Princess Margaret discusses her funeral plans - The Crown Season 6 

That scene was so sad but beautiful. Margaret is facing her mortality while Elizabeth is still coming to terms with it. You can tell that they both loved each other, no matter what.

"Promise me that I will actually be dead when they close the coffin." I know it's a morbid sort of joke but it still made me chuckle.

Margaret was my favourite. She kept her humour until the end.

I saw her funeral procession by accident - just happened to be in Windsor that day, and walked up near the castle as people were gathering, so I stopped to pay my respects. The flowers looked beautiful, I hope she'd have been pleased.

Princess Margaret died a few days after the 50th anniversary of George VI's death- and reportedly her last words were 'Dear Papa!' I can't help but think he'd have been utterly heartbroken had he seen how she wound up. His nickname for her had been his 'Joy'!

I can’t believe Porchey died watching the news of 9/11. That does make him a casualty of 9/11 because the stress of it all broke his heart. It broke his heart. I loved Porchey, he made our Queen happy all the time and she herself even said that maybe she would’ve been happier marrying him instead of Phillip (in the show).

Princess Margaret was cremated to ensure that her remains could be accommodated in the small interment chamber of the King George VI Memorial Chapel. Because when the King George VI Memorial Chapel was built in the 1960s, there was only room for the coffins of George VI, the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip.

I definitely agree that this was the best episode of season 6.

That last comment "make sure I am dead before closing the coffin" gave me a bit of a chuckle as it mirrored the conversation I had with my mom before she died. She also made me promise to make sure she was actually dead and even though I knew she was gone I had to keep my promise so before the funeral director closed the coffin I put my fingers against a bump on her wrist and gave it a good squeeze. That bump had been on her wrist since I was a boy, she said it had something to do with arthritis, anyhow, anytime me or one of my brothers would touch or hit that lump she would bug out because it sent a shot of pain through her wrist. Since she didn't sit bolt upright with that squeeze on her wrist I knew she was for sure, for sure gone. LOL

It must have been so hard for the Queen dealing with the death of her sister and one month kater losing her mother. Rather impressive how the Queen could bear everything and yet living so many years. True determination.

It is so sad, Princess Margaret. Was In poor health in her final days. I wish she had gotten better and lived and been alongside her sister as a senior royal and been present at certain events

Princess Margaret was such a pistol. She'd been through emotional hell for so long, which turned into a physical one in her last years. And yet, through it all, she never lost her sense of humor. I would've loved to have met her. (12/23/2023)

What you missed is that the Queen has just learned of the death of "Porchie", Lord Porchester, later the Earl of Carnarvon, her racing manager.

😢😭😭😭😭 I literally shade tears. She knew she had no body to live in. Though her spirit was the very same Margaret we knew.

I first saw Lesley Manville back in the 1990's on television here in the U.S. She was in the Hercule Poirot mystery "Cards on the Table" portraying the rather icy Bridge player Mrs. Lorrimer. I never forgot Ms. Manville in that role and now that we have You Tube I've watched her scenes over and over ('...but I had no reason to want him out of the way", and "Mr. Poirot, you are forgetting yourself!") I'm a card player, too, so that made me enjoy Mrs. Lorrimer/Lesley Manville all the more! She has that wonderful mix of talent and presence. Now that we have "The Crown" I can enjoy and appreciate Ms. Manville's acting in a new role and I hope that in this country she will be far better known by many new fans.

I waited 6 seasons to see how they would have the Queen Mother react to Margaret’s passing. I feel robbed.

She was full of life. Its very sad she end like that 😔.

both were great, princess Margaret used to go to a restaurant in the Kings road chelsea and this particular restaurant had French bread made by my fathers bakery and one evening the restaurant had run out and they sent one of Margaret's protection detail to our shop to request some, how could we refuse even if the shop was closed and only the night bakers working lol

Margaret died only a month before Queen Mum. 😞

This episode was my favorite in season 6!!! Very moving!!!

This is the heaviest episode for me next to Diana's death. She deserves better😢

I know it's only fiction and it's a sad scene, but I wish I had people in my life with this kind of humour. I love it and it makes it easier to cope with the negative aspects of life. We lack this kind of humour in Germany, unfortunately.

She was a right wit to the end old party girl Margaret. At least she had fun on this earth after she was refused to marry the love of her life.

The morbid joke at 2:08! Despite my mild fear of being buried alive that joke had me laughing the first time I heard it! 😅

Too bad Vanessa and Helena did not appear as Margaret's conscience in this episode, just like Claire and Olivia appeared as Elizabeth's conscience in the series finale.

When I saw the Season 6 trailers I knew in my gut it’s going to be a sad season.

When the qeens says don't you dare You can hear the pain ìn her voice Also think Queens mother died of a broken heart

Sources say that Margaret was the reason Elizabeth allowed Harry and Meghan to be together and let them exit the family.

The last 5 episodes were all so sad

Elizabeth inherited mummy's longevity, Margartet mummy's alcoholism.

These actresses do an admirable job, made a bit more challenging by having to follow the likes of Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman.

I always felt sorry for Princess Margaret!! I don't blame her sometimes if she came across as a bit of a bitch too some ppl sometimes!!

And not just dead drunk.

Best episode of an otherwise mostly boring season.
