The follow up from episode 1 of the SHEBA® documentary series, The Cats That Rule The World. We follow up with Craig Bigler and adopted prison cat, Galileo, to see how life has been post release from Larch Correctional Facility.
@@k.s783 I completely agree with you. As a woman who is widowed. I wish I could be able to live with my children and be much more hands on with my grandchildren. Rather than them being at after school programs. 🕊💞🕯🙏🏻
@@k.s783 I completely agree! I live in Philippines where it’s quite normal for us to have our grandparents live with us. I did find it odd at first why (not to generalize all of them) the US has this stigma/ pressure to let kids move out at such a “young” age like 18. I know some might say that age is not young but if you’d think about it, the brain fully develops at the age of 25. When I was 18 I was at college and was really struggling emotionally & mentally, and to not have the support and stability of family at such a sensitive age from transitioning of being a teen to adulthood would have been really tough. It’s not shameful to care for your family if they’ve been there for you until you become your own person to be independent. I do hope this prideful nature and pressure to have young adults move out immediately would cease but it’s been there for quite sometime. God Bless you and your family :)
@@00WatName00 I moved out at 18 and did just fine, and have had a wonderful life. Although, for sure some are just too entitled and self centered to do well.
Craig, I'm cheering for you, all the way from Seoul, South Korea. Cats saved me when I was hitting the rock bottom of my life before - I'm glad to see that Galileo saved you, too.
4:15 “I don’t try to force him into anything” THAT is in part what makes you such an excellent cat dad! You sympathize with your kitty’s traumas and don’t want to cause Galileo more distress. You understand each other
Yo Craig if you see this I want you to know you inspired me to get a cat for my family and he’s the best thing that’s happened to us in a long time. We named our cat Bubba Wallace
Craig, I am so very proud of you. I was in my own prison....a prison of alcohol. I, too, am free for over 27 months and couldn't be happier. Godspeed to you and Gallileo.
1st 3 years are so hard . I've got 27 and those first few are truly something to be commended. 27 years is nothing by comparison . I hope you're doing well.
Craig, you are a great catdad! Thanks for giving us an update. I'm glad to see that you and Galileo are doing well. Congratulations on being out for 27 months now!
Cats changed me too! I used to be no damn good, then I rescued 2, 3 week old abandoned kittens.. and they changed my life. I enjoy staying home with them. These cats gave me a family, that needs me.. So glad he is doing good. It is hard out here, it's hard on all of us. I'm sure, it's even harder for a felon. This sucks you did your time, but they make you pay for your crime your lifetime..
I used to be a manager for a franchise Dunkin donuts. The owner had 45 stores so there was an actual HR department. As manager i would review applications and conduct interviews then pass along the info for the people i wanted to hire. They wouldn't approve hire for anyone with not just a felony conviction but misdemeanor and sometimes just an arrest with no conviction. Even stupid stuff like driving with a suspended license were a no go. Any conviction meant no hire. People who routinely suffer from that kind of insane job discrimination often times end up being the best workers because they know they can't afford to lose their jobs, even if it's only at Dunkin donuts.
I'm in hospice which is a form of prison, that is a prison of your physical Illness.the nurses brought me wee wee and she is my reason to keep as positive as mentally not depressed as I was in before my sweetie. She sleeps with me at night and the days when I sleep days your kitty is adorable 😺 cats rule!
Stay clean Craig. There's another cat out there in a few years that will need you. I promise. Stay healthy, they will need you. Thanks for sharing your story. Meow. Real talk.
So glad you and Galileo are doing great! And I'm sure your Mom loves having Galileo for company while you're at work. He's such a handsome kitty. My cat is orange also, but a female.
This story brings tears to my eyes. I'm so glad you made an update for us. You have so much potential and a lot to live for. The love your cat and mother has for you is such a blessing, and now the support of the thousands you have touched with your story. ❤️❤️❤️
Craig, I hope you will read this. You're living proof that we can learn for our errors and choose to be a better person. It takes focus, resilience and willpower. I love it for you, your family and, of course, Galileo. Cats are very discerning beings. You earned his respect and his love. Massive respect for you, fellow cat buddy!
I was so excited to see the update about you and Gallileo and that you are both doing well. Your story is so inspiring, you should become an ambassador for the program, going out and telling your story to others, maybe more correctional institutions would put this program in place. Wishing you all the best, believe in yourself, I know you will be up to your full potential soon.
I know this video is 2yrs ago, but it pleases my heart, to no end. Cats are the bomb. I hope the employment struggle has eased for you. The system truly fails the people who want that change. Please don’t ever give up. Galileo & your mum need the man you are today in this video. Wishes for all good to come your way.
My cat also hides away as soon as she sees her carrier. But if I take the carrier out for at least a day ahead of the vet appointment, then it’s much easier to get her into the carrier. Good luck. The longer you have a regular job, the easier to get a better job.
I really loved watching this update! It's clear that Galileo is happy and has every cat toy available to play with. You clearly really got to figure out cats and what makes them happy. Thanks for adopting Galileo and giving him the best life ever. I'm totally rooting for the two of you. 😸
I hope you will tell your story around the country and other correctional facilities will follow suit. This is a win win, for both inmates and kitties.
Yeah-- We need something to force correctional facilities to actually correct. If that was the goal there would already be more of these programs. All kinds of them. But in reality a prison is simply a cash dispenser. The ppl who open them have no intention in rehabilitating anyone. Giving inmates purpose and reason wouldn't keep them full. This is the sad truth. This is the truth that ppl like us need to understand. We need to bring awareness to our peers. And together do something to make this change for everyone's sake. Can you imagine the improvement it would make in all of our lives to have real rehabilitation centers instead of crime college, oh-- I mean prison's.
I know this was a while ago, but it is still so inspiring! I am an animal rescue volunteer & devout cat lady! I love your relationship with Galileo. I pray you are both happy and flourishing. You should get a vet-tech license on line! It’s a great job & we need more of them. Cats are VERY INSIGHTFUL SPIRITUAL BEINGS! Galileo sees & knows how wonderful you are and the power you have as a powerful spiritual being.
" My worst day out here is better than my best day in there". True statement brother. In 20, been out 20. Cat, dog and awesome wife, it doesn't get any better. I wish there were programs like that when I was jailing. Stay true bro, Galileo is counting on you.
it is better to be a loner than hang around with people who are not really friends. Cats can be such good friends and Galileo is definitively a good friend to you. Wishing the best, including a good job and real friends who won't jeopardize your freedom.
Galileo has a precious life. So happy to see that they found each other. Watched while they were in prison. Fur babies put everyone on the straight and narrow 😎❤️🥲
Beautiful story. Best wishes to you, your mom and Galileo. The journey is about learning, and finding the magic spark that makes us appreciate life. So glad you found peace.
So proud of you Craig! What you've accomplished has clearly taken a lot of reflection and growth. Wishing you and your family (including Galileo of course) all the best!
You are raising feral cats 😏👏😏❤️ They won't survive on mice and birds - really- believe me, they are a challenge-- and such a rewarding one, as they know and express gratitude ❤️👍👍 Love you for loving them 💝!
I just saw the original video and was soooo happy to see this update!! They have such an amazing friendship. He’s worked so hard to get where he is and I hope he’s able to find the solid work and positive human friendships he deserves :) If you see this Craig...my strategy for the cat carrier is to wait til the little guy’s asleep and try to slip him in before he gets his bearings 🙃 getting a soft carrier with an open top helped a ton too.
Craig & Galileo, I'm so glad you found each other. You were meant to be. I've told my boys about you as an example of how people can change for the better. Keep it up, Craig! We're praying for you!
Galileo IS your baby he loves you and vice versa I'm so glad he made a huge difference to your outlook on your own life, I wish you both a long and wonderful life together. 😺
Craig, I just saw your story. I’M SO PROUD OF YOU and all the progress you’ve made in life. I instantly fell in love with Galileo. You guys saved each other ❤
This is a very inspiring story, Craig. The bond you have with Galileo is amazing. I know from experience how lifechanging cats can be in our lives. You have developed great insight into cat behavior and psychology, that's for sure. I really do admire your tenacity and strength of character. I wish you all the best and I hope you meet the right people in life who appreciate you and value you.
Dear Craig, Galileo and Craig's Mum; wishing you all the very best, I am thrilled to see you again and to know that all is well in your world. Sending love and light from England 🇬🇧🐈⬛️🐈🐴
Nothing wrong being a loner. Iong as your’e in a good calming environment and especially with a cat. This man is as human as any of us, some just stay in their unhealthy lane forever. HE made the choice to evolve himself with the help of a feline friend. Others have it worse never developing half the wisdom he has gained. I for one am incredibly proud of him making this far with Galileo. They’re perfect for each other, both humble and graciously natured. In spite of their trauma. It’s truly beautiful to watch a hardcore man soften up to something so as precious as a cat. Just goes to show love prevails all n all things. 🙏🏼❤️
He sounds like a lot of cat people! We don't need to be around a lot of people, getting into silly messes, we just want to hang out with our kitty cat pals and that is a really nice calm, peaceful life. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad you & G are doing well!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Please, please, please: Be careful about your friends who are not on track... unless you can remain calm, strong, satisfied with life 100% of the time ( NOBODY can!), you are putting yourself & him ( & mom) at risk of going through all the pain again. 🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️
I’m rooting for you, Craig! I want you to succeed, stay on the track you’re on and have the best life for you and your companions. You’ve done so much good for these cats. Thank you.❤️
You, you are doing a great job with this cat!! Every day that you get up to go to work, or go out to look for work, just set in your mind that I need to make money to take care of my cat to feed my cat and provide a good home and medical care. I always joke that I go to work so that I can buy cat food for my babies!! I am glad you were building your life back in a positive way. If you do decide to make friends, make sure that you’re friends with GOOD people. People that are healthy, mentally, and want to work and better themselves. When you are around people like that, it pulls you up. And you realize the harder you work the better your own life is. I wish you the best and Galileo is beautiful.
Finally, a 'feel good' story In the midst of pandemics, wars, suicides, entitlement .....wishing nothing but success & happiness for Craig, Galileo & all involved in this outstanding program.🇨🇦
Good for you!!! Not taking part in any crime and taking good care of your kitty. I hope you find employment and long lasting happiness. Keep up the good work.
Greetings from Hong Kong. I am so happy and proud of you Craig. You have given Galileo a good and safe life. It is so sweet to hear that he waits for you to return home from work everyday and greets you at the door. Thank you for doing this follow up video to share how you and Galileo are doing. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Take care.
I keep hearing these wonderful stories like this, men and women who had a bad experience with the world and ultimately got locked away but are brought back to ‘life’ with the love of an animal. They enrich our lives so much ❤
I’m proud of you for changing your life and taking such good care of Galileo. You have loved him and he responded by loving you back. Don’t give up keep trying to get work. Galileo and you have both had trauma. You are healing each other. Bravo!
Cuddling with one of my rescue kitties while watching this. The opening meow made his ears perk up! Lol. These critters bring us so much joy. I love programs like this.
And I love how he says, "Galileo and I have been out for..." they're totally a team. The way he relates to the kitty and understands what kitty has been through is really lovely.
I like how he thinks! He really thinks about his cat in detail right down to his vet appointment. Thank you for the good work! Please keep it up and most of all loving your son Galileo, too!
So glad Galileo is happy and settled with Craig ❤️ wishing them both more happy, healthy years together. Glad Craig is keeping out of trouble. Best thing to do.
Thank you for this heart warming follow up. Craig’s honest post incarceration review of the program is so important and it’s good to know that Craig is honestly working through his social history. It’s obvious that Galileo’s companionship has ignited Craig’s compassion and soul and really gives hope for this world. To Craig: I just want you to know, that helping create and post this video is a unique service to the World that only you can give. You’ve gone from a lifestyle of taking, to asking, and now to giving back … Thank you for opening up your truth and experience - this video is a treasure and I hope to see and hear more about your adventures in the future, because yours is looking up👍🏼💐
This is just so wholesome and heartwarming even though I found this story 9 months later ! This was so great for both of them especially now that the pandemic is in full swing. Makes me smile!
Watching this makes me smile a lot, it made my day. Thank you Craig for taking care of Galileo giving him the best life, and thank you for being a wonderful human being. So happy to see how you are with life right now. Cheering for you all the way from Sweden!
Im so happy for you and Galileo. The cat program at Larch seems to have been a great program for everyone involved in it. I wish you and Galileo the best. Here’s a tip for getting him in the carrier: use calming cat treats to help him chill out and not stress over it. It also might help to keep the carrier in his favorite room so he can get used to it and associate it with friendlier and happier vibes. Good luck and God bless.
You have a good soul to love a cat so much... I hope that you enjoy your life and you don't look at the past, all of us make mistakes and must learn life lessons, and a cat is the best companion and the best teacher . Galileo is a very elegant name ! Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪
I am glad you found his love. Unconditional love is very healing when we accept it. You will find your life will get better. I wish you both the best of luck in the future.
I truly hope this was the CATalyst Craig needed to leave the life of crime behind. The love of cat is second to none and it was great to see the transformation of both of you through this program. Some more updates would be great.
Wow. I'm so proud of you. You kept your word. That really matters more than anything in 2021. Stay blessed and keep your chin up. Keep moving forward. Ps. Galileo is gorgeous and remarkably well cared for. Congrats on being a great Cat Dad.
I was happy to see the shelter placing cats with inmates as they do dogs. Over the years I've had some wonderful cats that I totally fell in love with. One of them was Sammy, king of the kitty cats. He was orange like yours. I still think about him. You and Galileo hang in there and take care of each other. The best of luck to you.
I love how empathetic you are with Galileos and try to understand his trauma and know that you are out of trouble ❤ stay always that way You mom And Galileo loves you! ❤
Wonderful progress painstakingly achieved by Mr. Craig and Kitty Galileo. We're so very happy to see the update on youtube & know that all is well. LOVE is the transformative factor. Thanks to the Humane Society for this program & to all participants in the program. Thumbs up!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I love the relationship that Greg and Galileo have. Galileo is so lucky to have him as an owner. He is so patient, gentle and loving with Galileo which is just what he needs. You see so many cat owners who annoy, pick on or upset their cats because they think it’s funny or whatever when it’s just breaks their trust. It’s so nice to see that he give him so much respect and patience. Greg you are an amazing man and I hope you remember that.
So awesome to see a follow up to Craig’s journey! Keep up the amazing work, you are an inspiration to all us guys that have made some bad decisions in life but are trying hard to live life as better men and learn from our mistakes
Craig, I've just found this video and so impressed and pleased for your transition to outside life with your Mum and Galileo. I hope you are still enjoying this quiet and safe life.
Craig, I'm so glad that you and Galileo are doing well, it's lovely to see how much you love one another. Keep on doing what you are doing now because Galileo really needs you in his life and so does your mother. Much love and respect to you and take care of yourself, your mum and your boy. ❤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
