Hi, Steve. Sounds like you have a wonderful summer planned! I slipped off my cycling regimen since last October when my wife got me into playing pickleball, but I'm picking up more mileage and cycling frequency so that I can at least try 2 very doable rides this summer: Santa Barbara to L.A., and L.A. to San Diego. I don't want to kill myself, so I'd like to do both rides over 2 days.

Hi Beck and thanks for watching and your comment! When I get Old maybe buy a trike style e-bike for touring or just get on a cruise ship to nowhere. Ask me again in 20 years. Have a great day, Steve

Would those water bottle cages keep you from putting a rear rack and panniers on?
@steveretiredandcycling
@steveretiredandcycling Месяц назад
Hi Steve and thanks for the question. As you may see in my video series about riding the GAP and C&O trails, the water bottle cages don't interfere with my Ortlieb Gravel Pack panniers. Those panniers are a little smaller than the traditional large ones but have served me well. Thanks again and have a great day, Steve

My son and I are going to ride the Katy Trail. We both have the 600X. It will be our first bike packing experience. Working on buying gear to get the bikes set up. Just bought the same frame bag from Green Guru, have some Ortlieb paniers and just ordered a Revelate mountain stem bag. We rode RAGBRAI last year and saw Ryan Van Duzer several times. This bike is a beast. We both have been riding to work through out the winter. Living in Iowa you can have 60 degree temperature changes in the same week. Love your review of the bike and I also do not have any complaints.

Just before Ohio Pyle from Pittsburgh is a camp site with a shower, it's a BITCH to push your bike up the gravel trail to the camp ground, and you have to go all the way to the guard station to get a camp site. I don't recommend doing it, it's really hard especially with a loaded down bike, going back down is not fun either. FYI

I've heard about that climb to the campsite. I won't be staying there. Thanks again, Steve

This is another awesome video. My Priority 600X is also nearling 2000 miles and I'm very impressed just like you. I haven't had to replace anything yet! The drivetrain is working as it did when it came out of the box. I don't really have anything I dislike about the bike either. They really hit the mark on this one thats for sure. I look forward to seeing your upcoming summer tours. I'm also planning a bikepacking trip or two. Hopefully more but we'll see how things shake out. Thank you for sharing!

Ryan van Duzer has also been my inspiration. Looked at the cost if getting a Priority 600X shipped to Australia last year. They are awesome bikes. Unfortunately not cost effective given freight expense and warranty/service challenges. About to go on 7 day dual rail trail adventure here in Queensland in Easter with my cycling buddy. I am 63, Judee is 70 and both keen cyclists.

Also going to do the GAP and C&O in May. But I want to stay in hotels (If I can book them). I did it 2 years ago camping, and it's not fun for an old guy (66 at the time). Good luck, perhaps I will see you. If I do, I will introduce my self.

Just purchased an aluminum 29" Niner Gravel late last year for the GDMBR maybe in 2025. Only a few have used this as a bike for that ride. Coming from a road background. I happened upon a Van Duzer video with his collaboration with Priority bikes in coming out with lower cost bikes for folks to get into the sport with. One was the pinion setup. I have drop bars on my gravel, somewhat comfortable but don't use them that much, still like them. After viewing several videos and doing some research, I am starting to lean that way for the straight bar and pinion gearing. At 68, 69 if I do the GDMBR ride, I may change it up. The gravel is fun. Will do shorter overnighters around Washington state this year however, the interest is there for a bit more comfort in the future. It seems the biking arena is now ever changing and I think this is great for all. Doing many videos on the ride I've mentioned, bikes, setups, gear for the ride, etc.. Much to figure out yet. Was a heavy equipment field mechanic, recently retired, at 67. One of the things in this profession was dealing with whatever one had at the time and making it work to accommodate the given situation so, with this in mind I can make the gravel work but, here again, that was then and this is now. Good video on your setup. Thanks.

Hi Michael and thanks for your comment! A belt drive would be perfect for the GDMBR. Pretty much trouble free and one less challenge to deal with. I hope your plans work out. Preparation is everything. Take care and all the best, Steve

Always love your videos and your opinions. I’m a 70 year old and would like your thoughts on which would be better for seniors riding long distances. Flat bar or drop bar on a gravel type bike? Thanks!
@steveretiredandcycling
@steveretiredandcycling 7 месяцев назад
Hi again and thanks for your comment. I think flat bars are the way to go for seniors on long distance rides. Drop bars only lead to back issues and were originally invented for racing. Having said that, I have additional upright hand grips mounted on my flat bars to give me additional hand hold positions when riding more than 20 miles. It makes a big difference in comfort to change hand positions. Thanks again and take care, Steve

Great review, Steve. I wish they would make one that is good for us 5'2" women. I love my Liv gravel bike with your very famous infiniti seat, which I do love, but if I ride too long without stretching and taking a break, my rear does complain! Looking forward to your next adventure!!!! I am hoping you will ride the GAP and the C&O towpath, I don't see that in your videos...Ha! I didn't finish watching this while I was typing about the GAP, too funny. I plan on riding these in either May or June!!

Hi Amy and good to hear from you! I hope all is well. It seems that the smallest Priority bike close to the 600X is the 600. But that is rated for heights above 5'4". As always, thanks again and have a great day, Steve

@steveretiredandcycling
@steveretiredandcycling 4 месяца назад
@@JeremyC-74 Hi Jeremy, I have 3 of the older models and after putting thousands of miles on them I can say they are still comfortable and show minimal wear. The next seat I would buy is the E1X since it has a "hammock" like feature. Any of their seats are fine depending on your budget. Some have additional padding however my older seats with minimal padding are fine. I do wear padded shorts on long rides as an added benefit. When ordering be sure to use my discount code MYSEAT. Thanks and all the best, Steve
