. When it comes to 'have (your) cake and eat it', for the explanation I think it would be better to say 'try to gain two (opposite) advantages from one thing' Thanks a lot for all the BBC Learning English's programmes, I'm learning a lot with you!

I'm actually working on books and I was able to have one published. It's called "Amy and the Faith Scouts - The Diamond of Dandasterton." It's a novel and it took almost a year to write it. I'm so happy it's finished and published. I'm working on other books right now and the fact that you read so many books last year is an encouragement to me as a teenage author to keep on writing. 'From the horse's mouth' could mean 'from a source of fact rather than account' and come from a time when the modern day car salesperson was selling people horses and the horse's teeth was like the car milometer. A horse trader might tell you a horse is five years old, but an expert could tell you the horse is ten years old and that was 'from the horses mouth' likewise, any statement proved by fact is 'from the horse's mouth. Another explanation might be 'first news of an event' as important news used to be taken place to place on horseback - just like 'winning by a nose' the horse was the first to arrive with the important news, so very new news is 'from the horse's mouth'. Another explanation might be 'what actually happened opposed to account' as all events of any importance were with horses and the horse would be seen as an impartial reliable witness (especially in battle) so 'from the horse's mouth' could have derived from 'the horses would tell a truthful story' and 'from the horse's mouth' allude to 'truth' not 'tale'. The BBC is probably echoing modern usage of the idiom, but it's very unlikely people in past centuries would have likened others to animals in polite conversation.

Ah, great question! In this context, to 'leak' means to 'make secret or private information known'. So, there was lots of secret or private information in Prince Harry's book that was going to become public when the book was available to buy, but some people leaked the information early. We use the verb 'leak' with things like security, or classified or personal information. Hope that helps!

Harry is not a man to be taken seriously. His comments about his family are spiteful, vindictive and hurtful but people don’t change overnight and rest assured they’ve seen this side of Harry before. This unnecessary drama will pass, it always does. While Harry rolls a spliff and continues to turn the spotlight on himself, the true Royals will go about their duties in a dignified, calm manner and continue to shine the spotlight on deserving causes.

No culturally classy man will admit to reading a book in which the author without consent describes intimate relationships, including sex with other people. Especially since these people can be easily identified. It is a form of rape and violence. It's funny that in the context of the book, everyone only talks about Harry and Meghan's privacy - that they once wanted privacy and ran away from the media and today they describe everything. It's hypocritical of course, but that's their business, they agreed to it. More sad, however, is that no-one notices what kind of violence they committed on the privacy of other people in this book. This lady from the first time was identified as their polo teacher. Other women are mentioned there as well. Did they agree to let the whole world read about their relationship? Do Harry and Meghan so supposedly understand what disrespect for privacy and leaking private information to the media is and what it does to mental health when it is not wanted, do they not notice what hell they may have inflicted on these people? This is a scandal, they should never be at any human rights, feminism or mental health gala ever again(sorry for my english)

The Book- It’s so hard to put into words what I’m feeling after reading Harry’s book, Spare. I cried, I vented to my hubby, it was a roller coaster. This morning I woke up feeling this- It’s hard watching others go down with a ship, but utterly heart-rendering to watch people you love go down with the ship, after you have thrown them a life jacket. Harry has opened the cell door, and left it ajar…but sadly Charles and William don’t want to exit. They are both ill prepared to do any other kind of work. They are slaves to an institution that is built on greed, lies and deceit. The Monarchy is a sinking ship, and they refuse to put those life jackets on even though Harry can show them a better way. Thankfully, Harry isn’t bobbing in the water anymore. He’s emerged from the icy grip of death into real life. He’s wearing dry clothing, sitting in front of a blazing fire (with a window open…LOL). He’s free at long last to say and do as he pleases. One can respect that. I can respect that. Harry deserves to be happy, alas, as long as his brother and father (whom he continues to love), refuse to be helped, there will always be a tiny shadow of sorrow that he must go forth with. However, he doesn’t walk that long road of life alone. He has the love of his life by his side, faithful and strong. He has his two children- a son and a daughter. He has his dogs. He has the California sunshine. He has a new country. He has the love and respect of those faithful (not so few), who have never stopped supporting him. Not since he was born, and certainly not since we watched him walk behind his Mum’s coffin. I made a vow to both boys that day, to mentally support them from afar, and to pray for them. I realize now that the vow I made was made especially for one vulnerable, grief-stricken 12 year old boy. I was outraged to watch you do that walk. It should never have happened. If it had been in my power, it would not have happened! Harry, you may have not been able to cry much over the years…but know this, I’ve cried plenty for you, and on your behalf. I’ve read all the tabloids of you growing up. I never believed them all, and for those that I did believe, I filed them under “youthful missteps”in what must have been (and is now confirmed) to be a near impossible existence in that suffocating, but gilded jail cell you were in. Breathe the fresh air, Sir. With Love, Your Faceless Mom from 🇨🇦
