I went to a Prince concert in the 80's and his performance was breath taking. The show ended with him throwing a tambourine into the crowd, I fell down trying to catch it, I left the show hoarse with sore knee's!!!!

Because I don't think mega celebrities fanned out for Elvis, Luther, etc. the way they did for Prince. He also, through his sexuality, said it was OK, for men to be playful, to adore, to accept a masculine femininty. I am so glad, that we were given the time we had with him. Agreed. I’ve done some deep dives of his lyrics of songs I somehow missed. On paper, the lyrics didn’t really make sense or was just OK. When I saw the video and/or heard the music of certain songs, I was blown away!! He had the ability to create like a scientist in a lab. All the ingredients with the secret sauce of his presence and performance, was just unlike anyone else. Weird that several people just did not understand “If I Was Your Girlfriend” though.

I went to three and his club in Vegas where my sister and I danced with him and took pictures on my pink flip phone. Next day we continued our road trip to the east coast. Going thru New Mexico at night we saw a huge UFO. Took a video of it on THAT FLIP PHONE. next am turned phone over to MUFON investigators ( Had to give phone not copies of pics) they kept my phone and paid me 140 bucks for it months later with an official UFO #! I should have kept the phone with all my pictures.

This was such a wonderful treat! Why am I screaming right now like this is just yesterday! PURE PERFECTION!!! I really miss THIS GENIUS! I will never forget seeing his Purple Rain Tour in 1984 with my husband- back then highschool sweetheart at the Cow Palace - floor seats section B, row 29 seats 14 & 15! Ending his last performance with NO BAND -Just his piano and Mic Tour on March 4, 2016 -5 weeks before he passed on! I cried for 2 weeks straight and still tear up to his Purple Rain song! His last gift to us was at the Oakland, Ca Oracle Area Sec 106, row L seats 10 & 11. The clarity of his voice and piano was truly amazing, no interruptions on a band just him! What a BEAUTIFUL Gift! It was perfection! My husband and will never ever forget those performances!

Oh-ooh My God ....not just pure perfection, sheer perfection personified .....you would have to be in a coma, not to feel the effect of Prince Rogers Nelson....that man was and still is music...no matter where you are ....when you hear Prince your body of its own accord, will begin to move and ain't nothing u can do about it....but jam....and feel good.....Yes I can barely write this comment for moving my body...and although I saw this episode of Oprah with his Royal Badness, it's still like seeing it 4 the first time all over again.....complete excitement and pure joy....Thank you so much Ren'e Nieuwenhuis for uploading this gem, we really needed this!!!!!

This version of If I Was Your Girlfriend is just top tier af!! I wish I could bottle it up and keep with me forever because my God!! It proved Prince was still on the cutting edge even in the 90s and his genius songwriting was always unmatched! I’ve seen many performances of this song over the years and each time it gets even funkier, but this performance was funk personified!! I love it!! 🔥🔥🔥
