Walkthrough of Prince of Persia 1 (1989), played&recorded in DosBox, original resolution. Not a perfect time, but first after my return to this game. Enjoy & Thanks for watching.
I remember when my late father was playing this game, with our old pc win 98.. this game was so hard that my father have to tried many times, but I remember when he finished this game for the first time his face is beamed with a proud smile..
i played and finished this game when i was a kid... the only thing different is that i remember there was a room at the begining with all these potions where u have to choosr the correct ones
Used to draw maps to learn the levels. Game was hard even with out the time limit. Time limit made it infernal as kid. But with the maps won it at last.
+Izak80 I played this when I was young, at night. I encountered the invincible skeleton in the 3rd level and I was so freaked out, I never touched the game again.
+qsqua Yeah, it was a difficult game for sure. The old games where alot more difficult back in the day. Nowadays the Dark Souls series is considered difficult, just compare that to the games of old like Rush n Attack, Punch Out and so on.
An amazing thing: I used to play this game obsessively, completing it numerous times, around 25 years ago. Since then I haven't touched it once. Until last week. Lo and behold, every pixel of it is still intact in my muscle memory. I don't even have to think to finish it.
I remember when I used to play this game when I was 4. I never made it past this 7:00 jump because I didn't know that we could hold on to ledges. If I did I would probably have cleared it. But the fact that I cleared almost 2 levels of this game at that age still fascinates me. Good ol' days!
1:50 Man, look at the small number of people involved in this classic. You could fit them around 1 lunch table, or 2 cars! I envy that about the 80s and 90s.
thank u, my record was much lower as well, but that was about 10 years ago... this video is more a walkthrough than a display of top record, therefore i tried going to most of usefull places and captured intro & cinematics :D im glad ppl still like this game even after so much times passed :P
This game used to give me creepy vibes. But still I loved it. Also I find the whole shadow thing super cool. Having to sheath your sword to "defeat" it is such a powerful moment. Amazing game.
It was one of if not the earliest use of rotorscoping in a video game. Check out a video on how Mechner filmed his brother running to make the animations!
10:38 I only got 53 minutes to live? Let me chill first... #YOLO, Princess. 😂 This brought so much memories...I was 13 when I first have a PC and this game in my room...took weeks before I got how to pass the level with the mirror thing, that wicked shadow broke my heart!!! The toothy glass chopping thingy always stir my bowels up side down and I always running out of time, so I never get the chill princess...damn! Thanks for this!
I completed this game back in the day and I still regard it as a pivotal game that goes to show how crucial gameplay and level design really trump graphics.
I spent hours in the computer lab in high school trying to beat this game, because I suck at it. Took me months. Looking back, it'd have been better spent doing other things. But I did enjoy the game.
+smurfyday i played throug it in one evening and since that, never played again. funny but after a while just a waste of time. it's the same with youtube clips, there are better things to do ;)
good job. get your record time up at the beginning.. in the first level.. when you drop from the first tile,, you can skip the whole level by not getting the sword. stand very close to the right of the screen where the first goon is and when he gets close enogh, run away and go around where you can skip him and pass the level..
What an archaic masterpiece, the game is definitely one of the best games of all time, still the sword plays, with all simplicity, is more satisfying and exhaustive than most of the current sword and gunplay, the ability you can parry your opponents and the presence of your deceitful should make this that full-bodied that even I sometime play this game and spend 30 minutes of my precious time to defeat Jaffar and save Sultan's daughter. A very huge thanks to Jordan Mechner and those who care about Persian rich culture and religion!
+Ibrahim Can You can't progress. Those appearing out of thin air tiles don't appear. Besides, I think he mimics your movements i.e. whatever button input you give the white prince, the black prince does the same thing. Thus, have I ended up killing myself and him a lot of times.
Bruh idk what her problem is. That Jaffar guy is probably loaded and has the nicest pink robes. The main character is some ex con who can't afford sleeves. This princess is really dumb
Nostalgia my favourite game as a kid on the amiga. Took me ages to get past that bridge bit on level 12, just ran and jumped off the edge out of frustration, couldn't believe it when the bridge materialized.
I jumped out of frustration at the level below it but there was no bridge to save me lol and I fell off that top level when fighting mirror guy and there was no bridge either 💀 hate that bridge
Remember playing this as a kid... Me and my sister spent months trying to get past the first guard, until one day I accidentally hit shift and actually stabbed him
Man i dont know that this game was prince of persia. I used to play this game when I was a kid. Now i know that I have completed each and every prince of persia
first time i played this game i was 12 years old on my Pentium 1 IBM in 1996 it was my first computer ever and i had prince of persia in it and the out put sound was from the speakers yes i had speakers tha time 80 wat and Windows 95 with the first internet explorer and Winup player ! i had also F1 vroom game Moto and my first game i bought was Tom raider 3 it was good days !! but i still can play all these games whenever i want thanks to emulators !
OMG how do u remember the whole game and finish it within an hour?? i have trouble in passing first level and u finished all levels in ease.awesome dude keep it up.
Game of my childhood. When I was a little I never passed lv. 6, because I always didn't have enough time. (I had a version without quick saves or I didn't know I could save game) Today I downloaded version with quick saves and for first time I completed the game. (within 46 minutes)
On level 8 20:30 how did you kill that guard? Even if I go slightly near before I cannot be fast enough to take my sword & he kills me! ;( Please help...
z evekar hey I know this is a year later but you can do 2 things. 1. Do the following combo- ⬅️⬆️shift 2x until he falls of the edge 2. Press ⬇️and then spam shift. Repeat that until he dies
Just fuckin' guillotine 'em. You know Jaffar's evil when he commits copyright infringement across time and space by taking the French's guillotine and making his own OC version.
Hardest game I ever played as a kid. I couldn't even pass the first level; just couldn't get a hang of the controls. Played it again today for the first time in decades and made it to the second level after a lot of frustration. So I decided to watch a playthrough to see what I was missing. Nope, not gonna try to finish this one! Brutal.
in the remake (POP classic) you can actually shut the gate before the shadow drinks the potion. I tried to do that in the original but the shadow just goes thru the gate and drinks the potion anyway. Here's a video i made of it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3JhEdYyoVaI.htmlm12s
Thanks for the upload. You have good skill in this game. My record was around 25 minutes (faster than you), but I didn't play it with your finesse and completionist objective in mind. Considering that you drank pretty much all the upgrade potions, you did very well. Brings back so many fond memories from my childhood. ;-)
