Todays video is a chit chat type video about how I've been able to keep my fitness level a priority even while homeschooling my four kids. I have had to let some things go, and make some adjustments, but I feel like I have finally found a balance in both. Hoping this video helps or encourages you in some way! Let me know if you relate?

This channel has been such a relief and honestly an answered prayer. I am a first time homeschooling mom with a 3rd grader (also a 3 year old and 8 month old) and I also work and workout. I love knitting as therapy as well. I was running myself THIN trying to either a.) replicate public school (which some wonderful homeschooling moms said to STOP) and b.) fill our schedules with playdates, activities, errands, appointments to keep us all busy (which resulted in BURNOUT). I'm just now understand the concept of making it work FOR US and not comparing to others. I'm a big over-achiever and it's taken much humbleness to lay my desires down and trust in the Lord's timing. Thank you for making this channel. I cannot express my gratitude enough!

It's so helpful to hear how a fellow homeschool momma makes it work! Homeschooling is such a blessing, but definitely presents it's own set of challenges when you're trying to balance "all the things". 😊

I was homeschooled K-12 with my 3 siblings. As I go along on my own homeschool journey I appreciate my mom's hard work more and more. She's the hardest working person I know. 😊

A Beautiful Horizon so wonderful you were homeschooled! Thinking of high school aged homeschooling still spikes my anxiety! Your mama did an awesome job, since obviously you wanted to follow suit!

I needed to hear this - I do hold on to the ideal situation and if it’s not working, I choose to not workout at all. Very true that less than ideal, but still doing something is better than nothing. Thanks for saying the truth! It’s changed my perspective!

Exactly. To everything. Being flexible with the type of workout or time it’s done is key...I’d like to add, that if you’re the type that finds everything else to do except a workout...TRY working out early. Not fun, but sometimes it eliminates all the excuses that come up in our day!!

Thank you so much for this! Your thoughts were the kick in the pants I needed to not make excuses for why I miss a workout. I am SUCH a nicer mom when I move my body in some way each day, and I have to remember that I can always find 30 mins somewhere. Love your channel. Keep the great videos coming!

I use streaming in-home workouts, and it has been so much easier than lugging the kids to a gym for specific classes. Much cheaper, too!

Thanks for keeping it real as always! This resonated with me. Mine are 4 and soon to be 6 and this is our first year homeschooling. I try to hit the gym three times a week for a total body workout but there are some weeks where I only make it two times and that’s something I’ve learned to be flexible with. I have a hubby who works nights some during the week so he’s able to help me watch the kids and do some homeschool with them in the morning, which is so incredibly helpful!

Loved how practical this chat was! Your commitment to workout and care for yourself is super inspiring to me. Working out has always been super important and valuable to me but with a lot of struggles at the end of my pregnancy I wasn’t able to. Now being 6 months PP I’m SO looking forward to soon! I can’t wait to feel fit and strong again. 💪🏼 you’re an amazing mama! Thanks for sharing how you view and balance working out, Mom life and homeschool.❤️❤️❤️

I actually quit my job at the gym so that I could homeschool my two kids. I quickly realized I could have done both. I hardly ever make time to go to the gym now. I appreciate you making this video! It has inspired me to get my priorities in order. ❤️

I totally related to this video! I’m a homeschooling mama with 3 kids involved in quite a few activities and I still like making working out a priority. I agree, I’ve had to let the time of day I workout be flexible. I can’t workout for an hour and a half. I’ve chosen to workout at home versus at a gym because for us leaving the house one more time each day is too much. However, it gets done. Consistently for the last 10 years I’ve done some sort of fitness. Not perfectly, not always highly intense, but something. And I’m proud of that. And as the kids get older I’m able to get better at my goals and be even more consistent. Thanks for this post!

I loved this video! I so needed to be reminded of this balanced discipline. I am often that person that if I can’t fit it in when I want I won’t do it. Ugh! Mind of matter!!

Amen, amen, amen! I am so right in the middle of trying to figure out this for me. I started the year schooling my 3 kids 9am-12pm and then doing my workout after lunch, but then I prefer working out same time as you. So lately I've been pushing school back, until I'm done working out. Not too mention my husband gets a fitness stipend that we used last year for the rec center, so I'd love to utilize that as winter is coming for the kids as they have everything! But my daily schedule is just a wreck right now. I am definitely trying to embrace something is better than nothing, as well as learning to become a morning songbird. :) My top 3 priorities for my day are: quiet time, homeschool and workout. Anyway, I so feel ya on this video!

This is so good 😊 there is so much to juggle! But I agree, even a ten minute cardio session is better than nothing...if I wait for a big chunk of time to open up, I'd NEVER work out 🙄 I just have to fit it in, making it a priority! 😊

I loved this Ashlee!!!! This has so much truth when you’re busy or even if you’re just sick for a week or so. I’ve been sick these last two weeks and was so tempted to just do nothing but I knew I could and should do something. I didn’t exercise as many times as I wanted to these past few weeks and my workouts have been much less intense but I did them! I really wanted to just fall off the wagon for a few weeks but I didn’t. I did something and even though it wasn’t what I wanted to do, it’s better than nothing. Thanks so much for this video and your wisdom. It means so much to me and so many other women!

I am not athletic and have never worked out or exercised past 2-3 weeks of trying. Then I wouldn't see results and would lose insipiration. I know for my health though, I need to. You just sort of said, "Just do it!" Just make it a priority and that's that. Why don't I see results? Maybe I don't stick with it long enough? Maybe I don't use weights and that's what I need to do? Who knows? I have no experience. Good tough video. ty.

I love your advice and have had to do the same time over the years. About 5 years ago I was pretty fit and happy with myself, but I got a knee injury, which turned into hips problems and the Lord lead me to a Nucca chiropractic doctor a few months ago and I'm finding healing from my past injuries and he has given me to ok the work on core strengthening yay! Super excited about that. But I got to say I never remember my body being this weak and starting and all the way over is so hard. It's worst than post-baby workouts! I still have some strength in my core, but it like my body doesn't know how to move anymore and training it to move like it's should naturally after an injury is more difficult than I anticipated. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Ps when I was working out regularly I did it first thing in the morning at home in my living room before the house was stirring because if I didn't it wasn't going to happen. When my kids were babies I workout in the afternoon at nap time. I really miss working out! But I'm thankful to be able to walk again and nor be in as much pain!

Any home school mamas that get their workouts in at 5am? I have a toddler and nanny another, I feel like its just much easier to get it done before anyone wakes up. I hate working out at home too! It just doesn't get done.

Oh I'm with you about just getting it in. My body craves having those workouts. My kids are getting older and started asking to be home more. I really HATE working out at home. I feel so distracted and I don't get nearly as hard a workout. So our compromise has become, if they don't want to go to the gym, they have to leave me alone while I workout. No fighting, no questions, no distractions. I've let go of Saturdays a little. If I have the time, I love going to the gym and getting in a good workout, but if Saturdays are full of sports or kids just needing family time, I try to schedule in a family bike ride, or a walk with the kids, or going hiking. Trying to make fitness more of a lifestyle choice and not just in the gym. Listening to this sounds like you just got into my brain and said everything I've been thinking.
