Josh Pritchett spent his adolescent years fighting for a sense of belonging - and catching criminal charges along the way. After multiple stints in prison, Josh has a chance encounter that changes his outlook on life.
He left prison for the last time and applied to UVA, pursuing a finance degree. While there, Josh took advantage of a program that sent him back to prison - but this time as a volunteer, not an inmate.

It is so hard to listen to his childhood. I was 20 when I had my son. Got divorced a year later, a single mom for the next 9 years. Even having been in a major car accident, leaving me to dozens of back surgeries. I NEVER EVER laid a hand on my son's face. I hit his hand 1x, and his bottom maybe 1x. Smacking him made him laugh because his father hit him ALL THE TIME. It breaks my heart truly that he was treated like that so young. No excuses just because she was young and single. Young is a teen mom. 21 is an adult. Especially since she had quit school in middle school. She may not have been educated, but she was street wise. I'm only this far in so I'll be surprised how their relationship turns out that he could say he loves her unconditionally. I get it. You have 1 mom. But mom's shouldn't treat their children that they grew in their bodies that way. 😢 Parents are meant to give you a moral foundation, right vs wrong, thinking skills. If you have that then choose trouble that's on you. But parents that treat their kids like buddies is where the kids get into trouble if they don't have a mother and father type role models. Until you're 18, their your parents after that they can choose to be buddies with you. My son and I are best friends. He's helped me I've helped him. I know till my dying day I can count on him. I taught him right.

First note, I didn't know there was an HBO special. Second note, mom was a hustler. That Thanksgiving she put together.... much respect for that. You literally grew up while your mom was also growing up. That's a difficult dynamic but so common in America. I honestly believe the downfall of our nation is and will be the fatherless child. I have heard a lot of kids say that DH or Juvie, is the most stable time they had because of the structure. It feels like you weren't given a shot in hell to succeed because of the lack of parenting. You definitely look like Mr. Musk haha Elon would probably love to meet you LOL I'm so glad God finally got to your heart!

Yes ys 30 year olds and 40 year olds need to tell the youth and try to teach them or tell them when they are doing wrong. Sometimes they need to hear it from someone like us guys in our 30s who are still young enough wherre they dont think we are squares or old men. They usually tend to listen to those who have been in the streets in the drug scene. Ill tell people co workerrs or anyone if they are doing the wrong thing ill tell them my story. Bout having 3 felonies ruined my job search it always comes up and hinders u from getting apartments and jobs. Jail isnt fun either all these things they might have to learn the hardway but hopefull not

Why doesnt the government do away with peoples felonies after they have served or completed their punishment sentence? Seems like that this is on the fence as double jeopardy. I could understand some felons that never change or would cheat the system, but there still should be away that felons can get certain Eloise canceled.

@alexanderlitvan503 There are a 100 other prison channels out their that preach the stay "solid", stay "hard" nonsense. It's irrelevant where someone did their time, whether the cooperated or not, if their soft or hard, or what the "Hard" guys think. It is THEIR story, and there is a place for everyone's story to be heard. Ian provides us a fresh difference than the other prison channels that preach the "stay solid" nonsense do not show. He also has guest that other channels don't have. Bottom line is there is a channel for everyone's preference. I like this channel cause Ian let's them tell their story good or bad. Other "prison" channels are to worried they may be viewed as "soft" and have them not bring up certain things such a as being an informant or cooperating with the government. Im my opiinion nothing is off limits for an interview, with the exception of pedo's.
