Check out the Prison Architect 2 announcement trailer for the upcoming 3D prison management simulator from Double Eleven and Paradox Interactive.
Prison Architect 2 promises deeper simulation, greater player control, an inhabitant behaviour system and lots more creative options this time around. Prison Architect 2 will be released on March 26, 2024 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 (PS5), and Xbox Series X/S.

Well they did test 3d mode in the first game that was meant to be a full fledged feature but guess they saved it for 2

@@TheRealHanz168 Introversion Software originally made the game. They sold the IP to Paradox Studios some years ago. Paradox Studios is developing Prison Architect 2.

Old art style was very nice in 2D but we saw everything we could on it and it was excellent. I'm happy to see the third dimension coming.

I'm excited for this game, but also cautious too. Especially after the whole City Skyline 2 fiasco. I'm probably gonna wait to see what other people think before buying.

That's usually the case with Paradox games. They're a little janky at release, but become true gems after a few free updates.

Don't know why artists think that 2d characters can work in 3d. This reminds me of those weird animated Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies on Disney plus lol. 😂😂😂

Performance issues basically locked half the player base on CS1. The game optimization is just bad, can't really enjoy it without a high-end PC in most cases. @@user-bb3mb1wk9n

Expect a bare bones experience on release, coupled with a heap of bugs. Expect a milking period of 10 years with 200-300 USD/EUR worth of DLCs until the game reaches the depth of the first one. Expect Paradox.

thats the point prisons arent meant to be upbeat and happy they're the place of punishment and guilt, the original game/campaign conveyed that in the best way possible until paradox came around and ruined it of course

Artstyle looks meh, definitely needs to grow on me, but always curious to see if they can actually outdo the first in terms of gameplay. Better simulation games is always a win to me, and graphics have never been the priority for me. The original creators of PA have anything to do with this from the looks of it though, so I'll remain skeptical. Could just be using the IP to make a quick buck.

That was a really cool trailer. I'm liking the prison within a city, Maybe there's some interaction with the city? Like if a prisoner escapes the prison and hides in a factory you can send a van of guards out from the prison to look for the prisoner in the factory?

They sold the rights to Prison Architects to Paradox years ago. Including IP rights so they are almost certainly not involved with this sequel. This sequel is either being built by one of Paradoxes internal teams or been outsourced to another developer.

What has me concerned more than the Art style is performance. Rendering hundreds of prisoners is much more taxing with 3D than 2D. Wondering if the tradeoff is gonna be worth it.

looks strange, but the ability to build second floors is cool. But what worries me most is whether there will be all the content that is in the first part (along with DLS, of course) or the game will repeat the fate of ksp 2?
