Also, it is comforting to see William let loose as it suggests that things are less worrying at home and that Catherine is doing better. Fingers crossed.
I was a working RN in the USA for almost 46 years( retired 3/22 ). Catherine looked gorgeous but thinner, tired, and fragile at Trooping the Colors. I’m sure she was nervous as was William about her appearance that day. KC was so happy to have her there. What the MSM and the Sussex Squad have put that poor woman through is a horror. I could tell that she was being so careful about her steps into the palace out of the carriage. They also said she wore heels that were more stable to walk on and not stilettos. The fact that the hospital breach was investigated and allegedly traced back to someone in the USA speaks volumes.
I don’t think William is controlled. He’s spontaneous. He shows his feelings. When he looks at Catherine the love shines from his eyes. When he looks at is kids you can see the pride and love he feels for them. Nothing false about William. Perfect ❤🏴🇬🇧
The story about Barbara Barnes gave me goosebumps. What a beautiful lady with such incredible maternal instincts. She's right about Harry, too. He was born angry, and he still is. Imagine letting envy and bitterness ruin your life instead of counting your blessings. Being the 'spare' is the better deal by far. Imagine the pressure of being the heir? I know which I'd prefer. Daniela Elsa is a sell-out, and she has to be on the Sussex payroll. Nobody would be able to call Meghan chic and keep a straight face. The woman is a hot mess!!
@mezzamuddle Royal children have not been raised all that well in the past. Diana sabotaged him. The school Charles hated, Gordonstoun, probably would have benefitted Harry.
I believe it. When Diana was pregnant with Harry, she and Charles, were already having marriage problems. It's a known fact, that the foetus, is affected by the mother's, emotional stability.
And the late Queen Mother, she regularly had William for tea - but without Harry (due to his naughty behaviour) which annoyed Diana, so there's another occasion she over compensated for so Harry didn't feel left out..🤔
A friend of mine, who was always very polite, went to school with James Corden. I asked what he was like at school "he hasn't changed, he was always a massive attention seeker .." and sort of trailed off then added "and the rest."😂
The world needs more Prince Williams!!! He shows the power of devotion, loyalty, dedication, dignity, selfless service, living your truth and silence. Notice he has never said one unkind word about his brother and sister in law, or tried to defend himself after years of their abuse. His behavior says it all - rebuffs all the accusations and lies!!! (Love your show!!! I love the researched information that you bring with conviction yet kindness, and a whole lot of fun!)
The Anne Glenconner interview was brilliant, I’ve just bought her two books after listening. A must for anyone interested in the Royal family and the resilience of an amazing woman!
Prince William is used to being ignored by the Media, usually the focus on H&M or Princess Catherine; but Prince William never seems to be jealous of the spotlight.
I think they are lucky in that respect. They are probably pleased to let Harry and his wife have the spotlight, and they probably laugh like us, when they see the pathetic attempts at one-up-manship from the west coast of California. Also, to add, they do have other more serious issues to concern them as well, I mustn't forget that.
I think what makes people love Prince William so much, is that he comes across as a genuinely good person who loves and appreciates his wife, family & country. You’re so right Shauna, he is authentic & not contrived…. I’d love it if you wrote a book with your ability to articulate your insights!!! Ps: I always enjoy your lovely references to your mum as it says a lot about you! Also, Even the healthy Japanese have delicious fried chicken dishes (kareage)- yum!
When he was in his late teens I had my doubts whether he would accept the mantle. I cannot think of any couple better to take up the Monarch's & Queen's positions when tge time comes. I think King Charles & Queen Camilla are doing a great job & the Waleses are so busy with their favourite charities.
William is professional, to a degree, but he can go from a Prince, to a caring man in an instant. No matter what he's doing, he will go out if his way, for older people or children. He's just a really, good man, the best of both parents.
Oh Shauna that story about Anne Glenconner and Barbara Barnes made me cry. We cannot give up on humanity, there are still many good souls in the world.❤❤
When my 18-month old grandson, Harry (who is lovely and nothing like PH), has a drink of water in his high chair, he always says, “cheers” and wants to touch his cup to your glass and he loves it! I always then say, “sip”! You’ve got to start them young!
I was in Barcelona some years ago and I saw two purse snatchings in two days. It is a beautiful city, but you have to take care with your valuables. Much love to Prince William for all he does for the homeless. And a speedy recovery to Princess Catherine.
I agree the incident in Barcelona was horrible and would almost certainly ruin those people’s holidays. It is not the fault of the tourists. It is the fault of the people who sell the holidays and their houses for rental and make all the money.
dutchgram3799 0 seconds ago That was not only rude but stupid! Take the situation up with the powers that be and go prepared with actual facts, why you want things better controlled etc. You have now put it out there that Barcelona isn't worth visiting because of lack of maturity in the participants in this event. There are so many places in this world that people can travel to and enjoy. Think of all the other businesses that are making g a living from tourism. HELP FIND A SOLUTION !
Tourism brings a lot money to a city, especially Barcelona as it’s loaded with history, charm and delicious food. It’s like cutting off your nose to spite your face to ruin tourism in your city.
It's happening in lots of places around the world at the moment. My son and d-i-l are going to Japan in October, and there are lots of places and areas that have been closed to tourists. Sometimes because of overcrowding, but also the locals are fed up with some of the rude behavior of tourists - eg physically grabbing Geisha to demand photo ops, and trespassing on sacred sites.
I have been loving him since his birth... Love him more after his marriage to Catherine... Increased over the years after the birth of George, Charlotte and Louis... 🫶😍 Prayers to Catherine for her speedy recovery to heal herself physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally healthy and strong again ASAP on her terms, conditions and abilities ... 🤲🤲🤲
The story about Barbra Barnes was so pure and deeply moving. I got goose bumps. Thank you Shauna! And I absolutely agree that H was born angry. It happens in every species. Sometimes it's just how it is, and no matter what you try, it never changes. 😢
Diana saw the close relationship between Barbara Barnes and her children, was jealous, and fired Barbara. Anne Glenconnor saw the close relationship between Barbara Barnes and her children, was jealous, but appreciated what Barbara did for her children and her family.
A scary story (sort of!). Many years ago some friends of mine were looking after the in-laws' pub for the weekend. After closing time on their first night they were having a quiet drink and congratualting themselves on having got through without any problems. Suddenly they heard a rather eerie wailing noise coming from the end of the corridor behind the bar. This was followed by a strange 'splooshing' noise. They went through the 'Did you hear that?' dialogue and tried to decide whether they needed to investigate. A minute later there was an even louder eerie wail followed by another 'sploosh'. They knew there was no one else in the pub which was a very old building in a very old village so they were getting really spooked out. Then it was a case of 'You go and look' 'No you go and look'. Eventually they went down the old dimly lit corridor together and traced the sound to the Ladies toilet. On opening the door they discovered the pub kitten who had fallen into the toilet bowl and was desperately trying to get out.
Shauna, I agree with you about Hannah. Her rendition of “God Save the King” was spellbinding! I’m an American who loves most things British, and this beautiful piece went to the top of my list! 🌷
@@lisamcg93 Hannah Waddingham is part of the cast of Ted Lasso. I am always impressed by the way she carries herself with such a regal presence. It didn't surprise me to hear that she was a trained singer. Not only is she a fine actress, but she seems to be a genuinely nice person, as well.
Shauna, I’m one of 10. My Mom cooked fried chicken often. She just rolled the chicken in flour, seasoned with salt and pepper and always pan fried it in cast iron skillets in lard or crisco. It was sooooo good! She cooked from scratch. SIP ☕️
My Mama soaked her chicken in buttermilk overnight. She then only used salt, pepper, and flour. She used a black cast iron skillet with either bacon grease or lard. It was so good! Thanks for the memories!
Years ago, when I was poor and unmarried, I liked to treat myself once a month to apple pie at a restaurant near where I worked. One day I encountered a ball of hair right in the middle. I stopped eating and paid for it and left. Next month when I went to the restaurant and sat down I was immediately treated to an extra large piece of apple pie and a stern look from the staff who said “why didn’t you tell us?” Not everyone objects to reports on the food.
Too true. And sometimes people just have a bad day. If a meal or an item is actually poorly done, I do send it back - the important thing is to do it in a calm manner and not get either emotional or demanding. If something is not good, but maybe that's a matter of taste, I do sometimes set it off to the side but I don't request anything in replacement or ask for my money back or anything. I find that good places are concerned when you taste an item and just set it aside. That leaves the choice up to them of what kind of customer service they choose to provide. But if something is wrong - the restaurant can't fix what it doesn't know about. And in general, health departments are DEEPLY unsympathetic about places mucking with food quality. I won't say it never happens, but it's a really high-risk piece of trashy behavior. No place can or will condone that behavior.
@@heidifogelberg3544 I was just too young and naive to know what I could do or ask for. The staff educated me. I wouldn’t like to work in an uncaring place so I understood.
Is Daniela Elsner really pro Meghan with such a comment? Is it more like she is setting Meghan up to be ridiculed by saying that she is always chic. More like taking the ....
Some politician today sworn loyalty to the king at the house of commons and he said until the day there was a republican, he would be loyal to the king till then. How very silly. Be gutsy and not serve the king at all. I can’t imagine not having the royal family and have people like Johnson, truss and Sunak being head of state. The royal family is the only brand that the world still respect in the uk. Without them, the lands and resources will soon sell to rich people from Asia and Middle East, there will be no commonwealth to support each other. Sometimes the modern world is so dull and boring.
Great video and completely agree with you regarding the merits of a Constitutional Monarchy. The transition from one party and PM to another is almost elegant and creates decorum in what can otherwise be a nasty world of politics. As a 🇨🇦proud to be part of the British Commonwealth. God Save the King.
70 years ago i worked as a telephonist at a travel agent. I mastered 5 lines and 25 extensions. My boss got very cross with me because all the extensions would ring simultaneously and he thought I was messing about. Then one day i wasn't at for a couple of hours as I had an appointment. And in my abscence the same thing would happen, all the phones would ring at the same time. Finally, finally they traced the fault to an electrical cable running down the pipe leading to the toilet tank. So every time someone flushed it sent an electrical impulse to the switchboard and all the phones rang. My boss very graciously apologized. He was 40 then and i thought he was such an old man. How time flies.
About a decade or so ago, renovations were made to the ground floor of a library I worked at. As well as a large staff only work area, it included updating the staff kitchen and dining area as well as upgrades to both male and female bathroom facilities. Not long after all work was completed, one quadrant of this area regularly blacked out completely (lights, computers - everything!) Well, of course I got the blame because I had a small fan heater under my desk. It was soon banished to home. However the problem continued. To cut an already long story short - it was the new hand dryer in the men’s toilets! Every time one of the men used the hand dryer, it cut out all electricity in that quadrant … took them months to figure it out! 😂😂
My hairdresser of the last 22 years always serves a proper coffee in fine bone china with artisan biscuits or slice and even a glass of bubbles at Christmas...😎 love it!!
I loved the story of the baby in the crib being watched over by its grandmother. My father passed away when I was 24. My youngest daughter was 14 months old. A few days after the funeral I was changing her diaper while she was laying on the change table. She looked up and over to the corner of the room and said: “Gampa”. She had never said his name before and I remember spinning around to look at the corner. Of course, I didn’t see him. And, as for hoping your Dad watches over you, I hoped the same. Then one morning I was in the shower and remember saying out loud, “you better not be watching now, Dad!”. Love your shows and wish you a lovely day.
Wow - I watched Hannah Waddingham's performance. Goosebumps!! As much as I hate the reason for it, I think William really benefit for his own time in the spotlight without Catherine. We loved him before that but I think he has really come into his own in the last few months.
Hi Shauna, I once had a neighbour who was a jazz musician. I could hear the sound of his band's music practice emanating from his home. On one occasion the band was auditioning various singers for a place in the band. I heard the most fantastically beautiful voice at the end of their session. Later I ran into my neighbour I raved about the singer and told him that he absolutely HAD to hire that last singer. Apparently the last singer was a recording they were playing. The singer was Ella Fitzgerald 😂 Best wishes 💖
Those of us who are older still make it the way our mothers and grandmothers did. (I'm Southern and 77 now) Batter is not traditional. We put flour seasoned with salt and pepper in a paper bag & shake damp chicken pieces in the bag to lightly coat them. Then fry. No goopy clumpy coating. No extra seasonings. Just good lightly crisped chicken.
My mother would put the chicken in egg and then coat it with the flour. I remember when my Mom would singe the pin feathers. I’m 69 and from Upstate NY.
As a Southern grandmother I concur (I soak my pieces in buttermilk w seasonings, drip dry and proceed w the seasoned flour. I let mine sit for about 15 minutes after that to seize up) ❤
As a girl raised in the Southern US, my sisters and I all knew how to make fried chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread and biscuits, all from scratch, before we left home for college.
She is an amazingly talented woman! I hadn’t heard of her prior to the “Ted Lasso” series, but became a big fan almost instantly. A beautiful voice & wonderful actor!
William is real-that’s what people are drawn to❤. As for James cordon-well his show was cancelled in US bc of his attitude …so it is no surprise he wd treat his audience with the contempt that he did and don’t feel sorry for the audience -if they have any knowledge about him-and still went to see him-that’s on them. I have empathy for people who choose to be around people like that.
Good morning from the USA. I like fried chicken every now and then, but do have to watch my waist. When we visited the UK my husband found anywhere he could get true fish and chips.😅
Riding in the wrong car happened to me a few months ago. White SUV, looked exactly the same as ours but I was so glued to my phone that I just opened the door and as I entered, realized the difference and I quickly closed the door and screamed for my husband’s name like a lunatic. My husband and kids were laughing about it the whole time as we were driving home 😅
Friends of my sister tended to change cars often, usually old beaters. One day the dad was due to pick up their teenage daughter after school. She saw an old car pull up, got in, and without really looking, said "well, what piece of sh*t are we driving now", looked over...and it wasn't her dad. She started screaming and ran back into the school, with the poor man running after her and yelling "I didn't do anything!".
Re the glasses screws story. Many years ago when we had several days in hospital after giving birth half a dozen of us new mums where tentatively sitting on pillows around the meal table when the nurse serving us asked “would anyone like stuffing?” Stunned silence followed by one of us saying “not bloody likely” I can still remember the pain of trying not to laugh too much, it hurt!!
I'm southern and a very good southern cook. The best fried chicken is simple - not all that breading, double dipping. Put flour, pepper and salt into a brown lunch bag then put a few chicken pieces in and shake. After all the chicken is floured, heat oil to 350° in an iron skillet and fry. You want a nice gold color but slowly cook til juicy and done. My mama made it every other Sunday, I made it often when my kids were young. I serve with homemade buttermilk biscuits, mashed potatoes, cream gravy, a vegetable and sliced tomatoes. Dessert is peach cobbler or banana pudding. Typical delicious southern Sunday dinner 😊
My Southern grandmother would go outside on the farm, catch a chicken and fry it up and have on the table for lunch within an hour. With a side of okra rolled in cornmeal and fried.
I believe it was one of the Twins that said it first. Maybe it was on X. But I'd put money down on the Sidley girls. I'd go back to find it but I can hear and see the one twin say it on a live. Happy Thursday! Just keeping which twin to myself. I have twin sisters so YKIYK. 😉
@@roserozainah7630 ok that makes sense. The twins are friends. It was Stephanie that said it when I heard it. Relatively close to when it started. What picture was that over? But very appropriate. 😉
I have to confess I get the sentiment - very much so! ❤ - but I cringe when I see it. It seems so juvenile and diminishing for a great man in his ascendancy.
I paused your video and watched Hannah Waddingham sing the anthem and my goodness - I like her as an actress but had no idea she had that kind of a voice. Wonderful.
Hi Shauna-Greetings from southern USA! I am approaching 69 yrs of age and got a good chuckle from your reaction to Chris Evert being almost 70. You are so right about not feeling as old as you are. I mentally feel I’m still in my 20’s and when I catch a glimpse of my reflection when walking past a window, I get such a shock, I practically need smelling salts! Love your Wednesday night chats😊! Nancy F.
Hi Shauna A comment made by a lovely who strolled through where the army Veterinary Corp kept their horses reminded me of my late dad. He was sent to England in 1933 to attend the Royal Veterinary college in London as we didn't have a vet school in NZ at the time. He completed his degree and did post graduate work at a practice in the same area as James Herriot. When war broke out he couldn't get home to join the Nz army so joined the British army in the Veterinary Corp and went to Africa and Middle East. I am very proud of him and that he didn't get back to NZ until 1947. He also competed for the British Army in show jumping. The men like my father are the true heroes not snotty little princes or his "no better than she should be" wife a saying my grandmother used to describe undesirable women. Love your gossip before bed
William is a study in ‘authentic’. He is the definition of the buzzword that Rach keeps spewing but doesn’t know how to embody. Rach is the antithesis of Prince William.
@@Rosie19701Apparently Diana used to call him that. "Diana dubbed Harry GKH (Good King Harry) because she thought he would have been better equipped for the role as a future king. It was also used to make Harry feel that extra special."
I'm so pleased the world is catching on to how amazing William is. If you choose to write a book about their PR nonsense I'll read it or if you do a podcast I'll watch it.
Anne Glenconner has lived a truly remarkable life. She is made of steel on the inside. Any one of the many tragedies she faced would have ruined many women (and men, too). But she just kept going. I’m in awe of people like that. I truly wish I had that intestinal fortitude. I really do but I haven’t managed it thus far, to my shame.
I know what you mean about still feeling 17 Shauna. I'm going on 75 and feel that way too - not so much physically these days but mentally. You only get old on the outside but stay just as you ever were on the inside. 😀
It’s interesting to hear that it was observed that Harry was born angry….i have long observed that Harry may suffer from foetal alcohol syndrome…eyes too close together…strange bridge of the nose…short filtrum … lack of empathy…personality problems..holding grudges and inability to learn…either from mistakes or from teaching….remember that 40 years ago this damage in babies was not recognised…and Diana was very unhappy during her pregnancy with him..and probably just had a few social glasses every day…to get through…as a social worker I saw many children of alcoholics (not to say Diana was a recognised alcoholic) ..unable to make good relationships with either foster carers or adopters…the damage is permanent. Now I merely make this observation…it is not a diagnosis…but very odd that he cannot see what we all see in his rampant and unkind lifelong jealousy of his brother…I think that the RF have worked hard to protect him in the past…but now he only has the wife.
If you are basing that diagnosis on H's eyes and nose bridge then you'll have to include KC3 in it also, as he very clearly has the exact same eye/nosebridge arrangement, and both of them probably get it from Prince Philip, because if you look at Philip's uncle Louis Mountbatten, he has it too... Diana was famously anorexic and then bulimic before and during her pregnancy with H, so I doubt she'd have been drinking, but she certainly didn't do her developing foetus any favours, presumably.
@lizmacrae4970 Apparently Diana wasn’t a drinker, but she was bulimic before and during Harry’s pregnancy. Harry’s eyes are close together but so are Charles.
Even if Diana was not a serious drinker, bulimia would not only result in poor nutrition getting to the baby, but the effect of anything she did drink would have been increased. Add to that having the worst of the Spencer genes, Harry had to be negatively affected.IMO @dominaevillae28
Diana was known to dislike alcoholic drinks. She and Charles were on tour in Germany once and while Charles enjoyed his beer Diana only managed one polite sip.
Just listened to Hannah Waddingham singing God Save The King. Perfection. I love you because yo are always sending us off in different directions. Thank you!
