01:00:22 High angle shot of a small harbour - Portugal Cove in Canada. Various shots of people bidding the royal couple farewell as they leave on the ferry "Maneco". Children wave flags and the Royals shake hands with the local dignitaries.
01:00:53 L/S of plane arriving at Dorval Airport in Montreal. Various shots of Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh disembarking and crowds welcoming them. The Governor General Field-Marshal Alexander and Premier St. Laurent welcome the royal party. The Royal Canadian Air Force mount a guard of honour to welcome the Princess. Various shots of the display. The royal couple are driven in an open topped car. As they disembark and walk towards the royal train they stop and wave to the crowds who have been waiting in the rain.
01:02:27 Barbara - the female narrator - is invited to give "the feminine point of view". She takes over the narration from here and tells how the tour begins in Quebec. Various shots of the Royals being driven through crowd lined streets. Shots of crowds including C/U of smiling fans. Plains of Abraham - Princess reviews French Canadian troops.
01:03:13 Ottawa. Royal couple arrive on the train and are welcomed by the Governor General Viscount Alexander. Parliament Hill - Houses of Parliament and the Peace Tower - seen in L/S. Princess Elizabeth presents "Queen Mary's Carpet" to Canada on behalf of a group of the "Canadian Club Women". (The carpet had been sold in Canada to raise dollars for Britain.) The Queen makes a speech about the carpet and we see various C/Us of the Queen's handiwork. Toronto. The Royals arrive in a Royal Canadian Airforce Plane. Fly past by the Royal Air Force.
01:05:03 The Princess made a special request to visit Niagara Falls. Various shots of the Royals at the Falls. Windsor, Detroit - L/S of the harbour. The royals wave. Canadian Brownies gather in Windsor's Jackson Park to greet the royals. Flowers are presented to the Princess. M/S of group of girls in Brownie uniforms applauding. C/U of the Princess with bunch of flowers in her arms.
01:05:51 Winnipeg. Royals are driven through the crowded streets in a specially modified car. Due to the cold and rainy weather a special plastic hood had to be built for the car. Crowds are held back by men in military uniform. The royals visit the Manitoba Legislative building. The narrator explains how Canadian provinces are each self-governing. The narrator proclaims: "And if you think you are seeing a lot of Mounties, wait till we get to Regina!" Good shots of the R.C.M.P. on horseback parading through the streets. It is snowing. The Princess reviews a group of cub scouts.
01:06:47 Calgary. Royal train arrives in cold and snowy weather. Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) wears a warm fur coat. The Lieutenant Governor of Alberta and Cowboy Mayor Mackay welcome the royal party and take them to the Indian village where members of the five South Alberta tribes were in camp. M/S of the Princess and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh meeting men in full American Indian traditional dress (Canadian Indians?). "Mrs Chief Heavyside" brings gifts for the royal children. Male narrator says "You'll notice Barbara, that among some tribes the man does the talking." Various shots of traditional dancing by the Canadian Indians. Narrator jokes "One boy seems to be adding a boogie beat." A potted history of the famous Calgary Stampede was the highlight of the visit. At a stadium the Princess and Duke step out of a 90 year old stage coach once used by King Edward VII. The royals watch the "Stampede."
