I love this live version. Check out Esperanza Spalding if I was your girlfriend on YT. It was in 2010 a tribute to Prince. He loved it as well. It is a 2:24 video.

I so agree! It's my favorite version, and I have to go searching around the world to find it. And I don't think this is the full version. There is a little more of the instrumental at the end as well...

I'm not sure I've heard the version where the instrumental at the end is longer. this was straight from the SD vinyl that has the DVD of NYE, unless the leaks of this concert in poor quality has the longer instrumental? or a different show?

@@prn_legacy I use to have a link to the live concert bookmarked, but it’s not up anymore. It was the same show Nye ‘87. I’ve been searching for it. I think it was leading into another song or maybe it I just wanted it to be longer, lol. Why is it not available anywhere! It was the best…

Prince was to release an album titled Camille that is where the alter ego comes from in the high falsetto .But Warner Bro. Did not want to release it because they said it would confuse his fans .so the songs ended up on Sign " O" Times album.
