In fact I’m pretty confident that if you were to tally up all the episodes in which pb has any active influence over the plot (not passive, like being kidnapped or possessed or anything where she has no agency in it) that the number of times she plays a protagonist role outweighs the times she plays an antagonistic role

It's a flaw I've seen through many other so-called "genius" characters in media. They think that just because they're "they smartest person in the room," their intellect gives them the right to do whatever they please (ex. shame people's religious beliefs, experiment on people, make the lives of others harder etc.) and Bubblegum is no exception. Ever since she got turned back into her older self, after almost dying due to the Lich, PB had become an absolute mess of a character. She spies on EVERYBODY in Ooo (Big Brother style,) she insults the practice of magic despite so much evidence proving her own beliefs wrong, she caused a zombie apocalypse on TWO separate yet equal occasions, she's manipulated Finn and Jake many times over and she doesn't give a flip-flop about the fact that many of her people (her own creations, I might add) openly hate her

Fun Fact: There is a Japanese short horror comic where a woman hiked up a mountain in search for a mythical vending machine that sells babies in a can (yes, rlly), because she want to be a mom. She found the machine and bought a loving baby boy for herself just as the caretaker of the vending machine, a forest fairy, appears to restock the machine. The mother asks why the machine was hidden in such a remote place and the fairy explains that it's to test the will of any would-be parents who want to buy from the machine. The fairy congrats the new mother and proceeds to restock the machine....in an absolutely terrifying way. She took out all the "expired" cans and stomped them, one-by-one, with the babies still alive and crying inside. The horrified mother asks what the fairy is doing, and the fairy coldly replied she can't have unwanted babies up for sale because it's bad for business. All the cans should be fresh. The mother tearfully leaves with her new son while saying "I'm sorry...I'm sorry" as she try her best to ignore the cry for help coming from the expired babies.... The reason I retold this whole story is because Princess Bubblegum's actions remind me of this short story, and that story is MEANT to be horrifying! It's a HORROR story! Meanwhile, PB do atrocities on the same level as that forest fairy, but it's played for comedy....

It’s just our main cast are the ones who didn’t get hurt directly, or someone like Marceline, who is just too old to care, much like PB herself. @An_Entire_Lime 8 месяцев назад
@@Huhu0137 I'm not talking about us seeing her good side more often, although that is true, my point mostly stems from the fact that in the odd times where her bad actions ARE explicitly shown to the rest of the main cast they generally don't really care, and when they do it's way less than they probably should. I mean the biggest negative reaction I can remember is from Flame Princess which was still severely lesser than it probably should since the war crime in question was a direct threat to her entire people. I do know there are characters that do dislike her for it, but I was mostly referring to the main cast when writing this And how their opinion of her generally doesn't change when they find out she commits a war crime every 2 days. Not that the entire show just collectively never acknowledged how messed up she was ever I really should have made that distinction very clear but the whole idea of this comment was made in a tired haze so I guess I forgot I'm also not saying that they are "downplaying" her bad side, they play it completely straight, her evil deeds are very much on screen at the front and center. It's exactly the fact that the viewer is so aware of how bad she is that makes the character's lack of reaction so good, which I want to believe was intentional.

Personally, PB's character would be more tolerable to sit though if they portrayed her as an anti-villain. I like the idea (I repeat, the idea) of a ruthless tyrant leader who commits atrocities to protect her people and anyone he/she cares about. I would be on board if PB acts more like Sylvanas from World of Warcraft and that playable Sith Lord from Star Wars: The Old Republic. But my biggest problem is the show including PB herself tried to convince me that she's a good person but after all the terrible things that you mentioned, I don't buy it. Action speaks louder than words no matter how good her intentions are.

Also a bunch of politicians were okay with getting a lot Hawaiian people killed in a fire by not sounding the alarm by lying they don't a siren for fires, turning off the water and blocking the highway to escape. The fact that you brought up real life criminals in a social climate where criminals basically get away with robbing stores and creating food deserts plus the raising crimes over the years pisses me off. @@JLacay Except Asgore wasn’t a tyrant who didn’t establish a police state, even his citizens complained he was actually too nice or too much of a pushover despite being their ruler. He did his heinous acts due to irrationality caused by the death of his children and his wife leaving him (Toriel should definitely be partly blamed for Asgore’s decisions, she left him when he needed her most, and only made his mindset worse). He was suicidal and depressed both by what happened to him, and the heinous acts he made. He heavily regretted his actions the moment he made them. PB didn’t regret shit until she lost her kingdom, everything she did was premeditated, with a clear mind and clear goal. Asgore was broken, PB was not, she made those decisions with a healthy mind, and still made horrible acts regardless. It’s fair to compare the both, but Asgore is definitely more in the right than PB. Asgore was also never salty about his breakup with his wife, and was always civil and respectful to Toriel even when Toriel badmouthed him, PB called Marcy Monster Trash once and always turned toxic when she couldn’t control Marcy, keeping that saltines until the two reconciled. Granted, PB isn’t like that anymore (somewhat) and she definitely is a much better romantic partner and person, she has grown, but what she was, is much worse than what Asgore was at his worst.
@JLacay
@JLacay 8 месяцев назад
While I do agree with that, but I don’t see how she was controlling over Marcy and was toxic to her when she called her monster trash. PB loved her the way she is, especially that Marcy always drags to go on adventures with her or just hang out. So I don’t see how she was controlling. I also don’t understand how she was toxic when PB was in a lot of pressure to contain Larvo back in the Glass Kingdom. Marceline wasn’t helping much and suggested that they should leave to die because they are glass and they will break eventually. What she said to her was wrong, but it doesn’t excuse Marcy to be a dick
@baron6588
@baron6588 8 месяцев назад
@JLacay Yeah Marcy should be blamed too for their breakup incident, but I’m talking their in general ex-relationship that was hinted at throughout the series before they got together, it was pretty clear that PB was always infuriated by Marcy when she went wild and wasn’t able to be controlled, or if her logic didn’t fit her logic. Also being toxic doesn’t mean you don’t still love the person your being toxic too, that’s not how love works. It’s nuanced as hell especially having experienced a similar situation myself. PB very much cared for Marcy, but wanted Marcy to fit in her bubble because she cared for her. Her intentions weren’t ill at all, she thought she would be able to protect Marcy if she was in that bubble, able to keep both her job, her relationship, and her people all organized and effective doing so, but wanting your fellow special someone to conform to your needs is the first step to a toxic relationship. Every time Marcy went out of that bubble, she would get toxic because she cared, and it can lead to the crappy shit she said. Love can manifest the greatest words, and the worst words. It led to her work getting in the way of their relationship, where she dug herself too deep into it to which Marcy knowing by her breakup song, wasn’t a big fan to how crappy PB was ruling her kingdom. Though to be completely fair, Marcy was definitely not ready for a relationship by this point, way too much of a untreated PTSD pigbank, making her closed off, and is partly to blame for her being quite inconsiderate and just plain petty and immature at times, and considering PB while a genius had the emotional intelligence of a brick back then, she wasn’t fit at all to deal with her indirect baggage and personality problems due to that. You can tell breakup at the glass kingdom was a buildup of continues fights and silent bitterness as PB began ignoring Marcy constantly in their relationship due to diving too much into her work over everything I discussed, and of course Marcy was the one who would instigate it, but PB would make it worse by telling her off and insulting her, which you should NEVER DO. When I watched that, I immediately thought of a 100 ways where PB could have ended off that argument better even with emotions riled up, it pisses me off watching it. Marcy should be blamed too, but the breakup was ultimately in PB for creating the climate for it, being emotionally an idiot, and ending their argument off horribly that led to Marcy blast off into full “sing about my bottled up feelings” mode ending their relationship. Now that we understanding why the toxicity and insults thrown around in their relationship was there, does it justify it? Hell no, actions speak louder than words, and it very important you don’t act like dicks in your relationship and hurt the special other you love, being a dick in a relationship still means being a dick, Marcy was far from perfect, but she needed therapy, PB was just a straight up dick, despite her good intentions. Doesn’t mean they still didn’t love each other, if they didn’t, the relationship wouldn’t even exist in the first place, nor the toxicity too. You just need to find how and learn how your love won’t end up into insults and salt, to which Marcy and PB thankfully and eventually did.

I was so mad over the way the writers handled Uncle Gumbald; They tried to write him as irredeemable so PB was resolved of any & all wrong doing. If you take a step back however, you realise that PB created her family to fulfill specific roles & had no intention of letting them be their own people. In addition, her family inherited their personalities from PB when she created them, so the fact that they could turn on her the way they did somewhat reflects poorly on her I think. & lastly, she went ahead with Gumbald’s plans for the Candy Kingdom after not letting him do so & did nothing to help her relatives after they were candy-fied. She deprived UG of his dream & then fulfilled it herself. It’s so f***ed up. & ofc they just turn him back into a punch bowl after it seemed like they had reached an understanding. Like, “nope, Gumbald is just a bad guy. PB isn’t at fault at all & bares no responsibility in the slightest for the way things went down.”

I don't think when she creates someone they always 100% reflect on her. UG just turned out bad for some reason but Aunt Lolly and the cousin didn't. HE was going to use the dum dum juice on her first , in fact he is probably the one who made the thing, not her. She had to defend herself, and if someone tried to do that to you, your telling me you would honestly trust them again? Nah. We have never seen her turn on someone ever in the entire show so your excuse for him being evil is a stretch. Even in the end, she apologized and wanted him to be himself but he was still going to turn her into a mindless candy person. Some characters just are not redeemable. Pb in this case, truly isn't at fault.

@Kevin-jb2pv
@Kevin-jb2pv 8 месяцев назад
From PB's perspective: - She created her family, who then spent their time undermining her efforts to build her kingdom the way she envisioned and fighting with her - 2/3 of her family were poisoned with dumdum juice during a meeting where they were agreeing to conspire to do the same to her. - Her Uncle Gumbald tried to poison her with the dumdum juice, only to suffer the exact fate he was trying to inflict on her. - She began to question the wisdom of having other intelligent beings with ideas of their own around when she already had a clear vision of what she was trying to build. - She built her kingdom using much simpler-minded candy citizens who wouldn't argue with her (which is still very questionable, morally. Not really defending this, but we at least know WHY she did this, now) - Centuries later, her family are all "cured" and immediately begin plotting against her. Her cousin and aunt _STILL_ decide to join up with Gumbald, despite the fact that he was the person who outright betrayed them to their fate in the first place. - This would have indicated to PB that her family hated her more than the person who openly and remorselessly betrayed them, in the first place. - PB begins to build up her military after an attempt on Finn's life and an attempt to dumdum PB, herself by Fern and her family. - She still agrees to attempt a diplomatic solution by sending Finn and Jake to Gumbaldia (at their desperate request, sure, but she still agrees), despite her family committing the first open act of hostility against her and her friends. - Her family attempts ANOTHER act of "assassination" against her, which results in her closest, most trusted, most loyal, and extremely powerful advisor, confidant, and friend (Peppermint Butler) getting hit with the dumdum juice, instead. This essentially kills him. His personality, knowledge, and experiences are completely wiped from his memory, which basically kills the original version of Pepbut save for a ghostly apparition that occasionally haunts the new, younger version of himself. - May I remind you that using a diplomatic mission to attempt to assassinate your opponent is a BIG no-no when talking about international relations. MAJOR no-no on par with killing messengers/ envoys. It's a big "fuck you" that _CLEARLY_ indicates to everyone involved that they cannot be reasoned with, they cannot be trusted, and that they will not play by the rules. - Also, this results in Cousin Chicle ALSO getting caught in the crossfire, which neither Gumbald nor Aunt Lolly really seem to give a shit about. It is left unclear whether or not PB has any idea that this has happened, but Chicle was the one who put the dumdum juice on F & J in an attempt to take out PB, and so he kind of got what was coming to him, too. Chicle, TBH, feels pretty half-baked in the series, and the most we can really glean from his character is that he seems totally on board with Gumbald's bullshit. - She rallies her armies and meets Gumbald on the battlefield, and despite _EVERYTHING_ he's done up to this point and the _EXTREME_ risk that it poses to her, she _STILL_ makes one last attempt at finding a diplomatic solution. - She gets sucked into a dream world where she comes to the realization that, even though Gumbald has done extremely bad things to her, PB was also not completely in the right and did bad things to her family, too. - PB comes out of the dream feeling remorseful and attempts to sincerely apologize to her family. - Gumbald attempts to take advantage of PB's sincerity to assassinate her with dumdum juice, _AGAIN,_ but Aunt Lolly is now completely sick of Gumbald's shit and interferes, leading to Gumbald suffering the very fate he was about to inflict on PB (and probably herself, afterwards) - In the ending montage, PB and Aunt Lolly have reconciled. The only family member who remained "alive" in the end decided to repair her relationship with PB rather than continue her vendetta against her. Gumbald was treated as a bad person by the show because he _was_ a bad person. Yeah, Bubblegum was selfish when she was younger, but we have to remember that these were also pretty much the first real people she had ever had to interact with and clearly didn't have any social skills, whatsoever. She had no idea how to deal with other intelligent people and their own conflicting visions for how to do things. And, to be fair, Gumbald did the same shit she did to him. Gumbald decided to just chop down all the trees that the family had carefully planted and cultivated, and PB responded by flooding the little valley with butterscotch to create a lake. She was not the only one acting like a dick, and she was even shown trying to compromise, though it was made clear that her attempts were pretty weak. It's also not clear that PB _COULD_ have reverted the dumdum juice effects. If it was possible, then it certainly wasn't easy, because if she could do it then she almost certainly would have reverted the effects on Peppermint Butler. Even if she really is the heartless psychopath that so many RU-vidrs like to claim that she is, then she STILL would have made an antidote to the dumdum juice to be used on herself after Gumbald's repeated attempts to use it on PB, if it was possible. It took a colossal event to undo the dumdum juice effects on her family, and it was only due to a power that LSP had that _nobody_ in Ooo was aware she had until the finale of Elements. And, even if PB was aware that LSP may have anti-elemental powers, beforehand, she still did not seem to know that these powers would be able to undo the effects of the dumdum juice, because she was completely blindsided when her family turned back up. I think we assume too much about PB's abilities, which is weird because her "science" experiments fail miserably all the time.

It seems to me that the authors missed the opportunity to go deeper into this part of the character with PB. We've seen enough of her emotional moments and she's worried about her loved ones (Finn, Jake and Marcy). And that she herself doubts her actions, but she calms herself with the thought that she is doing this for the good, that sacrifices must be made. In season 10, we rather see more of PB at the end of her life, we didn't have a deep dive into her doubts and feelings and how she dealt with the consequences of her decisions and trying to fit in with others (Flame Princess). They would show us that she would have more trust in others and maybe a series dedicated to her reflection and looking back at her past and wondering about her future. We even saw in the finale that she was doing well with others including Phoebe. But we have not seen the complete failure of such a transition, only fragments. A missed opportunity in my opinion given that we have episodes dedicated to character analysis and the recent development of Simon in Fiona and Cake.

PB often times thinks that she's doing the right thing or is trying to solve a problem but is going about it the wrong way. and i can see why she calls on Finn and Jake to defend the kingdom. they're the only ones with the power and experience to do so with Finn having his swords and knowing how to use them and Jake being able to stretch and bend his body at will.

The whole thing with lemonhope, clinches it in my opinion, because she gaslighted that boy to hell and back, deliberately putting him through starvation and suffering, and probably some level of mind control, because those dreams were definitely neither natural nor the result of the magic bird just to try to make them into the puppet ruler, and when that failed, she forced lemongrab to come back to life and suffer more. Just because I wanted to do more real life Catan role-play, because most of the nations are ones she controls for her own amusement. It’s like yes she might like her kingdom, but only as much as someone likes a small poodle they adopted and make other people take care of.

The main problem with Princess Bubblegum is her mental health. She feels helpless and gets paranoid about things out of her control. It doesn't help that her kingdom and the entire world has been in danger, or that she almost died at the hands of the lich. People like Finn, Jake, and Marceline are the ones who help her overcome her faults. Most of her misdeeds happened when she was cutting herself off. Since she created the candy people and had to serve as a mother figure to them, it's often her responsibility to keep the kingdom running and make sure it's safe.

I don't think the show overlooks her horrible crimes but instead highlights something worse. That we often overlook our friends terrible actions because of nepotism. On top of it, she always gives off that sweet persona; right down to her pink coloration. The idea being that those who present themselves in a certain way can be overlooked for doing horrible things.

I think Princess Bubblegum is just a victim of "making stuff up along the way" from the writers basically bubblegum morality and character being whoever was in charge of writing the episode at the time. In the early show she has all shorts of portraits of herself and family that get explained and retconned so a lot of stuff was just made up as they went. I like AT but it really has a tendency to just flip flop on characters not being sure who they are. But still, I feel if they doubled down on Princess Bubblegum being evil I imagine it being a great way to end the series, and also put finn in a dilemma, does he fulfil the role of a hero serving the kingdom or keep ooo safe.

just now realised that princess bubblegum is basically rose quartz except she's still alive by the time of the show. both start out seeming completely innocent, friendly and almost perfect but as the show goes on we learn more about their dark past and their many crimes (pb is basically just all 4 diamonds at once except less evil and more apathetic) but ultimately they get better and have been getting better, even if we almost see their arc in reverse

Like come on, are you seriously telling me the one who can tolerate Pearl wasn't able to tolerate such a cute gem like Spinel? That's just lazy writing in my opinion. I still think Pink Diamond wasn't that bad. Because even though she made mistakes along the way, it isn't as bad as PB did. Definitely White Diamond is so much worse. But we can all agree that characters like this were wasted just because they're misunderstood women. I can understand Spinel's actions (not too much) but forgiving sociopaths, narcissists, dictators, genocides, and tyrants is just something I can't understand. I love these two shows a lot. PB is the most complex character in AT, next to Simon. As the series progress, you she her gradually changing and seeing the errors of her ways. Yes she has done bad things but as we saw in her origin episode, there is a?reason for her actions. She believes she is doing the right thing but gradually she slowly realises that her actions were corrupt. PB tried to become a better person later on and redeems herself in the end. I think the better term 4 PB is a complex person, not a Psychopath. There are layers to her character and every season we see a new layer.

While I understand this word has become so overused in the modern political scene that it’s basically meaningless now, PB’s actions check a lot of the boxes for a totalitarian fascist regime. “For the good of the kingdom/people/country” is textbook rhetoric that many modern historic dictators have used to justify unspeakable acts of cruelty and violence against minorities, other nations, and other citizens. It’s just so ironic how a well-liked character in a beloved kids show would almost be universally condemned as a cruel dictator by many countries, the UN, multiple human rights organizations and NGOs, and people around the world if she were a real head of state.

Love how you tried to call her a fascist in a definitional sense, explicitly not in a vague authoritarian insult sense, then went on to not do that. To be clear I think PB’s politics in how she handles her kingdom is bad. I think all monarchies are bad. She ain’t a fascist tho
@frimi8593
@frimi8593 8 месяцев назад
Umberto Eco’s 14 properties of fascist ideology are generally considered a good standard to judge by. 1: cult of tradition Seeing as there was no candy kingdom before her, there’s not much tradition to fall back on. That said, despite nearly every candy citizen probably being centuries old, there is shockingly little appeals to tradition in her characterization. While technically not on herself, i think it’s quite telling that her Fionna and Cake counterpart in the new show is explicitly contrasted against the specifically traditionalist peppermint butler counterpart 2: the rejection of modernism I feel like little argument needs to be made here. She’s like the most modernist character on the show. She’s literally a scientist/engineer/innovator. 3: the cult of action for action’s sake Maybe this could be argued for pb, but what it specifically is meant to refer to is being against the intellectual reflection of one’s actions. As demonstrated in this video, pb tends to try to self-justify and reassure herself that her reasons for doing things are correct. I think this alone means she does not promote action for action’s sake 4: Disagreement is treason I personally can’t think of an instance of this being reflected in the show. Her stance towards magic and wizardry is notable but she doesn’t treat disagreement on it as treasonous. I guess there was the time she arrayed tree trunks’ wedding but I think the idea behind that was literally a personal grudge against king of ooo and tree trunks, and not a matter of ideological treason. Still bad, not fascist tho. 5: fear of difference Generally in reference to xenophobia, racism, or other forms of bigotry. I don’t see much of this in pb at all with the sole exception of wizards, and honestly considering the principle of mms, it’s not unreasonable to distrust wizards in general even if there are many instances of more sane wizards. We even see wizards that are able to function in her kingdom, like her literal right hand peppermint butler, and also huntress wizard that one time on Finn’s birthday. 6: Appeal to a frustrated middle class This is not applicable to adventure time since although there is commerce in the candy kingdom, there really aren’t shown to be economic classes 7: Obsession with a plot In reference to a perceived enemy plot, such as the n*zis (yt doesn’t like that word) treating Jewish people as monolithic conspirators. PB is generally very pragmatic in approach and she pretty much never put out propaganda about an enemy plot among her people until gumbald was raising arms against her, for which I think for the point to count your perceived enemy can’t actually be plotting against you 8: “at the same time strong and too weak” Another in reference to a perceived enemy to the nation, of which there was none until gumbaldia. Gumbaldia was only ever treated as a threat. There was no presentation of them as weak by pb 9: Nation in unending conflict The candy kingdom has existed under pb through centuries worth of peacetime 10: contempt for the weak Many of the candy citizens are literally incapable of surviving out on their own without pb providing for them. The majority of the candy citizens are dependent on her. This is frequently cited as a manipulation tactic of pb, intentionally handicapping her own citizens so they have no other choice but to follow her, but in this instance it’s a point in her favor. She is repeatedly demonstrated to be compassionate towards her civilian citizens despite her authoritarian tendencies. Hell, even the killing of the rattle balls is a point against this, as they were deemed too violent, unlike the banana guards. Essentially she didn’t like them for being “not weak enough” 11: cult of death, or people are made to become self sacrificing hero’s This is the one point I think pb aligns with. I could very easily see Finn argued to embody Eco’s fascist hero for the candy kingdom, ready and willing to throw his life away in an instant for his nation. But considering how this experience is not universal across the citizens of the candy kingdom, and that she basically demonstrates the opposite on some other points, I don’t think this point with Finn alone is sufficient to say she’s a fascist 12: machismo This point is rooted deeply in the sexist tendencies of fascists, including the sexual objectification of women. I don’t think there’s any sexism or sexual abuse of any kind in the candy kingdom. And no I don’t think her “leading Finn on” counts; that’s stupid for multiple reasons I could get into in a reply if contested on 13: Selective populism As a monarch, pb doesn’t really need to demonstrate any populism, let alone the selective kind described by Eco. The only time I can think of that the people’s voice mattered was when they elected the king of ooo at which point pb, though reluctantly, gave up her position as princess 14: Newspeak While it would be funny to point to adventure time’s unique and totally mathematical, algebraic vocabulary as an instance of this, it’s clearly not; the weird slang of Ooo is totally universal and spans cultures

Even if she's done many heinous acts, I'm gonna play devil's advocate and defend some of her actions listed here, as well as some others that weren't: -PB had no vote over the Fire King's decision of what to do with her daughter, she only intervened the first time when Phoebe was outside of the fire kingdom. So no, she's not guilty of Phoebe's social deprivation. -Nothing to say about almost genociding the Fire Kingdom and the Rattleballs, that's actually horrendous. -Spying on the candy people (drawing the line at anybody else) makes sense as how little strength they have as people, to the point that being scared would cause them to explode, so I wouldn't condemn her taking care of her own citizens like that (she even had many episodes explaining why of this behaviour and even question herself about it after her stepping down.) -The Finn situation is silly to bring to the table, especially on the first seasons when Finn did many of those things because of him being a stubborn brat that also had a crush on her, and she DID tell him in numerous episodes she was not into him that way. -And also, she many times cared for Finn's safety, not letting Finn do particularly crazy or dumb things, getting dismissed by him in most cases, having to resort to another method to help him get through it or save it in any case. -I'm not taking seriously Ice King's "torture" as it's clearly stated to be something comical. -Despite not having sympathy for Tree Hoe, I'm not defending PB here either. Now: the ones not mentioned here that are also important: -No, she did not create the potion to turn Gumbald and company into mentally disabled candy people, this was Gumbald's creation that ended up backfiring. -No, she didn't use this potion for the rest of the candy people, as if that was the case, everyone on the kingdom would be affected by the elemental reset of LSP. -Lemongrab has little to no defense on the part of her negligence, it's ironic he was left alone while any other candy person wasn't, though I'm gonna defend many of the things she did regarding him, like creating him a twin brother as that was useful for Lemongrab's wellbeing until he got crazy, but even then it was that twin who allowed Lemonhope to get rid of both, making the frankensteined Lemongrab to finally feel in peace after The Mountain. -She might've given a hedonistic solution to Braco's love needs and worse: never explaining him why she wasn't going out with him until too late, but who could've guessed he'd resort to Peppermint's dark arts for it? And finally: -Many of the things she did were indeed bad, though the show never backed off showing that. Like how Phoebe confronted her after the whole core incident, how she was voted off by the King of Ooo and how she changed in a less subtle way after the Varmints episode when all of this snowballed into her. And yeah, managing a kingdom is hard, and I don't think many ppl understand how overwhelming that can be and what that lifestyle brings to you. She might not have had precisely a punishment for her heinous actions like other characters like Betty had, but I don't believe it was necessary. She became a better person in the end, and as well as doing bad, she did good on more occasions people give her credit.
