McMillan seems to be trying to disrupt the completion of the Netflix documentary. I would be interested to understand what is happening with the Estate these days...
Hey Sinnik 22 ...so far I shared your channel to Apollonia,Jill Jones,Brown Mark,Andre Cymone,Morris Day,Jerrome Benton,Jimmy jam & Terry Lewis,Wendy & Lisa and alot of Prince groups pages on face book & RU-vid ... can't wait until you finish the Thriller Effect...and you gotta do one for the 50th anniversary of HIP-HOP ... peace and keep going....
Humbled. That you would do that…got to give thanks 👆☺️. Can’t figure out if I should release TTE here or make a new channel🤔. Maybe Wu Tang, that’s a DEEP tale.
@@Sinnik22 Wu Tang is my favorite group and it's affiliates... I'm from the west coast so Uncle Jam's Army,Egyptian Lover,Alonzo Williams,Ice T,Captain Rapp,Disco Daddy are our Forefathers of west coast Hip Hop... Especially Jimmy Spicer & Count cool out.. ✌✌ Watts,Ca
@@Sinnik22 Especially World class... The Roadium Swap meet was the spot where we will see Dr. Dre Scratch as Kids we use to beg Dr.Dre & Steve Yano to say our names on a personal mixtape for $10 ..Skateland,Didoo's & Eve after dark was clubs we couldn't get in when they had the 14 & over days before 8pm (no alcohol was serve) but we wanted to see N.W.A & The Posse...many times we snuck in just to pop lock & break dance after watching Beat Street & Breakin'... it was a Compton V.s Watts that night... until we got kicked out.. 😂😂
And damn all that noise about him not being at the We Are the World sessions. Frank Zappa said he was right. There's no part of that song I hear him in, much though I love it. But Madonna wasn't there either, and nobody made a stink about that.
That whole We Are The World situation, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones' entitled attitudes, pisses me off still to this day. They gave Prince such a hard time and yet, you never hear anything negative about Madonna not participating. They tried to bully Prince into doing it and I'm glad he stuck to his guns and did not show up.
@@Sinnik22 Madonna was at the Live Aid concert. Nonetheless, they didn't bug her about WATW. Personally, I ALWAYS felt 4 the Tears in Your Eyes was a more HEARTFELT song. We Are the World is good but not as not as much IMHO.
Bob Geldof too. 🙄 4 the Tears in Your Eyes was from the heart. Don't get me started on Billy Crystal of all people mocking Prince on SNL in a crappy skit. 🤢🤮
Mann thank yawl 🙏🏽fa doin diss video own da Prince 🤴🏾 of Muzik in hiz own wordz🗣️ 👏🏽💪🏽Long Live Da Prince 🤴🏾 of Muzik 🌹 Prince Rogers Nelson 🕊️👑❤️😔☔🎹🎤🥁🎸🎧🎥
16:38 Prince got my respect when he said NO to USA for Africa. He marches to the beat of his own drummer 🥁 It was a no win situation so good on him for sitting it out because Prince obviously enjoys controlling his own work
He’s excellent. He is even doing better than the interviews Wendy and Lisa, the whole Revolution and Appalonia herself participated in. They need to hire you my boy.
I can see why P was pissed off at Nelson George. Also, regarding Carol Cooper's comments about UTCM, she's on point. The inner photography of the PARADE album (especially the backgrounds in those B&W pics) have a Surrealist quality to them. IMO, putting UTCM into color takes away from the faux-'30s/'40s vibe Prince was going with.
Prince is so adorable as a grown man and little boy I know this sounds silly but he look like the kind of little boy that would have a pocket full of candy like some jaw breakers jolly ranchers Red hots lemon heads mike ike's and now or laters and offer you some after school he seems so familiar to me even seem like he had candy and his mouth when he was talkin on the footage when he was a little kid I just love this dude
Nothing will ever touch OUTIM as my Prince biodoc. Only a dedicated fam would know how this should work. The EDIT just keeps on getting better and better! Thanx 2 @Sinnik you got me wet! ☮️💜
I remember this. Prince sent Sheila E in his place. People talked about him not being their, but their were many artist who weren't there. I guess Quincy learned he is not the boss. Prince does what he wants to do. You can't make somebody do something you're not paying them for. Besides which, Prince has donated to many causes and foundations over the year. They tried to put him in a club a clique he refused to be in. I hate cliques, they pigeon hold people not in them. How is that artistic freedom. I don't blame him.
The time and effort to find all of those sound clips and all the video footage… you must be an Uber-Prince fan, or a meticulous journalist. It almost made me forget that Prince is no longer with us. Great video of Prince. You can tell I like writing “Prince”. 😉🥹💜💯
Sinnik I'm confused, Howard Bloom said no one knew who Prince was before his second album in 1979, but For You not only charted on the Billboard 200 but went multi platinum. There's a newspaper report saying Prince sold 3 million records before he was 20. For You released 2 months before Prince's 20th birthday.
They understated his age in the beginning saying he was 17 in 77. So the world thought he turned 20 in 81 probably (No internet). Also his previous albums all shot up in sales when Purple Rain exploded.
@@Sinnik22 makes sense, however the newspaper that says Prince sold 3 million albums is from February 1981. At the time "Prince" was platinum and Dirty Mind was Gold.
I remember the article. It didn’t say albums it said records. So all of the singles he had released would have been counted in that tally. He sold at least 1 mil plus of iwbyl. Without even counting the other singles & based on your numbers alone plus iwbyl, we’re at 2.5 mil. I’d bet his other singles releases make up for the rest. Also Bloom qualified his comment saying that prince was “only” known as a “black chart” artist. Back then the average pop fan might not know about Melba Moore & the average RnB fan may have never heard of Morrissey/the Smiths.
@@Sinnik22 so would you say these wikipedia entries are incorrect regarding For You and Prince album? "On release in 1978, For You reached number 163 on the US Billboard 200 chart and number 21 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart. It went on to sell approximately two million copies worldwide." "Prince peaked at 22 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Billboard R&B Chart. The album was certified platinum by the R.I.A.A four months after its release."
Mr sinnikk22 I swear every time I Swear I've seen the latest episode. U surprise me with a new one that quick. The amount of time you invest in these episodes r so brilliant. I would put your work against any movie out now. I feel like I'm watching resurrection the Tupac movie. It's there own words. Not Hollywood. Please sir keep making beautiful episodes. I look forward re living a journey of a man I enjoyed since 81 when my cousin put the headphones on me and said LISTEN. The images the music r a reason I can't sell my records. I will strongly invest my money into u sir. I wanna start a podcast and talk about your talent and how yourself became a prince friend. (Won't say fan lol). Once again thanks for the journeys u give us
Hey Sinnik 22 love the channel!! What do you know about the Netflix documentary? Do you think it will happen this year in 2023? Keep doing you cuz Nuthing compares 2 U!!✌💜🤑
I don't think Madonna's success had anything to with her business acumen. I think she had a great team and she did as she was told. Once she became a star, I'm sure she had more say in what happened.
Madonna was smart and ambitious, she wasn't a complete artist like Prince. However, she loved to push the envelope and could spot trends -- she hired the best people to bring forth her vision. Madonna was feisty, can't she her rolling over.
Mad Donna had a great look and great stylists etc. Didn't play even 1 instrument... totally manufactured... which was fine at the time... but no comparison to multi talented Prince!
Latoya really should've told Prince how awful Carmen Elektra's album was. Who knows? Perhaps he would've scrapped that crap decide to instead shift his focus on Rosie Gaines' solo career.
Prince from listening work hard to do and produce along with respect for who owned but he definitely work on it and try to stay in the world of music he and others created separate and together even tho there were times did not see eye to eye we all are indeed different but to care and not run a game if you heard earlier he wasn't haven't it sounds like he wanted the best for whom ever worked with but if he didn't speak up than he too would have close some things and altogether would have made a difference yes.he said certain things and meant it all want all input is far more effective and prince you did your thing I'm staying out the messy Parts acknowledge all but I got say his mindset was great I love that he say can't you controll 🗣️🔊
What do you mean he should have never built the place Paisley Park allowed Prince to work in peace be creative anytime you wanted to can't tell people how to spend their money
Its very simple. If the discographic records owned the masters- then they would put the money and the effort to make them popular. Since Prince started owning his records - they had no interest to promote his work because there was nothing in it for them. That is how it is in the music industry. They make you big so they can make more money than you will make out of your art. You can sit at home and write the songs with the best hit potential in history of mankind- if you dont sell them the songs so they can profit from them first (and then what is left is for you)- they wont promote it. In some cases, some record companies can even get revanchist if they feel double crossed by an artist- they can even wage smear campaing against artists. That is how it is.
Who ever says that Under the cherry moon was terrible just simply didn’t get it and should keep their ignorant mouth shut. Period. It was a beautiful film.
Algorithm 🥂🍾 Now...let me stay out of people's comment threads. Can't talk that much about Prince nowhere else though... irresistible jump off point for philosophy of life.
I wonder if Lisa Marie Presley ever met Prince? I know that she was a musician and obviously married to Michael Jackson. I know that this is off topic.
Quincy Jones needed to understand that he has no leverage with industry outsiders. Happened again with Tupac. Austin Powers wouldn't return his calls after he was done with him. And Bob Geldoff is the John Walsh of musialcal pyramid scams.
I still love prince...but if you take my money and give me product, I bought that product and it's mine. He should have licensed his music to retain ownership. But that don't pay the rent or build purple castles. Can't have it both ways. And looking at Aretha and James respective deals was delusional. They are the KING and QUEEN. You're just the Prince
I loved prince more than most but purple rain got way too much credit just because nobody had done a similar movie. It was really just a bunch of music videos put together with some dialogue in between it and nobody and I mean nobody in that movie could act. Even Clarence williams III does an awful performance compared to his other films. Under the cherry moon and any other films afterwards sucked terribly. Prince was no actor. He was a musical artist.
Prince really fucked up that night of we are the world, not because he didn't do it but all the other shit with going out on the town and getting photographers beat up. "don't wanna eat in a hotel"? naw, that was the beginning of the end of Prince's commercial peak and at least some of it could have been avoided. Not doing we are the world was the right decision though, MJ would have tried to show him up and with Q at the helm, he woulda gotten no favors.
@Tony you don't have privacy in that situation and unless you want to deal with what he had to deal with afterwards, you are at least conscious of how it would appear to the world. Truth is, I don't think he really cared. Us fans cared because he was our man. I don't think he enjoyed that kind of spotlight, just look at his next few years.
When is that “signing audio” from? He sights, “Sony, A&M, and Warner Bros.”, but in 1977 “Sony” was still CBS/Columbia Records. Not hating, just saying.
