I purchased two Priority 600's last fall for myself (19") and wife (17"). The first thing I changed out were the 650B x 50mm Goodyear County tires, which were too wide/tall for the mudguards to work without occasional rubbing. I tried several times to adjust the mudguards to prevent rubbing, but the slightest of road bumps would always cause them to rub again. I could only imagine the problems that would occur if anything were to get stuck between the mudguards and tire (mud/stones/twigs/etc.) When I installed 650B x 42mm Continental Contact Plus tires (on both bikes), that solved the issues with rubbing. The downside to the Continentals, is that they aren't tubeless. And diameter is a bit smaller. I added some Stan's tire sealant to the tubes (not simple/easy, but doable), and they all hold air pressure nicely. I'm experimenting with different tire pressure to get the best compromise of ride quality and performance. I really wish that Priority would have offered the 600 with a 700 wheel option, as there are many more tire styles/sizes available, than in 650B. However, my wife is short (5'), so the 650B wheels/tires are good for her. I'm 5' 9", so I wouldn't have problems with a larger wheel/tire. I also swapped in adjustable steering stems to raise the handlebars and move them rearward. My wife likes the flat bars, so she kept hers. I don't like flat bars, as they seem to put too much strain on my wrists. I swapped in sweptback bars on my bike. I also added a cheap suspension seat post (to mine), and different saddles to both. The bikes came with the headlamp mounted to the handlebar, which makes it difficult (if not impossible) to use a handlebar bag. After a lot of internet searching, I found a fork mount that would work (after some modification). I don't know why Priority switched the mounting location from the fork to the handlebar, as the earlier models had it mounted to the fork. Perhaps access to the selector buttons on the light was a consideration? Don't know, and I was unable to purchase that mount directly from Priority (I called). I like the Topeak bags for their quick mounts, and put them on both bikes. I also added a Topeak rear rack and bag to my bike. The wife didn't like it on her bike. All in all, the Priority 600 is a nice bike, although quite heavy. These replaced two Motobecane Cafe 8 bikes (we still own/ride them), which had Shimano Nexus 8 internal hubs. On the Priority's, most of the time, we are riding in 8th - 10th gear. 11th and 12th for those fast flats and downhills. Enough (probably too much) for now...

Never too much. That is excellent information! I ended up taking the front fender off my bike b/c of the rubbing issue. I will work on it again in the rainy season. I feel like there should be a 42mm by 650mm tire that is tubeless that will fit the bike. However, I have not re searched it at all. More stuff to do this rainy season! Thanks for sharing!

Appreciate your honest opinion. You hit it right on the nose. The Priority is indeed appealing for those who desire a pinion gearbox because of its low cost compared to other pion gearbox bicycle companies. Components can be upgraded as stated -- but I would be more concerned about frame and geometry for proper fit and comfort.

Biggest difference is the frame is boosted with thru axles allowing for bigger tires and rims. Also has a tapered headtube. It's probably a lighter frame, it's got a larger seatpost diameter which means thinner tubing. The 600x is a modern mountain bike where the 600 is a badass commuter. When you factor in the inverted wren fork, it's worth the extra g ball.

Those are all very good points. And I'm still considering buying a 600X. For many of the reasons you outlined above.

@@buckmanriver I just bought one and got $200 off. Not bad, haven't seen it on sale when I was looking at it for a couple months and I feel like the cost of everything is going to keep going up. Keep up the good videos

The other main difference is that the 600 comes with 650b wheels & the 600x comes with 29er wheels. I could be mistaken but I don’t think you can use 29 wheels with the 600. 🤷‍♂️

Buy them both. You will always have days when one is out of service, then ride the other one that day.

I agree with your opinion on the 600 over the 600X which l also chose. The 600X also had different frame geometry which l didn't think l needed and it's doubtful l will do any bikepacking either.

Thanks for the video. I’m trying. To decide this very question you posed. Are the frames the same? I thought the geometry was different but I don’t know that for a fact.

Shame Priority didn't speck the frame on the 600 with Thru, axles as they have done on the 600x.

Good point. The Front dyno hub on the 600 would need to be bigger if they did.

What is the maximum tire size? Can you put 29x2.8 or the 600 is just a commuter with skinny tires.

Hi there, you said you’re in SJ riding I was wondering if we can meet some where to take a look at your bike as I have never own a belt drive before. Just would love to see it before I spend that $$$$ on the bike. Please let me know. Thank you for making the video. I am guessing that you were on Quimby Road

He mentions Hicks Rd which is on the other side of the valley from Quimby and an equally tough climb especially if you climb all the way up Mt. Umunhum.

The 600 and 600x don't have the same frame. They are quite different. That's about all I know about them though. I want the 600x but am right between small and medium size. My inseam is 31.5 and I'm 5' 9" tall. I like a more upright riding position which is easier on my neck. It also places a lot less weight on my hands. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone in the Phoenix area that has a 600x in either small or medium that I can look at. I'd really like to see which fits me best....

I think the frame are nearly identical. What do you see is the biggest difference between the 600 and 600x frames?

@@buckmanriver It's been 11 months since you released this video so I have to ask If you still feel that they're nearly identical bike frames?

The 3 x remark sound like the title of a bad movie , but you are definitely right, buying a better fork I was thinking the same for my transcend E+ change the fork and tires so I could make it a gravel bike not just a commuter bike
