How amazing and so painful as we watch a youthful Elizabeth walk into the palace while Margaret, in present days, bids farewell. Twenty years later Elizabeth rejoins her sister.....

Yes I cried watching this as when this was released I had just lost my grandmother. They dressed the present Margaret in a similar style my beautiful grandmother would have worn (obviously a bit more understated) but this still hit home my Nonie was of a similar age.

What I most loved about this scene was the throwback during the credits to Margaret and her father singing Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered from early season one, the last memory Margaret had of her and her father the night before he passed. Actually I think it was the same night just a few hours earlier. I think the playing of that song made this event even more sad for me.

Which is also why Margaret opted to break with Royal protocol and decided to be cremated- So there would be room for her to be interred with her father. After a life of so many rules and regulations diminishing her happiness, an exception was finally, poetically made for her in death.

They look an artistic license in this very final scene in a most tear-jerking manner. At first you would think, no way the two princesses stayed out all night, which slowly makes you realise that it is what Margaret might be dreaming of as she leaves the world behind. Bravo.

I’m glad they brought the Queen back into focus in the last few episodes. And I’m glad they gave Margaret her chance to shine and explicitly stated how much she meant to the Queen. I feel she is an often-overlooked character (as in real life). I think this was the best episode of the season.
