I'm Matt from Ireland and had double jaw surgery 5 days ago and both my jaws and nose are broken and held in place right now with screws and bolts.
Lol I also have a double fractured fibula but it came off of a freak accident. I live in Michigan so we don't get much vitamin d through the sun throughout the year. they put my in a boot with splints and I should be able to put wait on it in 2-3 weeks!!
Compound fracture of radius and ulna here, still in plaster after 6 weeks, 2 more to go before they xray again, problem is it was such a bad fracture I actually lost a piece of bone, hence why it is taking so long to heal. I've got 2 mecanno strips and 12 pins in my arm to align it all, I tell my 4 year old son I have a hand like Luke Skywalker in that scene at the end of Empire Strikes Back lol!
@VIPrinxape Depends on the type of bone. In adults (kids will recover faster): - cancellous/spongious (don't know if this is the right term in english) bones need 4-6 weeks. (like tibia-, calcaneus- and vertebrafractures) - small cortical bones (like ribs and metatarsalia) need 6 weeks. - large cortical bones (like humerus and femur) will recover in 10 - 16 weeks exact time depends on age, mobility, infection, quality of circulation and pathology (From Verhaar, Orthopedie (dutch book))

When i was sixteen i broke my hand, at the time i didn't know it, nearly a week had passed before the pain became unbearable so mom took me to the hospital. X-rays revealed a spiral fracture, the doctor taped my index and middle finger together forcing the fracture together, it healed properly. I can still feel the spot where it broke.
Amazing, I suppose alot of us here have broken bones, I broke 6 ribs after I overshot a skii bigjump in the alps. The adrenaline when I knew I was gonna die or just break eveyr bone in my body was so awesome though. The fall down

Most fractures heal clinically (meaning they are solid enough for normal activity) within about 6 weeks. But this varies widely. Factors include what bone is broken, where it is broken, how badly it is broken, bone quality, age, treatment, etc. And fractures can actually continue for remodel for years after they have clinically healed.

@@willmarvellous3767As a pedantic llama, I would change that from ‘heal to 8 weeks’, to ‘can heal in 8 weeks’. Not all breaks were created equally, so ‘in general’ is a useful term to add so as not to be wrong, in cases where bone union is delayed for various reasons. But what do I know? After all I’m just a Llama
i have a splint in the 5th metacarpal can i use the 3 fingers left and try to do a "normal" life or should I treat this as my whole arm was injured and not use my hand at all? tia

How much time lapse is acceptable between a fracture of ga d (shaft humerus) and surgery? Is waiting for your trusted doc for a day or two risky or should you get operated in 24 hrs max??
Do you have any advice for humerus fractures that have been repaired but still hurt 7 years later ??? I have a titanium plate in my left humerus and since the break I have had severe pain when working out, particularly triceps dips, lateral raises, chest flys and also I am unable to continue boxing. I broke my ankle in 3 places. I had surgery in which a plate and screws were placed. The Dr said my bones were so soft that he was afraid of breaking it more. My concern is my last blood test showed high Calcium before this happened. Do you think my parathyroid glands might be involved?
I jumped off a building because I was bored and was stuck in the building since I didn't have a key, and no internet was in the building so I had nothing to do which was going to drive me insane, so I did what I did last time, and climbed the wall to get out, but this time instead of dropping after haning from the ledge, I just jumped from the top, and that made all the difference. When I landed, I felt something crack but the pain was not so severe. I then have been limping ever since, and the right foot which got the damage is now bigger than the left because of swelling. It is a bother to slip on flip flops now. I used to love to run and jump, but now I may never do that again until the after-life. God can heal me, but he doesn't have to. He can make me suffer the consequences of my stupidity gambling with my life for the sake of not being bored for a day.
A RU-vid video I looked at said the body could use as much as 6,000cals/day healing a broken bone. Wondering how many cals/day to increase my dietary intake? In carbs/protein/fat? All advice appreciated. Cheers
So based on this video I could say that months and even years after the cast comes of the healing process is still in place and when a bone is slightly crooked it will be straighten by the remodeling process. What a releave :D
Yes, the healing process will continue. And yes, there is potential for remodeling. If the bone is too crooked it may not straighten out enough. A lot of effort and study has been put into determining how crooked is too crooked for different locations and different bones. Younger people, especially children, tend to remodel better than older people.
Okay and is it normal that a bone is slightly crooked about a year after the cast comes of? (My situation). I would really appreciate a response cause I'm looking for this info a pretty big amount of time and it will save me another one.

Fractured my 3rd metacarpal bone 5 days ago. A cast was placed next morning. Every few minutes i feem my hands get engorged the feels like it deflates after and the pressure is released. Is this mormal??

my finger is fractured, the doctor put a plaster for three weeks on it but it's the same after three weeks. The doctor told me that it's started fixing, but x-ray report is showing that it's the same as three weeks. Should I change the doctor? Can it be fixed again?
Story how I broke my collorbone: I was 10 years old, ( still am ) and I was swinging on the swings at a playground, I went to go jump off because I thought that was fun, so I swing really high, and jumped off all the way up there, I landed on my left shoulder, and I felt a really bad pain in my collorbone, so my dad came running over, and ofc I was in tears, so they took me to the doctor, and I was crying non stop every hour to a minute it hurt so bad, but the doctor said that I broke it, so she did everything so it can heal, and now I can't move my left shoulder a lot, and yes I still am wearing my cast
My fracture was bad and also I didnt go for the surgery then, so it hurts almost everyday. I hope your fracture isn't so bad and feel better ❤❤ and also don't forget to put your sling on for almost 3 to 4 weeks!!! ❤❤

How long do a clavicle fracture heal ? I broke mine 2 days ago. I'm turning 24, I don't smoke or drink. My weight is around 60kg. I'm not too slim , i have workout in a gym before but a year has passed since my last workout. Got my fracture in a motorcycle accident. The Doctor told me it doesnt need a surgery cuz the fracture didnt cause a wound on my skin. i have a small lump upwards tho. Any idea on how should I deal with this when I want a fast recovery?

Same here. Its been 5weeks.didnt healed yet. Dr will decide after 6weeks. I am nervous too. 1st 2weeks I didn't have any plaster. Last 3weeks I have been my plaster cast on.
Hi i fractured my 3rd toe with medium crack, do these heal with no problems or give problems down the road. Also if it heals does the bone become stronger or weaker thank you for your help.

D DOWG , keep the two fingers taped together so the broken one heals. It’s probably not healing fast because you’re constantly bending it. Broken bones need to be immobilized so they can grow back together.

Hi I broke my mid humerus 8 weeks ago and my last hospital visit was today and I was told that my bone is slightly more aligned but very little healing on the xrays. Less pain today but it still strikes me once in a while. Hands and wrist are working fine but forearm can move when I focus really hard. I've started little physio in week 6 and now my joints are starting to hurt. Doctor said that if my humerus doesn't heal within 3 weeks, I would need surgery. Is this normal? Will surgery make me feel a lot better? Will my hand and wrist stop functioning? I'm really scared...
I broke my femur but didn’t receive a cast because I had a rod put inside my bone. Happened 4 weeks ago, doctor is already talking about me going full weight.
@@DevanshRathore-zx7wo It feels just like before. I got 0% on my handicap test. Once you are able to go full bearing start trying to raise your leg gently while laying in bed. To retrain your mind to muscle connection. During that time i lost a little function and it took me a few days to start raising my leg again. I could hop and limp. But couldnt lift my leg while sitting or laying down.
@@DevanshRathore-zx7wo It was a "internal fixation". They drilled a hole at the top of the femur near the socket and slid the rod in. Putting screws towards the top and a few above my knee area. But man i dont even feel it.
I Broke My Hand On November 10,2018. I Had to get it set back so I had to wear two cast over 11 weeks. I currently my hand looks a bit crooked but it is just a callus my bone will hopefully return back to normal in two years. If Yiy currently have a broken bone don't worry have hope and we humans can adapt to bee thing.
I broke my arm 5 weeks before. Didn't healed yet. Dr said may be it needs surgery but 10%possibilities to get surgery. Hope I will heal with out surgery 🙏 lil bit frustrated.

Bleep, I broke my ankle bone in 2012, its now 2018 and it’s like it never happened . I’d say within a year of it breaking , it healed completely , like it never happened, no limp, no pain. The body is amazing.
Lots of ibuprofen! Takes at least a month for the pain to lessen. One website compared broken ribs or even just bruised ribs with kidney stones.. that’s how painful they are!
