this is probably the only mockumentary style show where having a documentary crew MAKES SENSE! it makes so much sense why ava would bring one to the school lmaoo
I also love that it’s not too reliant on talking head interviews and that it takes into account how much teachers actually would have to sit down in front of the camera. They do interviews sometimes just walking through the hall
In that line alone, you could tell that Jacob has went home and told Zach all about the crazy antics that she says and does that by the time he actually met her in person, he already knew who she was without a doubt.
she doesn't necessarily have to become nicer to show character development - i think she can stay who she is but just become more responsible, maybe in a more subtle or even invisible way - just doing small things the show doesn't focus on or the other characters don't notice that are actually helpful for the school, while still being "classic Ava" to everyone else
“So he knew you and was like… more!” 😭😭😭 everything about her character is full aid narcissistic & savage but you can’t help but to love it! Can’t wait for season 2
@@SuperPianogirl123 no its not u guys just bought into the idea that personality disorders are horrible and the people who have them are horrible instead of acknowledging that personality disorders are disorders people have(like anxiety, depression etc). TL:DR Personality disorders aren't bad. You're just ableist
Maybe because she's actually quite the realist and knows how to survive through sweet smarts. Her actions might seem bizarre but follow a very practical worldview
The writers don't go the extra mile to make her character funny or arrogant. This is who she is, she doesn't need to do something convoluted or have the greatest comedic timing for people to like her character, and I love it.
She had that one line where she said to Janine “Girl you know I just be talking you ain’t figure that out yet?” 😂. She’s incompetent at being a principle but she’s got street smarts and clap backs that can punch a hole through the earth. She has big sister energy, which can be useful for when dealing with kids that age.
While Ava’s character is of course exaggerated…having a new principal that is BAD at her job is unfortunately the reality for a lot of schools. I love this show for making fun of our terrible reality lol 😂
The two funniest / stand-out moments of the show: 1) Ava being shocked that students come to school at 7:30 every morning. 2) Ava not knowing what HR is. Janelle is a great comedian. They could not have chosen a better actor to portray Ava.
10:28 "Oh my god, what did he just say to you? That if you do well you're going to get fired?" "Worse. He mumbled and I didn't hear it." FAVORITE moment, especially with how genuinely worried she looked after he whispered to her
I think there's a good chance all of them will be nominated with the show having a full 20+ episodes. Wouldn't be surprised if the janitor pulled off a surprise nomination, tbh.
@@KNightRider504 even his character actually adds to the show Lmfaoo he gives good advice too. He told Gregory that sometimes a dream can be just as much of a distraction as it is a goal 😂 idk why that shocked me but I’m like wow that was pretty solid 😂
@@LeolaGlamour oh it’s for a reason he can leave those bills at the corny post office instead of bringing or doing what they did with ballots throw them away😂😂😂😂
2:10 Ava: We don't wanna get sticky do we?😏 Gregory: Ya'll getting this right?! Lord Ava is such a hot mess but I'm pretty sure that's the whole damn reason we love her anyway🤣
I had a coworker just like Ava, you either love her or hate her. There was no in between. I loved how her supervisor would steer clear of her. I was on the floor when he tried to avoid seeing her. 😂 😂😂
Janelle is a fucking PHENOMENAL comedic actor. Whenever I go back and watch her stand up I'm almost surprised that she's hilarious in ways that don't feel like Ava at all. But I can't get enough of this character! 😂😂😂
the fact that she is just so horrible as a principal kinda makes the show. I work in a school, so I find this show hilarious and at times relatable. Keep posting more content!!!
"Give me a chair" *Immediately falls out of it with laughter* *Stands up* *Hears something else that cracks her up* *Give me a fresh chair* Ava is already one of the funniest sitcom characters of all-time and it's only been 23 episodes. Terrific writing and terrific actress.
I love that Janelle James makes her role look effortless which is such a big up to the writing team/ Quinta. Every time Ava hits the scene I know I’m gonna be giggling. 1111
Ava was one of those characters that I did not appreciate at the start of the first episode, but who I fell in love with by the end of it. She's incredible and she knows it. I need that energy in my life.
She's not a good person but I do appreciate the small moments where we see her human side, like with her Grandma. Definitely one of the funniest characters!
@ 9:36 “I’ve done everything I possibly can to make my phone think I’m 22! I haven’t used capital letters in years!!” 😭😭😭😭
"Well you doing it well" "Do you want to get stickyyyy" "Who told you to send me email" "Can you twerk" "I usually have to show feet to go this viral." 🤣🤣🤣
I love this show so much and as a teacher, it’s honestly pretty damn accurate 😅 the least realistic thing is that Gregory, a man with zero experience in a school environment, would be any better of a principal than Ava
I actually have a question regarding that. Can you be a principal without any teacher experience? I thought you had to be a teacher for at least a few years before you could be principle like being promoted. That’s what I kept on asking myself throughout this show.
3:48 "Now, she can act. She couldn't do it, then I pulled out a dollar, and that little girl is Viola Davis"
Ava is absolutely terrible and I'm here for it. This show oddly reminds me of both The Office and Parks and Recreation. Not just the mockumentary style, but the characters, their dynamics, that warm feeling of watching something nice and comfy yet socially relevant and especially Ava who constantly reminds me of Kelly, Michael and Tom Haverford put together 🤣
