The Priority 600x is a bike I have been interested for about a year now after first hearing about it from a fellow RU-vidr @duzer I have watched his many adventures on the Priority 600x and found myself becoming very intrigued by this bike. You should definitely go check out the Duzer's channel, he's a wonderful human being! Well in this video my good friend Scott allows me to test ride his wife Nadine's Priority 600x at Malden Park here in Windsor, Ontario. Thanks Nadine and Scott!
From the research I had done and watching Duzer I had no doubt it would be a good bike but I was very impressed with how comfortable I felt on the bike. The bike feels very planted while trail riding and the drivetrain is super smooth and quiet.
So the goal now is to get this bike for 2023 so I am one with the bike by the time I start out on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR) in 2024. Please check out the links below to my support platforms if you would like to help me make the GDMBR a reality. Cheers
If you would like to support the channel it would be greatly appreciated and you can do so by checking out my Patreon Page here is the link. www.patreon.com/WanderingEye19?fan_landing=true

Once again RU-vid is taking forever to process the 4K version. It appears to be a problem for many RU-vid creators and there is nothing we can do about it except wait for RU-vid finish doing their thing. I hope you enjoy the video nonetheless. Cheers

I have had better luck with H.265 encoded 4K videos, if nothing else the size is a bit smaller so the upload time is faster. This is from DaVinci 18 on Windows. Thanks for the review, we have watched many VanDuzer videos and have wondered about the Priority Bikes.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures
@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore Thanks I'll try that out! So far by all accounts it's a pretty solid bike and my experience on it left me very impressed. Thanks for watching. Cheers

Whoa! For a second there I thought you got the bike!! Seems the partnership Duzer has with Priority as it’s the reason both you and I know the brand and the bike.

Love my 600x. A dropper post (which I got from Priority) was the only addition needed. I ride the trails in Dupont and Pisgah Forest in NC. I also have a 600 which if I am not mountain biking can handle almost any fire road and gravel that you run into.

Hi Mark. Yes what a great bike. Those are some pretty awesome places to ride a bike! Thanks for watching. Happy Holidays

Great choice Dean, I have been on the hunt for a replacement bike and the 600x is the top of the list, the one issue is cost especially the addition of delivery and taxes into Canada. The gates drive in my opinion is far far superior over chain and sprocket for long rides, pretty much zero maintenance and less chance of failures. Great news that you're getting a discount!! Bob...
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures
Hi Bob. Yes it would probably around $5000 cad after shipping but it is a solid bike and as I am sure you know that's not really that expensive in the world of bikes. I am going to be staying mainly in Ontario in 2023 to save for the GDMBR so we should try and put together a tour or two! Cheers

@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures Sounds like a great idea Dean, I failed miserably getting in any overnight rides this year but thankfully my calendar is much more flexible moving forward! I'm planning on getting out a few times in 2023, would be great to meet up. I'm sure there is an option to have a P600x delivered somewhere in the US and drive over to pick it up, that sounds like a good idea to me. Bob...

Before you go all in on the 600X you may want to consider the Priority 600. Based on the fact that you spend much of your time on pavement and rail trails, the 600X seems more suited for off road. The downside of the 600 is connection points on the front fork but I was able to securely mount a Tubis rack and Ortlieb panniers with no issues. Why the 600? Same Pinion gearing, lighter bike, and much less expensive. I’ve modified my 600 with a Jones H-bar and it is perfect for rail trails and chunky fire roads.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures
Solid advice. But after riding the 600x I am pretty confident this is the bike for me. The 600x will handle The Great Divide much better. Thanks for watching. Cheers
@petesig93
@petesig93 Год назад
I'd agree. I love the concept and greater off-track capacities of front suspension, but until there are good racks developed for low-mount panniers they are a poor choice for me. Vale the Tubus Swing front rack
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures
@@petesig93 I agree it is a problem for me as well. I will have to see what I can come up with for the set up of this bike. It will be fun to to do! Cheers

Great to see a very nicely designed bike with the Pinion C1.12 gearbox. Most of the bikes using this are really more of a commuter than a tourer or "adventure" bike. Love the design integration of the rear rack mounts, disc-brake and a great rear kickstand mount on the frame. As for the Gates carbon belt, I am still not convinced. It is not entirely maintenance free. A friend of mine had her belt squealing like a banshee in the dry, dusty trails of the Mawson Trail, and the solution was to drip some water on it. Hardly ideal when touring on dry, semi-desert lands, where water is precious, and the belt needs water every 10km. Also, carrying a spare belt is both expensive and bulky; it is FAR simpler to carry 4-8 spare links for a chain to cover any needs. Very rarely ever broken a chain BTW. I shall stick with my great chain and lubricant system.
@Brackers64
@Brackers64 Год назад
I have heard that wax or soap rubbed on the belt stops squeaks. As for an expensive belt I think they are only around $30 / $40 each when I was checking them out a while ago.
@swnorcraft7971
@swnorcraft7971 Год назад
Absolutely love my Gates Carbon Drive belt. The best solution for the squeaks when the belt gets dry and dusty is to rub a bar of soap on it. Easy enough to carry a motel size bar of soap and apply it maybe twice a day in dusty conditions...............

@@Brackers64 Gates CDN belts are about $30. The CDX belt, rated for wider temperature range, and supplied stock on the 600X is about $100. CDN and CDX are the same mechanically, so you could carry the cheaper CDN as a spare for the 600X.

ooh i cant wait, will you start the divide in Canada or down south? Either way i'm sure it'll be amazing. i think you are correct choosing the 600x for it, there are some long rough downhills on the divide. that granny gear will be nice for the very long uphills too.

@@GingerKid3500 it's heavy and no speed deamon, however, it's built like a tank. For me, the simplicity and practically zero maintenance outweigh the weight penalty. Also, the mental burden of potential derailers and chain issues helped me sleep better at night.

Hi Michael. Yes I am glad my buddy has one, actually him and his wife have them I rode her bike. I really liked it but to be honest the Trek 1120 is a awesome bike, it has a regular drivetrain but I have around 40 thousand kilometers on her and she's never given me any problems! You might want to take a look at the 1120. Cheers

Love the bike, but don't forget to budget an additional ~$1,400CDN for taxes and duty. Sadly Priority bikes aren't made in the US so they aren't exempt from duty - that's what knocked them off my list, for now at least. Can't wait to see your future adventures!

Did you find this to be an upright comfortable ride? I basically want a bike with an upright comfortable position, but still rugged enough to handle singletrack trails, most mountain bikes I have tried have to aggressive forward leaning geometry for me.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures
Yes I did. This isn't a mountain bike It,s a bikepacking bike so the geometry is designed around riding longer hours. But having a more upright riding position also depends on Stem length, handlebars etc. I will personally be using the Jones H Bars on mine. Cheers

In your opinion is the quality of just the bike itself (minus the pinion) worth the $3500 selling price?
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures 5 месяцев назад
Hello Marco. Really good question. i have to say probably not. The reviews on the inverted Wren fork are very mixed, the word is the small bump compliance is almost nonexistent and really that would be the only reason to have a 110mm travel fork. I would go rigid with proper mounting points. Also I am not a big fan of the brakes or rims. But having said all that I have not looked into what it wold cost to get a frame and Pinion drivetrain and do the build on your own. I am still interested in a bike with the Pinion and belt dive, but most likely it will not be the 600x. Thanks for the great question. Cheers
@flatheadfletch
@flatheadfletch Год назад
I think the 1120 is better for bikepacking. Derailer is more efficient The 600x is a great bike but it’s not the geometry that I needed and a Rohloff hub is more efficient than the pinion setup on the 600x. It’s going to be hard to leave an 1120 at home for the GDMBR to ride any other bike.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures
The difference in efficiency between the two is negligible. The Rohloff hub is good but the draw back is the amount of weight it puts on the back of your bike which is what in my opinion makes the pinion the more idea setup. The idea place for extra weight on any bike is low and centered. When I rode the 600x it felt like a normal bike which is what you want. As for the GDMBR I have decided I will be doing it on the 1120 next year! She hasn't let me down yet and it would be fun to see if I can get 100,000 kms on her before I kick the bucket lol.
