The Commonwealth is so special. Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand etc we are all one people living in different lands. I live in the UK and when I watch this is makes me feel at home our soldiers, our Royals, our history. Well done Canada!! Brothers In Arms.
@51wins America is more special than the Commonwealth. If you look at it the other way you'll clearly see why >>> Duchess Meghan's royal wedding crowd size having to double more than William & Kate's royal wedding crowd size. We all knew at Meghan's that it was an Anglo-American moment, King George III would've dropped his pants at the "God Save The Queen" part!! - Which i am sure many Americans who knew the lyrics and (of course) All British Citizens that were watching in UK or in USA were singing.... America LOVES the British Monarchy; Just Not Him. #USUKSpecialRelationship ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_XPklSP3fe4.html
It is important that Canada never becomes a republic. The crown represents 1000 years of history that never changes in a world that is always in flux its nice to know something remains no matter what. Plus the monarchy is a point that people unite around during disasters and war.
this almost had me in tears. i am so proud of the bond we share with our canadian brothers and sisters (not to mention aussies and kiwis) and i really hope that now, because of brexit, we can get closer again. on behalf of the uk, i'd like to say sorry for turning our backs on you, especially just after you'd helped us through two of the hardest periods of our history. we love you ALL xxxxx
I'm so proud being a Canadian citizen and having her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as our head of state. It makes us unique and different from the states no republic here please!!
+Jacky Xu You Canadians put on a great show, you definitely take after your mother country (but still somehow put a refreshing new world spin on it). I hope UK and Canada remain close family always :)
+Ryan lex You realise Hong Kong (the part of China that has the most rights) was a British territory until 1998 (iirc)? Who are you to turn your nose up!? It saddens me to see a Canadian like you
William is a prince of Canada and the governor general is the representative of Her Majesty the Queen of Canada(The head of state) so the governor general should take the salute. If Prince William becomes the King of Canada in the future, His Royal Highness takes the salute.
I don't know about you but thank god for the royals coming 5 minutes early because that was perfect timing with the flypast to the tune of The British Grenadiers. Long Live The Queen, Her Heirs And Successors!
Saw the Mounties mount guard at HorseGuards Parade in London a couple of years ago. And of course the Van Doos mounted guard at Buckingham Palace and Changed Guard. Did it bloody well too.
Quick note on the Marches here: 10:45 Standard of St. George (Neutral March) 11:48 Milanollo (Quick March of the Governor General's Foot Guards and Coldstream Guards) 12:12 The British Grenadiers (Quick March of the Canadian and British Grenadier Guards)
you want to be differnet from america, and the crown represents that, we gave you independence very early on but we left British and French culture which makes your country good aswell as a better run one. I know many americans who whould rather live in Canada.
Interesting Brian Rodgers says Canadas Soldiers. The two guards appear to be a mix of Grenadiers, on the wrong side of the Coldstream Guards. Grenadiers always right of line. Unless it's Canadian tradition to reverse years of history?
Tom Mccartney In Canada, the Governor-General's Foot Guards (aligned with the Coldstream Guards) are higher in the order of precedence than the Canadian Grenadiers.
May I suggest that the Earl and Countess of Strathearn were as unused to the proximity of the gun salutes as most of those present. When, as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in England & Wales they are accustomed to salutes being given at a suitable distance.
Pq winning majority will never happend due to several reasons such as majority of english and second immigrants from other countries..... pq sucks anyways.... we need conservative and ndp their
+Julian Smith: The GGFG and CGG are both there. The 22é has different cuffs on their tunics, and a red-over-white plume in their bearskins, and their regimental badge in their bearskins as well.
I didn't see them in the video. However, other units are allowed to make up the composition of the Ceremonial Guard, but they wear the uniform of either the GGFG or CGG when they do.
+Anthony: No, as Commander in Chief in and over Canada, the Governor General outranks everybody inside Canada except the Queen herself. Prince William and any other member of the RF other than the Queen actually have no role or prerogatives in the Canadian constitution.
It's pretty odd that the Prince would just stand at a corner and look on while the Governor General inspected the Guard of Honour, considering the Guard of Honour was there for the Prince.
It's official protocol. Since the GG is the Queen's representative in Canada, he is in a much higher position than the prince and therefore takes the salute.
The Guard of Honour was there for the Governor General, the Official and Constitutional Representative of The Sovereign, Her Majesty The Queen, and Constitutional Officer of State.
+Peter Park district of where? Canada is a proud and independent nation of courage and courtesy, where are you from. More importantly, from whom did you fail to learn basic manners.
Canada Should be Republic, why do we still repersent the Crown, we are our own COUNTRY, why should we be apart of a monarchy, Vote New Canadian Republic for new goverment
