In recent times, music lovers have been confounded with the tragic and shocking news that some of their most beloved stars had passed away in controversial circumstances. The music world has again been stunned by the sudden and tragic news that Prince, the legendary musician, died at his home in Minneapolis at the age of just 57, and it was recently confirmed the singer died of an opioid overdose. He was one of the most naturally gifted artists of all time, and also one of the most mysterious. In the Eighties, at a time when other megastars such as Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, and Madonna, were delivering an album every three years or so, Prince remained prolific to an almost inhuman degree. A byproduct of his inexhaustible output was Prince's tendency toward wayward, self-indulgent career moves that sometimes alienated even his most ardent supporters. His influence is unparalleled, and his legacy will live on through his inspirational music. In this fascinating documentary, we take an in depth look into the life and times of one of music’s greatest performers…Prince.

This is one of the worst days my heart was broken and I cried so much over a man that I had never met or even got to see him in concert. He will forever stand with the select few that are beyond greatness !!! ☮️🙏💜

My first Prince concert was first row. I was so shocked the second I saw him walk on stage I don't think I heard a single sound for the entire song. I don't even remember what he played first. I couldn't look away, I heard nothing and saw nothing but him, it's like I had been shot through a tunnel into a glimpse of his universe and there I stood standing before the amazing human suffering from what I can only describe as a waking sleep paralysis. He was that incredible. I don't remember a time in my life where I didn't love his music. If I walked in a store and they were playing Prince it was involuntary for me to sing to the top of my lungs and I cared not who heard or how bad I embarrassed anyone. Oh dear God I had "Prince" pants, crushed purple velvet bell bottoms with buttons going down the side. Prince didn't have a gift. He WAS the gift. When I learned of his passing I lost the ability to stay vertical. I was once again back in that tunnel to his universe where I couldn't hear anything. I saw their lips moving on the television In what felt like slow motion but I didn't hear a sound. That's what it sounds like. That silence, that silence so loud it's all you can hear, that's what it sounds like. When doves cry. There will never be another.

Prince was brilliant. And unique. So much genius in one body/mind. I don't know how such rare beings come to exist, but we always feel lucky when we get to experience them in some way. God knows how many tears the human race has cried over "Purple Rain" alone (the song). Prince could not only write a song, he could play every instrument. Of all his abilities, it was actually his bass playing that impresses me most to this day. A mindblowing person and personality, and the only Jehovah's Witness I could see myself _welcoming_ into my home.

just saw Sheila E's halftime show for Timberwolves and she started with Prince's song Housequake. You can see she's still hurting & mourning her friend. She tried but fell flat. Prince's energy was missing from the dancers to the performers. Wasn't tight like he did it. But I appreciate her for bringing his spirit through song for everyone to remember again. I miss Prince too. Can't fight fate. When he scaled back his high energy performances to intimate ones and talked of being bored and liked sleeping more, something he rarely been known to do it felt like he was tired & reserved his fate. In Dialogues of Plato he said the spirit is at a constant battle with the body. The body is breaking down from the day were born till tge day we die. It wants to return back to where it came from. There, there was no illness no pain, no need for all the things a decaying body needs to sustain itself. And so it goes. Reasoning for why people die young even in childhood. Being reincarnated still wanting and longing to return to pure Spirit. One with the creator. In Prince's song One Song he talks about this very struggle with life and getting back to where we came and how we make the transition. Peace Brother Prince. A name befitting him RIP.

@@lesliemarshall8652 S-E only worked with Prince but I’m sure at one time they we’re friends but after that big fight with them 2 Prince told her to say away from him an Paisley Park but she did threaten Prince An Prince we t a put a restraining order against Shelia An she did lie about many things about her an Prince. They didn’t ever speak after an that was for many years An since his death she has done nothing but lie about his marriage proposal to her an he spoke about that statement she put out long ago. When Prince passed away she was on the tv an news stations still lying an making money from his death for the last 3an1/2yrs. Now when she is able to perform after this terrible virus she will not be making money off of singing his songs unless she gets permission to become a Prince tribute band and I know she don’t want to do that she needs to start writing her own songs and singing them if that’s what she wants to do bc she is really a drummer not a lead singer.

I saw Prince live when Purple Rain came out. Actually I saw him live in Minnesota over Christmas. He played 9 concerts here over the week of Christmas. My friends and I got into 7 of them-ONE ON CHRISTMAS DAY! One of the concerts-I was able to witness the most amazing thing you could ever want to see. At the end of one of the greatest concerts we have ever had the privilege of being in the presence of, Prince came back on stage to sing Purple Rain. I think that last song went on for more then 45 minutes! When it got to the end part of the song-the arena exploded with voices singing for him! It was so amazing-there is no way to put it into words to accurately describe it. It went on and on and he fell to the ground and cried while everyone sang TO him. By the time it all ended there was NO ONE in that arena that wasn't crying. as we walked out to our vehicles-everyone that you looked at was still crying. There was no usual "after concert" excitement or talking and laughing, all you could hear and see were people crying. And in case you misunderstand, it wasn't sad crying- it was the kind of crying when you are so deeply involved in something that all your emotions come out in tears. Watching him FEEL the whole arena singing TO him was the most amazing sight and feeling I have ever felt. I will never forgot those moments in time! I still feel like this day was yesturday! Everytime I hear this song-I zone out and can remember and feel every moment!

Just when you think you have a handle on this... his passing... you watch this and hear the love there was for him, and you notice tears rolling down your face, unchecked . My "Prince Story" is odd and sad but strangely comforting. I was in a physical rehabilitation hospital after massive back surgery. I had to learn how to walk and bend all over again. One morning I woke up with a strong desire to wear the lavender shirt and purpleish shorts I had, so the nurses helped me. I was sitting there watching the news later when the announcement was made. Needless to say I was shocked. The doctor came in, he was middle age like me, but he had on a purple tie and said " I see you wore your purple today to honor Prince".. I was like " Huh? " and then I looked down and saw what I had on and that's when the dam burst and I started sobbing. Not crying but sobbing like I'd just lost my other half.

I must pay tribute to MJ, as he was an original major player and both were kings of their day. Prince on the other hand was the silent assassin, the ultimate musician. I wish more people got to see this talent. Many concerts later and I can tell you he was the greatest performer I have ever seen in my life. Bravo Sir, what an era I lived in. I’m proud to have seen such a talent in their prime, he was always pushing the boundaries, gave power back to modern musicians, will be missed and IS totally irreplaceable. RIP purple Yoda xxx

Well said @EdParker!! Best concert out of literally hundreds that I have had the pure pleasure to experience....his concert (Purple Rain Tour-March 1985-The Omni, Atlanta....FRONT AND CENTER)...was not "just a concert or show", but seeing/feeling/hearing Prince, was, as we used to say "a TOTAL RELIGIOUS experience!!" RIP Our Beloved Prince....see ya on the Other Side!

I have been to many concerts and enjoyed every one of them but the 13 times I saw Prince were the best moments of my life …I live in Belgium so if I would have lived in the Us that would have been times 10 …were the best moments of my life …Thanks to My Hero I know the definition of being truly happy ! I have problems dealing with fact that I will never see Him again and it hurts me like crazy ! He is and always will be for me the best ever and no one comes close ! I miss Him but luckily I have His music and youtube to comfort me when I feel the pain !

Prince had major hip problems and was on his way to needing a hip replacement. He wore 8 inch heals every day of his life from about 20 onward and moved like Michael Jackson with a guitar in his hands for 6-7 hours of every day, sometimes more. He needed painkillers to survive the chronic pain and gruelling schedule he undertook week in week out, year in year out, besides sleeping 3 hours a day. It’s no surprise he died so young. I’m surprised he made it as far as he did. He gave everything and the universe decided he’d done enough.

I'm sitting here thinking about what 2say...I can only say:"PRINCE." He has definition beyond words. Prince means:living your passion and taking all of us on the journey with him through his brilliance, his mine field of eternal poems set to THAT SOUND. Funk, and magic...sweat and more sweat...Explosions that erupted from that soul that is only Prince. That soul, that music became one with his fans. That's PRINCE:an amalgamation of Past, Present, and our journey down the road. Etheral...

According to Prince, "The Artist Formerly Known As" was a media invention. He never gave himself that name. Also, the symbol came about because of his contractual disputes with WB. Anything released by "Prince" belonged to them during that time, so he creatively got around that with the symbol.

I've always loved Prince's music and felt that he always had a special love affair with his fans every time he sang one of his songs. I remember when I first saw Prince's movie "Purple Rain" when it was first released in the early '80s in the Village (in Manhattan)--I cried at the end of the movie when he sang the signature song of the movie title. Prince, I love you, I miss you! We all love you, may you R.I.P.

The many years of intense performing on stage, you know, leaping from giant speakers, jumps landing in a Grand Ecart. He was as nimble as a cat. I believe that started to cause him a lot of pain. That guy at 5:40 makes it sound as if Prince sold his soul to get what was necessary. He didn't need to do that. He already had all the skills, talent, and creativity.

I'm speaking only because of my personal experience with not only Prince but that mean little patch called the Duragesic patch, witch is a fentanyl patch. First off I grew up listening to almost every single type of music, I could remember and sing along with so many different artist and their songs at a very young age, I can recall probably the first song that I New Every single word to was crocodile Rock by Elton John, My first grade teacher would play it on a record player for me and put a pair of ear phones on my head, I think it was the equivalent of a timeout in today's world, but I loved it, I would grow up listening to everyone from Queen to Waylon Jennings or even Neil Diamond to Kizz , Suger Hill Gang to the Jackson five. I never Heard Anyone that I tried to be like until I heard and actually seen Prince, I jumped in Head first Even though I didn't dress like him I did wear my hair like him and ride a motorcycle to highschool instead of getting a new car to drive. About those Patches, when I was in my early 20s I was involved in a very bad car wreck, it cracked my spine in two different places, eventually after awakening out of coma I was released from the hospital and told to wear those Patches, I wish I New back then what I know now, those Patches are for people that are in later stages of cancer, I wasn't supposed to be put on them and I can only assume that Neither was Prince, I know for a fact that they will consume your life, and after you are addicted to them or dependent on them, it's almost impossible to come off of them, I quit wearing them only after a life long battle that I am still Fighting, one day at a time and with the help of God and support from family members, but also with the support of a Doctor! I can almost guarantee you that I would be dead already if I hadn't gotten help to get off of that stuff. The fact that Prince had to get a shot of Narcan, witch is an emergency shot too reverse the reaction to an opiate overdose , kinda gives me an ideal of what he might have been going through , but I think he was one of the most all around talented people and music, he may be gone but through his music his name will forever carry on. **Rip Purple Man**

You’re not alone in that. I know for myself, I was already in a deep depression and this really pushed me over the edge. Took 2 years before I was able to really listen to certain songs again. In some songs, it just truly felt like he knew that he had done everything he could here and it was time for him to rest in the way he wasn’t able to throughout all of those years. He was constantly creating and helping those without and working on new music. I can’t imagine him ever taking a vacation. I’m sure he has but I know he must’ve been extremely exhausted
